les should be recognized for his great artistic talent.......one of the better artists of this era!!!!!!!!!!!! the man is a genius! and his camera work while trying to survive is phenomonal
In all seriousness, I'm really happy for Les, his success, his career, and his music. It's kind of a shame he hasn't done much with his musical talents, but hell, it's mentioned on his Wikipedia page, and that's almost as good. Congrats, Les, and thanks for the fun and for having a name that's impossible to misspell.
Ahh HI. I ordered a mixer from your channel and the darn thing freezes up. I called the number on TV but was busy. I wasn't aware you had a talkshow when not selling on TV. pleasent surprise
Damn! I can understand why Les doesn't want to do Survivorman any longer but I'm really going to miss that show. I refuse to watch the phoney. Looking forward to anything Les Stroud has coming to T.V.
Wow, I managed to completely misconstrue your post Crabjock. I very stupidly thought you were YOU were implying Les was conceited. Reading your post again, it's obvious that you were merely being sarcastic. Very sorry for misreading what you wrote. :-) I'm a huge fan of Les Stroud and having just listened to an hour long blog interview of his the other night, I was blown away but what a truly humble and multi-faceted guy he truly is. He's an inspiration. Cheers. :-)
Regardless if his show is fake or not, there's always reality that will happen after any amount of time in where he has been. Most people wouldn't dream of doing the things that he's done or the work he puts into it while in these environments. He's giving valuable lessons that most didn't know which might stick in our minds if (ever) in somewhat the same situation. To me, he's a good man, that is probably more of a man then half the men in the goddamn civilized world.
It's not just about the surviving skills and all that. The amazing scenery, all the new wild places they all visit are fantastic to watch. Les Stroud, Bear Grylls, Ray Mears, Les Hiddins, the dudes from Dual Survival or Man Woman Wild, Lars Monsen are all brilliant and can't wait to see new episodes of any of their adventures. I don't care of their styles, just keep up the good job, you all covered much of the planet's wilderness but there is a lot more out there to see.
I'm sorry everyone but you just can't compare Survivorman to Man vs. Wild. Survivorman is based upon surviving in a certain location for a given amount of time. Man vs. Wild is based upon taking on amazing challenges which one would probably not undertake in a normal situation. The entertainment of Bear's show is not necessarily around the simple survival, but based on the insane situations/activities he does. They are both entertaining shows but cannot be simply compared fairly.
sometimes if I can't sleep, I imagine myself to be in the Canadian wilderness 500 years ago, and try to think about what I would need to survive...and then I fall asleep
Love LS's show (it's 2020 now). I've also heard of Urban Survival as a show. I don't know if anyone has bean dropped in a real urban environment for TV. Something like Wilderness Guy gets dropped in Ferguson MO during the turmoil with no ID or "identity" as far as the POS cops know. So, make it Rwanda.
Les actually tested leaves in one episode, he would wipe these leaves on his arms to see if he broke out in a rash. If he did, he didn't use those leaves, trial and error. Just use green leaves and they won't break.
I've always wanted to know, if you don't have toilet paper, what do you wipe your butt with? I tried leaves and it didn't work out to well....they broke.
@MeatPopsicleHomey everyone KNOWS that... It's almost like Bear is taking you on a field trip to show you shit. Don't think that he doesn't know what he's talking about though. Les and Bear are both survival experts. They just have different ways of teaching everyone the art of survival. One survives alone and films it, the other takes you on a "field trip" if you will...
@lefty la, i'm not disputing the fact that he & his crew do stay in hotels, what im saying is that, bear has done it all b4 in his sleep i can imagine so i suppose he feels what has he got to prove?
bear spent 3 yrs in the sas so he is more than capable of surviving in any situation but he is making a adventure show with a big crew so needs a base to plan & work from he cant expect the crew to live in a real survival situation coz of the logistics involved but bear would out class les in a real situation
like i said bear was trained by the best special force in the world, he could do things that would make les & us stand in amazement, i do like watching survivorman but bears training is on a level only that Les could dream of, bear has climbed everest for Christ sake, could les do that, i dont think so
its my fav too well im sorta glad that hes not doign the show because its gotta be very hard on family and stuff and trust me hes gunna have more stuff
@TheLordSod Please do tell me, why is that not relevant? Surely you do not expect us to just take your word for it? How does he fail? I'm truly intrigued by your conclusion as to us it seems he does quite well. And would you please guide us to this survival guru of yours so we can marvel at his great wisdom? It's fine to like or dislike a show, but don't state your personal opinions like they are absolute truths.
@shaolinadr Yes they are good. Not as real as Survivorman but I like them both. I watched Dave Canterburys videos before and I really like his gear philosophy.
@JakobsEarth You dont have to take my word for it. I urge you to watch all of his "survivorman" shows. sometimes he does well, other times simply terribly. I think the name was "ed wardle on "alone in the wild" though i may be getting him mixed up. It was on Ch4 (UK) last year How on earth did i state my opinion as absolute truth?? And how would you possibly argue against the notion that you have done just that, if you uphold the idea that i have done so?
@DahnD I know about his shows, because i've watched them all. That includes watching him fail miserably. He'l do a little bit of work, and then lie down in the cold and wet. I don't know, maybe he's just not very fit, or isn't used to physicaly working all day.
@ 5:27 he says "with an ex wife of mine" odd wording, it would seem to imply that he has been married more than once, his wikipedia page doesn't reflect that lol
@Fluffy2Fresh lol he did it for a year, with nothing except a store of dry foods, and some basic tools like a stone axe and some sticks. no metal no plastic no matches no nothing. not in bc but still in the middle of nowhere in canada, plenty of bears etc.
Review around 5:25 into this vid. DID HE SAY "An 'EX-WIFE!!!???" If I heard him right, that blows me away. Over the last few weeks, I've watched some RUclips vids. with him AND his wife (ex?), and they seemed SO right for each other! What the hell!? Ex-Wife!? When did this happen!? First time I've heard it anywhere! I'm shocked! (SO, DOES ANYONE KNOW? DID HE REALLY SAY "EX-WIFE"!!???) If so: Unbelievable! Hope he's OK with it. Wonder what part "Survivorman" played in that?
Les and his book got me through a two year ordeal and saved my life. I am forever thankful.
you were lost in the woods for 2 years :P no but seriously tell me more about this ordeal if u want. its been 6 years but im interested.
What a cool dude. Really humble. We need more people like him. No more Survivorman :(
les should be recognized for his great artistic talent.......one of the better artists of this era!!!!!!!!!!!! the man is a genius! and his camera work while trying to survive is phenomonal
What brings us back to watch him he asks.....Les is the man!!! that's what bring us back.
My son and I always watch the show, one of the best on tv today!! As stated below, Les is the man!
Not only knowledge is power but, knowledge is the lightest thing to carry without straining yourself.

I'm American, & I think Canada is the best neighbor a nation could have... If everyone were as easy-going & laid back as Canada, we'd all get along.
wow. what a comeback.
Nother amazing Canadian.
Makes me proud to be me. Makes me proud.
Im wicked late to the party. Still love this guy.
He's back !
I really like Les he just comes off as a very good guy
Les Stroud is probably *the* most modest badass I can think of.
Les is more!!
I really really like the show suvirvorman! 3 seasons isn't enough! Les you need to do more or atleast something similar in your next show. PLEASE
yeah! SEASON FOUR !!!!!!
Last year he hosted that show where all those random people went to live in alaska, new season on right now.
Interesting interview and great video, thank you! Survivorman is a great inspiration!
Forget Bear or Cody n Dave. Les is the Man!!!
wow, that sucks. I loved that show. now i gotta get his book...
Ahh HI. I ordered a mixer from your channel and the darn thing freezes up. I called the number on TV but was busy. I wasn't aware you had a talkshow when not selling on TV. pleasent surprise
@CougarRockSR I believe he's referring to Dave Holladay, who was the local expert/consultant for the Sonoran desert episode of Survivorman.
i'd watch that show
I agree, he's my role model
My thoughts exactly.
Damn! I can understand why Les doesn't want to do Survivorman any longer but I'm really going to miss that show. I refuse to watch the phoney. Looking forward to anything Les Stroud has coming to T.V.

I love Les Stroud he is my hero. Ive watched all his films and read his book and i want to be him. haha
Les might well be the most modest person to ever appear on a TV show.
seems like a pretty honest kind of guy.
Hell yea I wanna se him do it 68 more times!!!

Haha les stroud is a beast! wish i knew half the stuff he did.
It's not just about the surviving skills and all that.

In the USA it is on Cartoon Network
I'm wearing the same headphones!
sometimes if I can't sleep, I imagine myself to be in the Canadian wilderness 500 years ago, and try to think about what I would need to survive...and then I fall asleep

les and cody should hit it up and make "Dual Survivor Man"
Les actually tested leaves in one episode, he would wipe these leaves on his arms to see if he broke out in a rash. If he did, he didn't use those leaves, trial and error. Just use green leaves and they won't break.
Les Stroud should do an episode in Pasig City, Philippines.
The challenge is to NOT getting robbed or stabbed by a bunch of hoodlums in 7 days...
I know, I know.. Rush, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young... I luv 'em all, but the Tragically Hip are still my favorite Canadian Band... Yeah, Canada!! XD
3:49 "Desert Hippie Dude in Arizona..."
cody Lundin
David Holladay, actually. :)
No its Cody Lundin
how is he conceded?
I've always wanted to know, if you don't have toilet paper, what do you wipe your butt with? I tried leaves and it didn't work out to well....they broke.

haha we are used to watching him (over 50% of the time) when he hasn't eaten for three days or more!!! lol
@TheLordSod
What are Les Stroud's shortcomings which make him more susceptible to fail in the wild than the average person?
@TheLordSod
Would you mind providing several examples?
As it stands, your complaints are curiously vague.
EVERYBODY TYPE IN AND WATCH ... SURVIVOR MANDREW
this is a new show where he puts kids to the test on cartoon network check it out its called survive this
bear spent 3 yrs in the sas so he is more than capable of surviving in any situation but he is making a adventure show with a big crew so needs a base to plan & work from he cant expect the crew to live in a real survival situation coz of the logistics involved but bear would out class les in a real situation
LES IS THE MAN
Hes like Mcgayver but survivor edition!
I hate it when guests wear the headphones backwards with the "R" on their left ear :P
Great interview tough, he is an interesting guy.
i bit if he was an american his tv show would've been famous by now but im glad his canadian
like i said bear was trained by the best special force in the world, he could do things that would make les & us stand in amazement, i do like watching survivorman but bears training is on a level only that Les could dream of, bear has climbed everest for Christ sake, could les do that, i dont think so
stroud is a fucking BADASS.

@TheLordSod
Please do tell me, why is that not relevant? Surely you do not expect us to just take your word for it?
How does he fail? I'm truly intrigued by your conclusion as to us it seems he does quite well.
And would you please guide us to this survival guru of yours so we can marvel at his great wisdom?
It's fine to like or dislike a show, but don't state your personal opinions like they are absolute truths.
desert hippy dude in arazona........
hmmm Cody Lundin comes to mind
@shaolinadr
Yes they are good. Not as real as Survivorman but I like them both.
I watched Dave Canterburys videos before and I really like his gear philosophy.

How on earth did i state my opinion as absolute truth?? And how would you possibly argue against the notion that you have done just that, if you uphold the idea that i have done so?
I'm veiwer number 9,999! No achievement there...
@DahnD I know about his shows, because i've watched them all. That includes watching him fail miserably. He'l do a little bit of work, and then lie down in the cold and wet.
I don't know, maybe he's just not very fit, or isn't used to physicaly working all day.
les stroud FTW
@ 5:27 he says "with an ex wife of mine" odd wording, it would seem to imply that he has been married more than once, his wikipedia page doesn't reflect that lol
@stonebridge999 I totally agree with you
Bear does back flips out of helicopters.. Sooo realistic compared to Les Stroud getting lost in the woods. I hope my sarcasm reads
@fujosej HAHAHA the same thing came to mind!
Yeah I think he and his wife were separated sometime in 2008.
@Fluffy2Fresh lol he did it for a year, with nothing except a store of dry foods, and some basic tools like a stone axe and some sticks. no metal no plastic no matches no nothing. not in bc but still in the middle of nowhere in canada, plenty of bears etc.
This guy looks like a thin Louis CK. Les is a consummate badass.
Review around 5:25 into this vid. DID HE SAY "An 'EX-WIFE!!!???" If I heard him right, that blows me away. @blindsaintnick bear has a whole camera crew with him - les stroud is alone
2020
