    Hi Ruby, I'm so glad that I found your channel. I've been looking everywhere for a tutorial on 'How to Make an Illusion Necklace with Monofilament' and yours is the first real monofilament necklace video that I've found! So thank you Ruby. This is great.

    I've made a few of these and they are very pretty. Thanks so much for the idea. I've adapted this with a single version minus the chain so I could teach a group of little girls. Turned out very nice and they liked their necklaces because they couldn't see the monofilament cord. lol. Great job!

    Ruby - most illusion designs require you to crimp each and every bead in place, thus requiring far more supplies and I think time. This is brilliant AND beautiful! Love those crystals! Once again: Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent, not to mention designs. I've learned a lot from you and really appreciate all you do. Jodi (Using hubby's RUclips account!)P.S. I love your sense of humor too!

    Lovely necklace and i just tried it out. What i found best to make it 'less of a challenge' in the end is that i left the 'closure' end of the 4 beaded lines a bit longer. This made life much easier to string on the closing clampshell and crimp bead. Then i just cut off the 'extra bit' once i locked in place the 4 ending beads and crimped the crimp bead before closing up the clampshell. Hope this helps other too ;) and thanks Ruby, such lovely work!!

    Ruby, I am speechless! I had in mind for long time to make the floating necklace, but could not find the decent way to make it. I actually do not like to use crimp beads at every bead on the floating necklace, it does not look neat for me. But your project, your video made my day once I saw it. Thank you very much for sharing. Now I am all set for my project.

    Ruby, you can just use a lighter heat up the four ends slightly, this will let the strings go through the loop at once easily. Just my opinion, I saw my grand did this while she was weaving.

    I wonder if this technique would work with flat beads. I'm working on a "falling leaves" necklace for fall (it's early October at the time I posted this) and the invisible wire would make the leaves look like they've been frozen in the act of drifting down from the tree. Only one way to find out: I must try it! Even if it didn't work, the green one would be perfect for the holidays in a few months.

    Hm... what if it slides though, I mean it is not kept with a knot or anything, just the tension you put into the fishing line when you pulled it tight thus it created a crease at that point which is enough to keep it, what about long term usage, won't the thread kinda revert into a more straighter and loser shape thus the beads will start collapsing due to gravity?

    • @RubyMLockwood
      @RubyMLockwood  10 лет назад +4

      So far mine has not done that...and I don't believe it will because I don't wear the necklace day and night only on occasion or when I wear that color...I did make this for an entire wedding party some time ago and to this day they are still in perfect condition...I store all my jewelry in containers covered with a little plastic baggy to prevent it from discoloring or like you said losing shape.....Lots of ppl hang there necklaces up on hooks...the majority of jewelry we make is costume jewelry and its not meant to last forever...lol...all threads no matter what we use will stretch overtime...:))

    • @RubyMLockwood
      @RubyMLockwood  10 лет назад +1

      I have never had that problem with it curling...however with the weight of the beads it should lay flat as mine has done...its still a bit curly but nothing overwhelming...might be if you used heat on it will cause it to curl more or worse...try doing without using heat on the line...I used fishing line which comes on a big roll so its not too curly...:)) Hope that helps :)) Happy Beading

    Love. I'm afraid my crimp will slip...what do you do to be reasonably sure it won't, aside from doing the crimp as tightly as possible? Do you choose not to use crimping pliers for this reason, or is that just a personal choice? Thanks so much.

    • @RubyMLockwood
      @RubyMLockwood  10 лет назад

      Everytime I use crimps they never work properly for me and my string pulls out...if I use my pliers I have yet to have a crimp break or thread pull out...if you don't have the exact crimpers for the exact bead it don't work..and I never have the right matching ones lol...or just too expensive to buy all the different sizes..:))

    • @catalot
      @catalot 10 лет назад

      Ruby Lockwood Thanks so much! I just made an invisible necklace with pearls using crimps to hold the beads in place instead of looping back through as you did...had some crimps slip. Necklace isn't exactly invisible anyway since crimps show...not a look I really like! But doing the crimps for the ends is just as important. I'm going to try your way. :)

    I made two of these necklaces but I'm just not happy with the way the fishing line pops out on the beads. You can see the loop. Maybe if it would stay tight against the bead it would look alright but is doesn't and you can see it. Oh well.

    Bonito trabajo, pero falta enfoque al trabajo, fuera de camara

    your videos are very interesting, but some times you move the action out of the camera frame, so we can't see the steps actually.

    My fishing line got very curly when stringing the beads. How do I prevent this?
