sss kkkooosss we need this view far more often than it’s shown. When we have a pitch that’s close to the top/bottom of the zone we need a face-on view. Here's the deal. Couple things. First, because the umpire has to position himself on one side of the catcher or the other, it changes his "eye" or perspective. Batters are trained to realize this. Also batters should be paying attention to that umpires stroke zone. Most umpires are consistent the entire game. The players quickly realize this and they prepare for it. Second, a good umpire is not going to give a hitter too much leeway on close pitches. These guys are professionals and should be at the plate ready to hit. Not be looking for walks. That may appear unjust or incorrect to some . But this is the way it is. This is baseball. Look gang, its way better than it used to be. Before MLB started with stationing umpire supervisors at every game , strikes were called based on where the catcher set up. Gregg Maddux made a living off his impeccable ability to locate his pitches by "hitting the keyhole". That guy had the respect of umpires and they gave that leeway. MLB put a stop to this because it was in fact getting pretty ridiculous. Now, pitches more than half a ball width off the plate see rarely called strikes. Yet still batters are overly patient with greater than 50% of all p5iches thrown , the batter makes no attempt at swinging. Yet, strikeouts are way up over say 10 years ago

Zach Davies must have a lot of drinking buddies in the umpiring crew.
It’s because of blown calls like this is why there won’t be umpires soon in the mlb
Mannnnn ohhh man.. A few things...
1. Mistakes are made when people are taken out of their comfort levels. Typically this happens when the game is moving to fast for the person. Obviously these umpires are living outside their comfort zones trying to umpire super athletes.
2. Nothing kills the flow of the game and dampers enthusiasm in sports like poor umpiring.
3. The MLBs reluctance to improve the recruiting and hiring process. Is exactly why robot umps are knockin at the door and the game as we know it will never be the same.
Smh...
Me: So, you’re telling me you’ll give me $50K if I play in this game, even if I don’t finish?
Me in the 1st inning: That’s bulls*** Mr. Ump. You fat fu** waste of space. Get some glasses!
Ump: You’re outta here!
Me in the clubhouse: Ahhh, free money.
I hate when it turns into a umpires game.
Can anybody explain why the umpire isn’t always stood directly behind the plate??
3:48 - Silent Bob wasn't so silent there.
2:35 Ump notice the camera, trash can, and buzzer
Ham Sup Lo lmao Fr tho, they ass was prob sweating 😂
Secretly AJ Hinch didn’t want the umpire looking into the dugout because he was afraid he would see them cheating.
This was in 2019, so I’m sorry you look like a fool. 🙄
jamvan2k I know that obviously, I’m not an idiot, it was just a stupid joke.
I've watched baseball my whole life and what I have never understood is they will throw a player out for saying just one word but when the manager comes out and argues with them and yells at them for like 20 - 30 seconds they don't throw them out. Like come on just give the players a break.
It depends on what's said.
Also, the manager is sort of like the team spokesman. He's the one who communicates with umpires. Assistant coaches get almost no rope. Players get more. Managers get most because it's their job to represent the team in communicating with the umpires.
