its basically dead island but more, the immersion, music, feel of everything is insane only techland can do it, a basic fetch quest feels real and grounded and very immersive
From any decade honestly. Definitely one of those games I hope people will continue to discover and react with "how do more people not know about this game?!?"
I'm a middle aged Dad getting back into gaming and am a little burned out of big open world AAA games. I used to look for what's the best bang for the buck, I enjoyed 200 hours of Cyberpunk - that's ridiculous value, but what about a list of the best 20 hour AA games?
Maybe some ’Like a Dragon’. They have tons of mini-games but can be finished in a reasonable time and have a refreshing mix of dead serious main quest and goofy side activities and gameplay.
i loved playing this with my neices. they would let me do the parts with the "bugs" and I would let them endlesly run around the parts that are safe and just do cat stuff. They still like playing it when I visit lol
A game with similarly linear progression and storytelling collectibles along the way would be 'Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream' An isometric puzzle game with - at times - multiple playable characters in a Scandinavia-esque nation during the Industrial Revolution. You play a young woman living in the slums who is forced to evade the increasingly tyrannical and corrupt authorities while trying to find out what kind of mess your missing older brother got himself into. It's fun and immersive.
I’m currently replaying forbidden west at the moment… I bought it on release and dlc played them once and didn’t pick them up again till now 4 years later enjoying them a second time round
Wish I liked it. Zero Dawn toed the line of being an Ubislop style world hard, but stayed on the right side enough that I still loved it. Forbidden West went full Ubislop. A small handful of copy/paste activities slapped over every possible inch of the map, put in place of actual unique and interesting storytelling opportunities.
@ledumpsterfire6474 I actually like the newer ACs but Zero Dawn never really got me. I have no idea what it is, let me ride something, climb something & shoot stuff with the bow & I´m usually always happy. I played all AC titles except the last one because I do not pay more than 15 bucks for these games
its been a thing for awhile now that my son and i watch videos on this channel, you have no idea how happy he was that you called out Astrobot. its his favorite. thanks falcon
20 years from now, and we'll still talk about games like Skyrim, Witcher, Red dead, Zelda, Elden Ring, and all the other legendary ones, as if we never grew up. The nostalgia will never die.
Yeah but I’m worried ES6 will just be Starfield with a different set of paint. They need to evolve their formula OR bring back complicated systems from the old games and decisions/dialogue that actually matters and changes the story.
Gotta be the "wull akshually" guy and bring up that if it was time dilation, you'd never know the difference because it would be your entire frame of reference, and only an observer outside of the dilation effect would actually be able to notice and see the effect. It would just feel normal to you. What you're talking about is so, so much more complex: perception of time.
I wanna keep playing it but it's to horror for me for some reason and it's also very hard to finish the game.. The atmosphere and the tension is top notch for sure!
@agentsmith6161 It is indeed scary if you're scared by space, but it's worth pushing through your fears and maybe doing some exposure therapy by flying straight into Giant's Deep and the sun, etc. lol
I didn't like it at all, really tried it but it's just not for me. Makes me jealous of all of the people who enjoyed it. It sounds like the game changed their life's haha
@thestraydogthat’s exactly my plan. Control, then Alan wake 2, hopefully in time for Resonant. I’ve also got to get through Witcher 3 before the new dlc 😅
1:04 Bought rdr2 right after launch, still play it almost daily and just can’t seem to get sick of it even one bit. Truly the best game I’ve ever played, and I’ve played my fair share of amazing games :,)
I preferred origins a lot more over valhalla... valhalla just died down for me with still so much to do...the pacing in origins felt better imo... But I'm a pre-odessey AC fan :p
Yeah, for me, too. But we PC players weren't where the money was and what the controversy is about. It was definitely the legacy-consolleros who ended up holding the bag, and there were a lot of them around. Point is, you shouldn't sell a game by the millions to audiences with an older console that it doesn't run on, and it has never been built to run on them. A lot of people got scammed, is what I am saying.
Yeah, this. I played on PC and had no (big) issues, but PS4 players weren't so lucky. Still, the hate it got was too much imo. It was still a really good game. Just a shame that they were never honest about the quality on console and delayed it a bit.
Even a relatively janky playthrough with the NoVR mod is brilliant and worthwhile. It's also unbelievably (by today's unfortunate standards) well optimized and will run on anything.
If you know anyone who owns a VR headset, in particular an Index, beg them to borrow it for a weekend. HL Alyx is unlike anything else you've ever played in your life.
Its funny though because him saying it uses VR the best of any game out there… i played other games like blade and sorcery first and quickly got bored with half life alyx🙈 maybe i should give it another try but i wish the movement was a little more free. Still, people seem to love it (especially if they’ve played half life games, which i havent tbh). Maybe i’ll revisit sometime.
the problem, at least for me, is that the trilogy actually went backwards with each game. They really misinterpreted how much Bayek will be loved by fans and decided not do a trilogy with him and it kinda sucked.
Isnt Unity the one that released so incredibly broken that Ubisoft had to issue refunds? If it is, I remember trying it but never taking it seriously because of the bugs. I also remember that it was the only AC that the campaign was multiplayer/Co-op based.
@Crasky1992 I somewhat agree. Rogue had an interesting premise but I feel like they missed a bit of the potential. I hope they remake it and add some more content. Preferably to truly make his sway to the Templars seem more meaningful and more convincing. For me personally with the time jumps it felt rather shallow. A bit like Anakins fall to the Dark Side and specifically becoming a Sith in ROTS. It all seemed to happen within an instant.
I really like playing Unity now. I believe that it has one of the best settings for an Assassins Creed game. It is modern enough where you have large and crowded city. It is a well known city with many famous landmarks and with narrow streets that allow you to parkour rather easily.
I believe the biggest critique to be had on Odyssey is that it isn’t very much Assassins Creed. Not like the previous game up until Origins. But if you have given yourself some time to immerse yourself in the story of Odyssey and have played the DLC’s then you truly see how magnificent that game is
@MajicMathiasI agree. I’m just saying that it would be the only critique that I can think off. But I do believe that the Assassins aspect was more important to the Valhalla story. When AC started it was a war between the Templars and the Assassins. That is still happening in Valhalla. In Odyssey if you take away the assassins and say that you are just a demigod then the story basically remains untouched.
I'm glad u enjoy it, I played all of it including both DLCs last year, and as a big AC fan I just thought it was so mid. Parts were good, yh, but overall the story, writing, dialogue, etc was just so bad. It felt downright cringe at times, made little sense, and was a slog to get through sometimes. Origins was far better for an RPG AC
@Frost4RealI disagree but I can certainly understand where you are coming from. In my opinion the stunning world that you are in also helped elevate the experience. I also must admit that I am a bit biased. I majored in Classical Studies, so a game set in one of the more famous ancient wars with an added element of geeky Assassins Creed backstory and the DLCs that go deeper into the more mythological aspect of it all may have completely swooned me 😂
too bad you can't really "revisit" it, as it's a game you can really only experience once. You can definitely return for the vibes and soundtrack though
"In Half Life: Alyx, VR feels truly necessary." *Proceeds to show clips with a flatscreen mod installed.* This is the second video Ive seen you guys do this with this game. Does no one at gameranx own a VR headset or something?
Yeah, also missing Horizon Zero Dawn. The bow combat, the original AF monsters and the story make it one of my favorite games of the kast decade together with TW3, God of War and CP2077. I get that they wanted some variety in the genres though.
I agree... valhalla just felt like a endless chore...while the others were sprawling and massive but less "draining" in it's endless repeating busy work.. I stopped playing AC for nearly 2 years because of valhalla xD I had to start back at AC1 and 2 just to fall back in love with the franchise xD
It sucks because Valhalla was my personal favorite as far as where the story could have gone and the Viking aesthetic. I love Nordic and Viking stuff. Too bad it slogged as much as it did
While I like TOTK better, I get the rationale for putting BOTW on the list instead. Both games are among my all-time favorites, and I’m glad they were represented on this list
As someone firmly in the camp of "BOTW looks like a tech demo compared to TOTK," I fully acknowledge that BOTW has earned the more historically significant and revolutionary spot.
I love Assassins Creed Odyssey :) I have so many happy memories playing and just exploring their gorgeous rendition of Ancient Greece. It's my favorite of all the AC entries (I have played them all and know this is an unpopular opinion lol)
@history-games1765 No, it's based on Greek mythology. The same studio at Ubisoft that developed AC Odyssey did Immortals Fenyx Rising because they wanted to go deeper with the mythology. It's like a combination of AC Odyssey and Zelda Breath of the Wild. I love it. A lot of the voice cast is shared between the two games too, so you'll recognize a lot if you've played AC Odyssey. Same for some art assets.
Very surprised not to see Subnautica on here. I guess most people will have at least one game they'd assume would be on a list like this - and that's mine for sure! Oh, and Prey.
I loved Subnautica, but I’m not terribly surprised it’s not on here. If it was a list of top 30 or 40, I imagine it probably would have made it. There were just A LOT of good games over the last decade
At one point I was so into bloodborne and playing it nonstop anytime I was not at work with very little sleep inbetween , at one point a customer at work told me to " have a great one " and I remember being like " oh god ! " and having a mental freakout and looking out into the world in horror , 11 / 10 one of the best and greatest games to ever do the being a video game
God I love Nier Automata that games story just stuck with me and it's crazy cuz there's some parts where the dialogue the characters aren't even anything really just reading it in their voice yet somehow does not mess up the intensity of that scene at all. That game is a masterpiece
I am halfway through and totally agree with the list already. Love your guy's channel. I wish Jake was also part of the falcon show. I would add Expedition 33, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Split Fiction and a few others.
Big VR gamer here. Half Life Alyx in VR is definitely a good reason to get one to start your VR journey. It's incredibly detailed and immersive. Also, I was extremely surprised how underappreciated AC Odyssey was. Was the first game to have me take a laptop to work and binge game for the next 200+ hours. Team Alexios!!
AC Odyssey was my first AC game and I think it's great. I loved the ancient Greece setting, the story and combat. Sea combat was fun as well. Loved Atlantis DLC as well for the setting also.
This video is an indictment of me as a gamer. I own 16 of them, have finished two with Plat, and all the rest have played for and hour or two, loved, and never gone back 😂
Odyssey was a great mention cos also ended up liking that game a lot like witcher 3 and rdr2 ended up surprising me and growing on me a lot. Voice acting is great also
As someone who isn’s super into many of the most commonly discussed games on this channel, I’m pleasantly shocked that BOTW/TOTK, Outer Wilds, and Silksong (which are among of my favorite games) are on here
No need to worry about Arthur coughing; it’s just the dust in the air from the game’s hyperrealistic environment.
Oh thank goodness! He should go on top of a mountain to get some fresh air
@mrriaan3818 while on the montain, don't forget to see sunrise
Jfc guys, I _was_ having a good morning 🥺
Arthur and John are truly breathtaking characters
verisimilitude
I love Odyssey I just walk around in game and look at the sights. It's so beautiful
Current playing Detroit become human for the first time, still a masterpiece today tbh
Yes
Fire game
Love Detroit Become Human..and The Walking Dead TellTale
BEAUTIFUL shoutout
BEAUTIFUL 🤩
The original Dying Light is a must play as well
Techland really cooked with that one! They built it on top of what they learned from Dead Island.... And it's SOO GOOOD!
its basically dead island but more, the immersion, music, feel of everything is insane
only techland can do it, a basic fetch quest feels real and grounded and very immersive
Would be nice to have a video of 20 hidden gems of the last 10 years
Have you played Chorus? Amazing open world space shooter with the best flight mechanics I've played.
Prey was such a great game from the last decade.
Oh absolutely. I think @gameranx mentioned it several times in different videos, but yeah, should have had a mention here, too!
From any decade honestly. Definitely one of those games I hope people will continue to discover and react with "how do more people not know about this game?!?"
big facts so sad what happened to the studio
Oh how I love Prey
Just downloading it right now.
If you havent played it returnal is worth a look
I'm a middle aged Dad getting back into gaming and am a little burned out of big open world AAA games. I used to look for what's the best bang for the buck, I enjoyed 200 hours of Cyberpunk - that's ridiculous value, but what about a list of the best 20 hour AA games?
If you’ve not tried a plagues tale and its sequel those are good AA games
Mortal Shell is short, sweet, and atmospheric
up this please
Maybe some ’Like a Dragon’. They have tons of mini-games but can be finished in a reasonable time and have a refreshing mix of dead serious main quest and goofy side activities and gameplay.
Portal 2, Subnautica, Stuntman Ignition (personal fav)
People need to play Stray. I believe it’s a really nice game that makes you think after it’s over.
Game is really underrated.
i loved playing this with my neices. they would let me do the parts with the "bugs" and I would let them endlesly run around the parts that are safe and just do cat stuff. They still like playing it when I visit lol
A game with similarly linear progression and storytelling collectibles along the way would be 'Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream'
An isometric puzzle game with - at times - multiple playable characters in a Scandinavia-esque nation during the Industrial Revolution.
You play a young woman living in the slums who is forced to evade the increasingly tyrannical and corrupt authorities while trying to find out what kind of mess your missing older brother got himself into.
It's fun and immersive.
Stray stayed with me so long after I played it. One of the most special gaming experiences of my life.
Odyssey is so good when you find a fun playstyle
Playing my first playthrough of Witcher 3 and I am loving it 🥰
It gets even better the longer you play
Jealous, one of those games I wish I could play for the 1st time again
W3 warrants all the hype and praise its received and then some. Fantastic experience, have a blast (I'm sure you will!)
Oh nice! Enjoy the rest of the game!
Currently on my third playthrough lol, cant get enough of it. Wish I could play for the first time again. Enjoy the masterpiece!
I can't get enough of Arkham games
They STILL look beautiful
I love AC: Odyssey. I get why fans of the traditional AC games might not, but I like that it leans away from that and more into open world.
I’m currently replaying forbidden west at the moment… I bought it on release and dlc played them once and didn’t pick them up again till now 4 years later enjoying them a second time round
Just finished playthrough number (I lost count) and have moved on to ghost recon breakpoint for some sniping.
@ledumpsterfire6474yeah there was definitely to much filler but the world itself was brilliant to look at and explore
@techsabbathI loved wildlands but couldn’t stay the distance for breakpoint
@ledumpsterfire6474 I actually like the newer ACs but Zero Dawn never really got me. I have no idea what it is, let me ride something, climb something & shoot stuff with the bow & I´m usually always happy.
I played all AC titles except the last one because I do not pay more than 15 bucks for these games
Thank you for showing Odyssey some love, incredible game
"MALAKA !!!!"
it really is a masterpiece.
1 of my all time favorites.
I get the itch to play the game every year. It’s about time I play the 2nd dlc since I heard that it’s even better
God damnit. I don’t have time to play games as it is but this made me want to play
its been a thing for awhile now that my son and i watch videos on this channel, you have no idea how happy he was that you called out Astrobot. its his favorite. thanks falcon
20 years from now, and we'll still talk about games like Skyrim, Witcher, Red dead, Zelda, Elden Ring, and all the other legendary ones, as if we never grew up. The nostalgia will never die.
Some real gems for sure
Nostalgia is pretty cringey too lol. Especially when corporations use it to milk every last drop of the once firm and juicy teet.
@Shiny101 True that. We want ES6 so bad, instead of remastering skyrim for the 69th time.
@BlackRavinoffbut look at their space game. They are just so outdated. Bugthesda needs to get with the times. Create a new engine or suffer the fall.
Yeah but I’m worried ES6 will just be Starfield with a different set of paint. They need to evolve their formula OR bring back complicated systems from the old games and decisions/dialogue that actually matters and changes the story.
Honestly? Really good list. The only one I might add is MGS V: The Phantom Pain as well as Arkham Knight. 2015 was a GOATed year.
He’s talking about games not movies with a side of gameplay
@Mo_MudabberSounds like you didn't play either title? They both have deeper gameplay mechanics than many of the titles on this list.
@Mo_MudabberMGS V might be the best stealth action game of all time
@Mo_Mudabber RDR2 is in this video which is literally what you're describing
This just shows how little you know. MGS4 was the one with all the cutscenes and less gameplay. MGSV and Arkham Knight were regular games.
Insane time dilation makes me not believe some of these released in the past decade
Yeah, it's weird, all of these games released just like.. 4-5 years ago? Right?
@ledumpsterfire6474 I bet you correct people who say misinformation when they factually should say disinformation don’t you
@ledumpsterfire6474 you must be a riot at parties
You should Try Mass Effects trilogy.. its one of the legendary game for me.
I love AC Odyssey
Kassandra is one of my favorite protagonists
2018 is 8 years ago already? Wew time flies by fast indeed.
Earned my respect by putting Outer Wilds in this list, This has to be the deepest game i have ever played.
It was aight...
@blad... "aight" is the greatest understatement of all time
I love this game so much❤
I wanna keep playing it but it's to horror for me for some reason and it's also very hard to finish the game..
The atmosphere and the tension is top notch for sure!
@agentsmith6161 It is indeed scary if you're scared by space, but it's worth pushing through your fears and maybe doing some exposure therapy by flying straight into Giant's Deep and the sun, etc. lol
14:45 Outer Wilds is one of the best games ever made.
And the most unique one as well.
I didn't like it at all, really tried it but it's just not for me. Makes me jealous of all of the people who enjoyed it. It sounds like the game changed their life's haha
Hype to see it on this list, totally deserved
Good to see AC Odyssey get some love. It's underrated at this point, as an open world rpg, it's super fun.
Man I bought it shortly after release and never played it. I can't remember why. I think I'm gonna give it a go
When I heard the Witcher music my whole life flashed through my eyes.
I love Odyssey. I go back to it frequently
I was trying to figure out what to tackle next from my backlog and this helped me decide. Control it is!
That'll be a fantastic run!! Enjoy and experiment!! The service weapon is a strangely satisfying gun!
Same I tried playing it years ago but giving it another shot now 🎉
Especially with Control Resonant coming out, I would really recommend it! Such a fun game, and one I wish I could go back and play for the first time
@thestraydogthat’s exactly my plan. Control, then Alan wake 2, hopefully in time for Resonant.
I’ve also got to get through Witcher 3 before the new dlc 😅
AC Odyssey is phenomenal in VR. One of the best games I've played in vr. So much content! ❤😊
1:04 Bought rdr2 right after launch, still play it almost daily and just can’t seem to get sick of it even one bit. Truly the best game I’ve ever played, and I’ve played my fair share of amazing games :,)
Playing it almost daily for 8 years is wild lol
Wr gotta get them dam o'driscolls 🎉
man this made me want to replay all these games and i barely have time to sleep as it is 😭😭
Elden Ring was the only game that made me feel like a kid again, genuinely excited to boot it up on a saturday morning and get absorbed.
I have almost 80hrs of Odyssey. Such a beautiful game.
with the 10 y anniversary of the division right now, am loving going back to the games
Still think AC Origins is one of the most transporting games of all time!
I preferred origins a lot more over valhalla... valhalla just died down for me with still so much to do...the pacing in origins felt better imo...
But I'm a pre-odessey AC fan :p
I prefer origins over odyssey
Odyssey was a slog.... not as bad as Valhalla. At least Origins still felt like an AC game.
Lol what do you mean by transporting
@unbongarcon19 Probably immersive when it comes to exploring the world, makes you feel like you're traveling in Ancient Egypt for sure ! :D
Thanks for giving some love to AC Odyssey
Great list! Now def need 2005-2015
Odyssey is AWESOME
Worth the play for sure
3:35 that music will never not have an effect on me
It’s literally perfect
Use this as the doom 2016 retrospective like button
haha maybe we'll come back with a video on it
@gameranxTV YES
No man's sky is worth revisiting if you only played it at launch
This was a good list. Nice work, Gameranx
16:10 Cyberpunk worked good for me when it came out and I still find my self going back to it today.
Yeah, for me, too. But we PC players weren't where the money was and what the controversy is about. Yeah, this. I played on PC and had no (big) issues, but PS4 players weren't so lucky. Still, the hate it got was too much imo. It was still a really good game. Just a shame that they were never honest about the quality on console and delayed it a bit.
Resident Evil 7, Marvels Spiderman, Monster hunter Worlds, Hades, Ghost of Tshushima?!
HL Alyx is the first thing I'd visit for the first time if I ever get on the VR train myself.
I don't have VR, yet, but I bought that game when it went on sale because I knew it would be an excellent first VR game to play.

Still, people seem to love it (especially if they’ve played half life games, which i havent tbh). Maybe i’ll revisit sometime.
Moved into a new place right after it came out and I kept a room empty for a few weeks so I had decent sized space to play it in lol
Ghost of Tsushima is a game that still gives me goosebumps 5 years later. I will always love it so much
Hades is also definitely worth revisiting, Roguelike/Roguelite hall of Fame for sure
Gameranx is finally here!
Hope you enjoy today's video!
@gameranxTV yay it's a gameranx video!!! ...oh no .. it's a falcon slop video 😢
They've been here. ???
I love AC Odyssey, Origins, and Valhalla. They get dissed a lot by videogame reporters, but I really enjoyed them.
the problem, at least for me, is that the trilogy actually went backwards with each game. They really misinterpreted how much Bayek will be loved by fans and decided not do a trilogy with him and it kinda sucked.
I am currently playing AC Unity for the first time. Unbelievable that it came out in 2014, it looks pretty good with the 60FPS patch on Ps5.
I remember playing Rogue, then Unity during uni to procrastinate doing my dissertation proposal... I thought Rogue was the better game!
Isnt Unity the one that released so incredibly broken that Ubisoft had to issue refunds? If it is, I remember trying it but never taking it seriously because of the bugs. I also remember that it was the only AC that the campaign was multiplayer/Co-op based.
you have no ideia how much i wish Rogue was an asset reuse from Unity rather than Black Flag
This entire list from start to finish is like my taste personified.
Amazing
Honestly loved Odyssey! The Greek mythology is one of my favorites and they did it well imo.
Nice to see Odyssey getting some recognition. It's really, really good.
I believe the biggest critique to be had on Odyssey is that it isn’t very much Assassins Creed. Not like the previous game up until Origins. But if you have given yourself some time to immerse yourself in the story of Odyssey and have played the DLC’s then you truly see how magnificent that game is
@CharleyAlex144It still has better "Assassin's Creed" gameplay and stealth than valhalla.
@MajicMathiasI agree. I’m just saying that it would be the only critique that I can think off. But I do believe that the Assassins aspect was more important to the Valhalla story. You definitely got verisimilitude from E33 😂
Its a famous quote from Richard Donner when he talks about making the og Superman films
Lol, that and facsimile are two new words which I learnt from E33.
@hawkeye137137facsimile was used in pre Internet days, the good old fax.... Basically email before email.
Just means copy
@chrissyboy7047yeah but the guy that said this didn't hear it from superman... 🤣
@just-gaming213 It was used long before then even. The fax was just a 'modern' play on the word but not the origin of it
Love to see Outer Wilds finally get some recognition!
too bad you can't really "revisit" it, as it's a game you can really only experience once. You can definitely return for the vibes and soundtrack though
Very good list
Titanfall 2 deserves a mention for raising the bar for fps campaigns!
"In Half Life: Alyx, VR feels truly necessary."
*Proceeds to show clips with a flatscreen mod installed.*
This is the second video Ive seen you guys do this with this game. Does no one at gameranx own a VR headset or something?
Cry more 😂
Great list but I think, Uncharted 4 and Ghost of Tsushima also deserved a mention :)
Yeah, also missing Horizon Zero Dawn. The bow combat, the original AF monsters and the story make it one of my favorite games of the kast decade together with TW3, God of War and CP2077.
I get that they wanted some variety in the genres though.
Verisimilitude is unironically one of my favorite words, despite it's major limitation, the need to explain the definition every time you use it.
It embiggens the vocabulary and is a perfectly cromulent word!
Outer Wilds a well-deserved mention, thank you
GAMRAAMNXXX!!! I literally just rebooted up elden ring thinking "why was i so scared?" Then i remembered
😅
Naw just learn and look up how to build in any souls game to avoid spoilers in that game. Great experience
@DTraiN5795cheers mate! I just gotta get good again 😅
A lot of people on the division 2 rn
Realism Mode is quite refreshing
The visuals alone for AC odyssey are worth playing. Beautiful ocean and vistas.
Also maybe the oiled Cassandra outfit visual?!!😁
Meh
The atmosphere of night time in Fallout 4 is peak TheNightFeeling for me.
It's like watching a Blockbuster or game store staff recommendations shelf picks. Love it.
I don't play many different games but the ones I do I play for life 😂
W3, RDR2 and FO4 are like a lifestyle 🤣
Ive probably 2000 hrs in fo4.
Such a good game.
What’s W3. Drawing a blank
@BeefNEggs057 witcher
Im with you on the first 2, but FO4 is so boring that ive only ever finished it once, out of about 50 playthroughs 😂.
@BeefNEggs057 Witcher 3
Of the newer AC games since Black Flag, i think Origins was my favorite. It was sprawling but didn't feel like an endless slog
What newer AC game comes in second place?
@gameranxTV Mirage then Odyssey, Shadows, and Valhalla way at the bottom of the list
I agree... valhalla just felt like a endless chore...while the others were sprawling and massive but less "draining" in it's endless repeating busy work..
Too bad it slogged as much as it did
@Drumox Valhalla wasn't a game as far as I'm concerned. It's interactive busywork. And that's coming from someone who enjoys simulator games.
While I like TOTK better, I get the rationale for putting BOTW on the list instead. Both games are among my all-time favorites, and I’m glad they were represented on this list
Totally agree, BotW was a revolution, but despite being only an improvement, TotK was a near perfect one.
As someone firmly in the camp of "BOTW looks like a tech demo compared to TOTK," I fully acknowledge that BOTW has earned the more historically significant and revolutionary spot.
Can't wait for 20 best outdoor games from 1801-1952
I’m very glad you included ac odyssey!
I love Assassins Creed Odyssey :) I have so many happy memories playing and just exploring their gorgeous rendition of Ancient Greece. It's my favorite of all the AC entries (I have played them all and know this is an unpopular opinion lol)
If you love that, have you tried Immortals Fenyx Rising?
@aj-ig6mg I haven't! Is it also based on history?
@history-games1765 No, it's based on Greek mythology. The same studio at Ubisoft that developed AC Odyssey did Immortals Fenyx Rising because they wanted to go deeper with the mythology. It's like a combination of AC Odyssey and Zelda Breath of the Wild. I love it. A lot of the voice cast is shared between the two games too, so you'll recognize a lot if you've played AC Odyssey. Same for some art assets.
@history-games1765 I've played both, about 1600 hours in Odyssey and about 500 in Fenyx. Well worth getting and it's always on offer somewhere.
For me it was the perfect virtual vacation during lockdown
@1:17 The first time I heard Verisimilitude was from Expedition 33, when Verso said it to Maelle.
Verso sucks. Me and all my homies hate Verso.
Spoiler alert
@blad... tell me you didn't play the game without telling me
Very surprised not to see Subnautica on here. I guess most people will have at least one game they'd assume would be on a list like this - and that's mine for sure! Oh, and Prey.
I loved Subnautica, but I’m not terribly surprised it’s not on here. If it was a list of top 30 or 40, I imagine it probably would have made it. There were just A LOT of good games over the last decade
amazing list
Thank you for giving AC Odyssey the love it deserves, it is truly a great game
At one point I was so into bloodborne and playing it nonstop anytime I was not at work with very little sleep inbetween , at one point a customer at work told me to " have a great one " and I remember being like " oh god ! " and having a mental freakout and looking out into the world in horror , 11 / 10 one of the best and greatest games to ever do the being a video game
Damn dude you went full Micolash.
Revisit Red Dead 2?!
Who in their right mind ever left?
I leave for a few years at a time in order to forget as much as possible before coming back to it
Cyberpunk turned out to be such a great game. I’m doing all the side quests
I finished all the game. Even the NCPD scanner missions on the map lol. Such a great game.
Alyx is so well optimised. They chose their environments so well, that it even looks stunning on mid range PCs and low end headsets. Truly remarkable
I love the fact that you included Fallout 4...most of the same genre videos tend to exclude the masterpiece
God I love Nier Automata that games story just stuck with me and it's crazy cuz there's some parts where the dialogue the characters aren't even anything really just reading it in their voice yet somehow does not mess up the intensity of that scene at all. That game is a masterpiece
Replicant too
More games to add to my already endless backlog 😂😂😅
There's always room for more!! My list of games I need to play is already 110 games long...so it'll be fiiiiiiine xD
@Mr3ppozz Yeah man, for real 😂 We still keep buying.
So make great games over the last 10 year it's hard to just pick 20 but I'm surprised kingdom come deliverance one or two is not on the list
100%. was surprised I didn’t see anyone comment this. Under-appreciated game for sure
Cyberpunk making it onto a list like this after *that* launch is so impressive.
Great List
I am halfway through and totally agree with the list already. Love your guy's channel. I wish Jake was also part of the falcon show.
I would add Expedition 33, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Split Fiction and a few others.
Why he keep saying Tenku
Far Cry Primal, survivor mode. Playing it right now and this game is amazing
FarCry Primal is one of those unsung gems that deserves more praise.
Absolutely loved Primal and I am not a Far Cry fan. There’s just something so enjoyable about its simplicity
I feel like I’ve seen Far Cry Primal getting more popular and that’s a good thing because I played it last year and loved it
Its really fucking inmersive
That game is so fun. Easy Platinum trophy too.
Falcon starting to enter his Adam Sessler era
Big VR gamer here. Half Life Alyx in VR is definitely a good reason to get one to start your VR journey. It's incredibly detailed and immersive.
Also, I was extremely surprised how underappreciated AC Odyssey was. Was the first game to have me take a laptop to work and binge game for the next 200+ hours. Team Alexios!!
AC Odyssey was my first AC game and I think it's great. I loved the ancient Greece setting, the story and combat. Sea combat was fun as well. Loved Atlantis DLC as well for the setting also.
19:49 maaaan.. I have 2000+ hours in Odyssey. My GOAT
Love how you called it Odyssey and not Assassin’s Creed. They’re two very separate entities in my opinion.
No way 😂
@abdoubmg4796way…
It's my best AC game. I still enjoy spending time in Greece
@SoTeekotrue.
I think you meant Parthenon instead of Pantheon. The Pantheon is Roman and the Partheon is Greek.
Pantheon is a Greek word but yes the temple is Roman
The people want more single game retrospectives from this channel 🤙
This video is an indictment of me as a gamer. I own 16 of them, have finished two with Plat, and all the rest have played for and hour or two, loved, and never gone back 😂
Odyssey was a great mention cos also ended up liking that game a lot like witcher 3 and rdr2 ended up surprising me and growing on me a lot. Voice acting is great also
As someone who isn’s super into many of the most commonly discussed games on this channel, I’m pleasantly shocked that BOTW/TOTK, Outer Wilds, and Silksong (which are among of my favorite games) are on here
But where are the live service, loot, hero, or extraction shooters that will surely be remembered in the annals of time?!?!
Oh that’s right…
Ghost of Tsushima anyone??
I love that game so much. Definitely should have been here
now this is an important list, mak a part 2.
Baldur's Gate 3 was the perfect follow-up to Dragon Age Origins that we never received from BioWare and I couldn't be more grateful for it
