Great video dude! I run an LCI 118i and my maintenance costs are around the figures you found, despite having only half the capacity and cylinders! The service pack saved my bacon in the first two years of ownership, now things are getting expensive as the car is 5 years old and that ran out in November. Glad you’re enjoying such a great car! 🎅
Mine is a 440i GC Auto. On a long run with granny driving in Eco I have achieved 42.2mpg (unbelievable) but on local runs I think its more like 25 mpg - thanks to my heavy foot or shall I say its the MPPSK not helping. Overall very happy with my machine. Love it. Keep up the good work mate. I look forward to seeing more contents from you.
I’ve had mine for 11 months, Manual, done about 6.6k miles.. I’ve spent north of £1k on fuel tbh, insurance is the same with the averages circa £800, (29yo)... to anyone looking to get one of these just do it man, life is short and enjoy it!!
I've been looking for a manual 240 for months with a quite specific spec - back of mind telling me 'you don't really need it' but Jesus I really want one, and have saved up the cash!
The running costs are pretty damn good. In 28 months, my long term MPG is 29.3 over 18k. VED is £155 per year, pair of rear tyres were £280. Insurance is c.£700 per year with mods declared. The service pack was £299 for three years / 36k. My biggest cost so far has been pissing around with it. 😂
Appreciate the videos, really interesting. I nearly purchased an M140i a few months back but my commute to work is lengthy and I bottled the fuel costs of an M140i and got a 19 plate 118D , I love it just wish I had that beautiful 3.0L. Good luck in the giveaway all
Your content is bang on mate keep it up, I keep telling myself I’ll own one of these BMWs myself one day *written whilst sat inside my 1 litre eco boost for context*
Hi mate, really enjoyed the vids over the last few months! Finally took the plunge myself and bought an m140i. Taking delivery tomorrow so this vid has come at the perfect time! 👌🏼
Go onto the M140i owner FB groups and tell them you're wanting to downgrade from your ST. Watch chaos ensure 🤣 You won't be disappointed mate, real nice cars 👍
Being a skint student, running costs certainly can't be overlooked unfortunately. I drive an Astra GTC 1.4 SRI, 140bhp... decent balance of fun and price. I'd love a car like yours though given a few more years. Keep it up mate, great stuff 😁
Car looking great...as a comparison my F40 M135i Xdrive is averaging 32.5mpg over the 16k it's done so far...mix of driving conditions so you've gotta be happy with the extra BHP and smiles you get from RWD :) Merry Xmas!
Bang on the bucks with this video! This is what I was looking for over a year ago when I bought my 240. I’m 23, with insurance at £550 (10k) Currently at 29.2 mph (with blue spark).... and..... have BMW quoting £700 for the major service 🤮. I’ll be getting that done at my specialist! Small tip for anyone considering an F series! Use decent anti bac washer fluid) save yourself on denture tablets! 😂
So yeah I'll take that free stuff now ;) Good video as usual mate. Coming up to a years ownership in January and the only thing I've had to splash out is for 4 new PS4's. Will be getting the first major service done mid way through next year as the car is on 26k miles.
Great video mate, i’m wanting a M140i so bad it’s my dream car. I’m hopefully getting one next summer. I can’t wait i’m noting all these figures down man 🤣.
Great video, I am looking to purchase one in the near future. I wasn't sure wether to go for the manual or the auto but it looks like the manual is considerably cheaper to run and maintain
I've an F21 M140i (lci2) auto with stock ecu, xhp stg 3 software for the gearbox and eibach pro kit springs. Bone stock other than that with the michelin pss. The car has covered around 30k km's (18k miles) Average fuel consumption 25mpg (9,5l/100km) with barely any motorway at all, pushing it now and then Insurance around 900euro/year (35 years old, car sleeps in my garage, residentiel area with low risk of theft) Yearly(!) 800 euro tax (welcome to belgium) I try to do oil change every year at bmw, did one last week (oil+oil filter+air filter+read out if any fault codes): was around 350 euro I can't really fault the car with anything and it is a pleasure to drive every day so I think it is worth this level of cost. I had an F20 lci 120d m sport before with nice spec and tbh the running costs weren't that much lower apart from fuel consumption obviously. But I think 25-30mpg for this glorious 3 litre straight six turbo is nothing to complain about, at all.
Great video’s. Had mine for 18 months from new. Still love every minute. Mine could do with a good clean though, if only I had some cleaning products 😉
OK. OK. OK. As Charles Leclerc once said, 'I am stupid'. The pence per mile fuel cost is wrong. I got the numbers the wrong way around when I divided them...🙃 It should be about 21p/m. Pls forgive.
Been running a 118i F20 LCI and i regret everytime for not going to the 120i or 130i. Coming from a Mini Cooper S, feel that need for power. Also it does a very high consumption. Again, thanks for the info, might exchange it anytime soon...
My M140i (auto) average is currently 25mpg. On my way to Motech in August I tickled it all the way and got it to 45mpg for the journey - 60mph all the way.
I’ve got a 2017 Auto M140i... moral of the story is they’re definitely not a cheap car to maintain and run when compared to most cars... but for the performance it gives you’ll struggle to find something more economic and bullet proof than the b58 👍 Class motor and will be mine for years and years to come :) I love my 140
The guy doing the moon walk on the stairs at 3:25 Also loving the videos im dying for a M140i but I need to wait for my NCD to increase :( £900 quid for insurance is a bargin i'm looking at 3 Grand and thinking its a steal XD
I’ve owned mine for 20months (1y8months), 5dr M140 Auto, travelled 10963 miles.. I’ve spent £2073 on fuel and my overall avg mpg is 31.48 (mixed driving) Usually see around 280 - 310 miles per tank on avg, Insurance is £429, (35yo)
Urgh didn’t get the notification for this vid! If you’re wanting to save money on servicing head to Sterling services on Preston farm. I used to work there and there the perfect honest bmw specialist. A hell of a lot cheaper than the dealer to.
100+ mile sensible-ish drives, averages 38-43mpg depending what cruise is set to/how well you cancel/coast. I have seen 52-54 in (avg speed zones), steadily drops to between 38-43 once over 50 odd miles as the calculator time increases, but then boredom hits and that soon drops. Costs about the same as my PD160 cupra to run which is hilarious same miles to tank about 330, same cost to fill usually.
This car ruins my bank account but I love it, it’s worth every penny. Can definitely say that buying one the day I turned 19 wasn’t the smartest financial decision but I’d do it again in a heartbeat, possibly the best decision I’ve ever made (even though my bank account would strongly disagree)
3:28 reverse walking guy is Mint
The reason I bought an M140i and loving every second of it! Only problem is I’m just driving everywhere for fun 😂
One day I’m gonna own one of these 🤞🏼literally the perfect spec
Been seriously thinking of getting one of these.. your videos have all the info anyone could ever need really!
Great video dude! I run an LCI 118i and my maintenance costs are around the figures you found, despite having only half the capacity and cylinders! Where do you live 800 quid!? 30 yo .. £530 I thought that was bad enough
The running costs are pretty damn good.

Yearly(!) 800 euro tax (welcome to belgium)
I try to do oil change every year at bmw, did one last week (oil+oil filter+air filter+read out if any fault codes): was around 350 euro
I can't really fault the car with anything and it is a pleasure to drive every day so I think it is worth this level of cost. I had an F20 lci 120d m sport before with nice spec and tbh the running costs weren't that much lower apart from fuel consumption obviously. It should be about 21p/m. Pls forgive.
Looking forward to owning my own one of these one day!
Well detailled video :)
Thanks mate for the info
Been running a 118i F20 LCI and i regret everytime for not going to the 120i or 130i.
Coming from a Mini Cooper S, feel that need for power. Also it does a very high consumption.
Again, thanks for the info, might exchange it anytime soon...
I drive a f20 118d and only clean it by my self so this would be a great addition for my cleaning shelf :D
