Man, Eric Turner was such a beast out there. Used to love watching him play.

20 years later, Bill Belichick coached against Pete Carroll at Super Bowl LXIX.

Metcalf was a Swiss Army knife that the Browns never used to full capacity

He was the first Reggie Bush.

I always felt those Browns teams were one feature back away from really making a run. Belichick could never commit to one guy, either due to his choice or injury.

Thirty years later, and I can still hear Nev Chandler's defeated "...Metcalf up the middle..."

I'm a Steelers fan and that 1993 game in Cleveland where Metcalf single handidly beat us on 2 punt return TD's still makes me wanna punt a kitten.

@@manhalen7046 Coming at it from the other side, that might be the only time I screamed myself hoarse listening to a game on the radio. Man, I miss the Browns being relevant enough to make Steelers games an actual rivalry.

I'm a steelers fan, but I admit the 1994 browns were a damn good team

Yeah they had a darn good team though your Steelers beat them 3 times twice in regular season and once in the playoffs that season. So your team owned them and was a bit better especially head to head.

Definitely a better pass rush, running game, and the ability to not turn the ball over, things cleveland could've used@@Wolverine607

Thanks for the fond memories! I loved that 94 Browns team. BTW, it would be great if you could find the two Bengals-Browns games from that season. Those were great too. First Bengals-Browns game that year (season opener in Cinci) had the NFL's first two-point conversion, and some awesome TD kickoff and punt returns by Baldwin and Metcalf. The second game (in Cleveland) saw a complete COLLAPSE by the Bengals in the second half where the Browns defense absolutely destroyed the QBs Klinger and Hollas, forcing the Bengals to put a then unknown 3rd string QB Jeff Blake into service. And, oh yeah, that game also featured one of the BEST Metcalf TD returns where he ran backwards 20 yards to pick up the ball on a bounce before turning it around taking it to the house. I can still hear Beasley Reece going bonkers on the TV ("METCALF IS NUCLEAR!!!!!") at the sheer awesomeness of that return! Absolute fun game!!
(BTW, the Bengals, despite the embarrassing loss, benefited by finding their pro bowl QB for most of the rest of the 90s. If the Browns hadn't knocked Klingler and Hollas out in that game, the Bengals might not have ever found out what they had in Blake! The very next week he came out as the Bengals' starting QB and torched Dallas and everyone was like "who IS this GUY!?!")

I didn't know the Browns were so good in '94. I was a GI overseas still upset that MLB went on strike
during the best INDIANS season in 40 years.

Yep. One of only 2 times that all 3 coached in the same game (1991 Jets @ Browns, Carroll was the NYJ DC that time).
