Point of interest - I use one of those wood skewers for planting seeds! Sticking the skewer into moistened soil makes it just wet enough that when you place against very small seeds, they stick. You then just stick the skewer in the soil, give a little twist to dislodge the seeds, and voila! Very easy way of planting that doesn’t require me trying to wrap my big fingers around small seeds.
These are stunning and so special because you can preserve your favorite flowers. When you get flowers for a special occasion, you can keep a piece of them forever. So very smart.!!!
This is a great project. Also very versatile; when you have used the candles, you can clean the votive and replace with a battery operated tea lights, then hang on your garden Christmas tree.
I remember when you made the paperweight with dried flowers. You inspired me to purchase the flower press book from GS. It was my Christmas gift. I'm excited to start pressing my flowers this spring/summer. I love the candles. You're so creative. 🌻💗🌻💗
Think they came out quite pretty, HELLO....they are Beautiful. I see Mother's day gifts for every mom around the world. Love the great ideas you share.
When my nephew (now 24) was little, he LOVED making miniature scenes with anything he could find around the house. He simply adored everything mini. I think it's wonderful, Laura, that you have this same "love of little," because you make a miniature garden scene every chance you get! :) Your mini gardens are our favorites. Also, I hope you decorate your church for Resurrection Sunday!
Is it weird I'm already thinking of an autumn themed one of these? And Christmas? And of course, there's Easter too. This idea never stops!! Laura, what have you done? Hahaha! Love it.
Laura, I just went to Amazon and typed in “resin”, and a whole world appeared! You can make jewelry, paper weights and much more using the dried flowers! You can have a ball next winter!!
You could also look into drying your flowers in the shape of the flower (not pressed) with a drying agent. Then do the same project or make paper weights, or "glass" Christmas ornaments with a flower in shape inside.
How beautiful! Years ago I got started press/drying small flowers and leaves! It was addicting! Love the teeny little Queen Anne's Lace (individual nodules on bigger flower). They're gorgeous on black or dark cardstock. I use big fat yellow pages. They work great.
Thank you so much Laura I Loved the video from start to finish. Very well explained. So until next time God Bless you and your family and have a Blessed Evening.
Thank you for your guidance in creating resin candleholders with flowers. May I add another idea? If you pour your resin and mix, then put it into a warm bath and allow the resin to begin curing until it gets fairly warm and thicker, you can pour it into the glasses and insert the candles. Immediately add the flowers and plant parts. In that way, you won't need to constantly poke the items down again and again. All resin products have a "flash" point for setting up as semi-cured. The trick is to find the right point for the resin you are using.
This is genius. They would make such precious gift, especially to have on hand for spur of the moment. I love that. Thanks so much for the inspiration. No matter what you do, you inspire me. Thx. 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you so much for this! My grandma just passed away and my family and I were trying to figure out ways to save some of the beautiful flowers people sent. I think we will be giving this a go. ❤
These little candles are so cute! The ideas are just swimming in my head of what I can create using nature's gift! Spring can't get here fast enough so my gardens wake up & I can get my hands dirty planting!! 😊🌿👍🤲🕯🌿
Great video Laura :) These candles are so beautiful and perfect for Spring evenings. I can't wait to make a few. My hubby gifted me a flower press for Valentines Day and it will be great to use when making the candles. It really is such a lovely way to preserve flowers and memories 🌹🌼🌹🌼🌹🌼
Am I the only one that is craving a plant room tour? You've shown it before but every time you film in there I get so curious of what you're growing in there and what succulents you're currently growing and propagating ;) Also, love the ideas to use preserved flowers from your garden, lots of gift ideas from those
Just a thought: use a glue stick, mod podge or some other type of clear adheasive to “pre stick” some of the flowers onto the votive before you put it in the resin. It may or may not work, but that might save a bit of time on having to reposition the flowers so much, plus you can kinda get it to look like you want it too without having to use a skewer. 🤷🏻♂️
I love how you where just walking through Jo Ann’s and thought I can make that. I’ve done the same thing many times. I’m thinking this would be a nice gift for my granddaughters to make in the future for teachers gifts.
I’m going to try this as I have some dried flowers. I also got some fairies from the Dollar Tree that would fit perfectly in this. I’d love to see you do a mini garden with the Dollar Tree fairy garden pieces!
These would make a perfect setting for small decoupage images or for me to use my stamps to make beautiful little fish and seaweed. Dinner settings would be another great place to use these, especially if they were personalized. You sure have inspired me this morning, my mind is reeling with ideas.
My Christmas gifts this year!! Last year I did the pressed flowers and just used old frames I had and everyone loved them!!’ This is so cool!! 🌿🕯🌺 🕯🌸🕯🌱
You could for sure get the cost per candle down to under $4 by using pretty much any other resin. I know Artsy Madwoman has a bunch of videos about resin, specifically about using dried flowers and Evan and Katelyn have put resin on everything but their cart. They have a lot of good info and resources for where to buy. This would make a really great bulk Christmas gift
You’re an excellent teacher, Laura. I especially like these accelerated, start-to-finish project videos, with no narration and then your commentary afterwards. I’d like to do a small set of these, using just ferns, but quite literally inserted. My question is: does the plant material have to be dried? Ferns would be so much more vibrant if they were fresh. I can’t see a reason why they have to e dried, do you?
Tracy there is a RUclipsr that strictly makes videos on resin. She does fresh flowers and dried. Her RUclips name is Artsy Madwoman. She has good content on resin. Hope this helps. You can dm me if you have problems finding her. Have a lovely day! 😊

Thank you for the idea - I have some flowers that are dried (special occasion flowers) and now I have a way to display them without them falling apart.
Super awesome as always 💕 and Idk if this for all resins but be careful with the fumes cuz I heard they're not safe. Same with touching it. Be careful!
Those are really cute candles. I've used 2-part resin in the past to make basket bases. I used the resin to encase flat rocks because it was easier to drill through the resin than it was to drill through the rocks. I don't remember the brand of resin I used. It came from the hardware store and set up really fast.
oh, my brain is on fire with things you put in the resin!! seashells, etc.. fun fun fun!!! lesseee... where am i at?? project #24,894,892!! so many projects!!
@@janetleeharrison thank you, I think so too!!!! I found some old typeset shelves, I'll paint them, add legs and fill the boxes with beach pebbles from my vacations and colourful flowers from my plants!! I'll try filming it as well. Have a great Sunday and a great new month!! 😊
I watched your videos about plants and gardens. I was so happy to see that you have a video on how to make resin candle holder. They are so beautiful. Before I go ahead and give it a try, could you tell me how the resin tolerate heat? will they melt if I burn a candle inside? thank you so much
Hi Laura, love love this video! Inspires me to create! Question, what leaf blower do you use? I know you have mentioned it before, but for the life of me I cannot find that video! It would be nice we could find all the info on all the tools, and materials you use in your playlist for easy reference. Thank you for all your wonderful videos!
Hey Laura!! 🙋🏻♀️ I love watching your videos. Always inspiring. I have recently moved into a home with a huge front yard and I'm struggling to keep track of where everything is planted and how much fertilizer and when to fertilize... Can you make a garden journaling video? Or at least how you keep track? Thank you!!
Hi Laura! This was so much fun! I wonder if using the flameless candles would work in some votive cups? They'd be so much easier, and safer, to use. Thank you so much for all of your DIY videos! You give us some great ideas!
What a great Christmas gift idea! Can’t wait to try. Do you have any tips for removing the candle once it’s done so you can reuse and add a new votive?

Alistair Sebastian OH MY GOODNESS... wonder if they have glow in the dark resin??
@@janaangus there is powder that you can add with resin and it will glow in dark 😍

Resin doesn't like water, so it's better to dry them first. You can use silica beads to preserve the color.
