I do not. I made that comment as a reminder that as long as you know what note you are on you can readily identify notes on the strings above and below you with B E A D G C F. The pattern never changes.
Hi' Jon, it's nice to see this video, I hope you are having a good day. Did you play in the Holocaust Survivor Band? The drummer is 90 plus years old now, he's a holocaust survivor, I know they toured all over the United States and even Europe I think, so just curious.
Hi Jon, I can't argue with anything you say. I salute you for what you bring to teaching. I love playing bass. As I alluded to in a previous comment, I learned the fretboard best by playing 2 string. For me music theory was served by keyboards, my first experience with music. Sometimes I think I am outside the scope of your lessons. Because I don't routinely play live I tend to experiment. Like today, I was playing one of my 3 string bases and my Les Paul guitar. I love to juxtaposition the role each guitar plays in a song. I love playing guitar parts on bass and playing bass parts on guitar. Just to hear how it sounds. Question, I assume you play keys and guitar. What are your thoughts on those instruments? What is your approach to them?
Generally, I try to approach the music as a whole, rather than by instrument. In my experience, some songs, lines, grooves, etc., lend themselves to a particular instrument or sound. It’s whatever the music needs.
You know this is a really good idea. I've listen to this video four times now and every time I listen to it, it makes more and more sense. I'm pumped, I'm excited, the transaction would be completed with PayPal or major credit card? Then what happens? You send the download to my email address? Or something.. 😐
I’m so glad you got a lot out of this video. Yes, you can use either PayPal or a credit card. Once the transaction is completed, you’ll immediately receive your login credentials, giving you access to the course on the “For Bass Players Only” site. I look forward to helping you with your bass playing. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks. - Jon
Sorry if I caught you off guard, Hans. This video is a follow-up to the three previous ones, which were loaded with actionable and valuable content for solving certain bass-playing problems. This one was specifically for all the people who asked how they could go even deeper. 😀
Another thought on learning the fretboard. Remember this
B E A D GCF. Helped me immensely.
Do you play a 6-string?

Thanks, AU. Nope, not me. Glad you liked the video.

Me too as I've said previously. I like playing around with sound.
