    You keep saying this car lags behind the German competitors. For what it's worth, this is a great car and I will be getting one by the end of this year. What you fail to mention is after 10 years, the Lexus won't end up in the junkyard like it's "competitors".

      Ammar Anwar every word i said is very true, and comes from experience. at the price point of the lexus you might as well get something that performs and breaks down than this uninspired slow turd of a car. if the german cars break down fuckin fix them, the jag breaks down i fuckin fix it, you cant afford to fix them then you shouldnt be buying cars in this price range. ill take performance and fun over reliability any fucking day, thats truth. lexus is reliable cause they limit what their cars can do, its not well built, they just stop you from having fun in them so theres less chance of breaking them. i hit 7k rpms on the way to the mail box, not a soul in sight, just for fun... when was the last time you red lined your lexus. do you even own a fuckin lexus or you just regurgitating someone elses opinions... cause thats pretty fuckin ignorant.

      you want point a to point b in a comfortable manner buy a fuckin prius. these premium luxury cars are meant for performance as well as luxury. Lexus gives nothing to the performance, they dont even try. you want luxury take a look at the interior and ride of a svr, or an e class or 5 series, lexus' competitors all have the same or better luxury for the same price, BUT you also get the performance. what happens trueg404 that 1% of the time when you want to be dickhead, and you got nothin? atleast that option is there with lexus' competitors and if you only want to get to point a to b in a comfortable manner than you aint no TrueG, you are a true old lady.

    Lexus GS is still a solid choice especially if you planning on keeping it for more than 4 years. I had a BMW X5 .... never again!!!!! You learn fast reliability should be at the top of factors when choosing your new car.

    I really want to like this car. But the competition is just so much better. I don't understand what's so hard to just tweak small things like the Germans do every year. How hard is it to offer an optional Pano moon roof? How hard is it update your graphics? To offer Apple/Android CarPlay, to offer cooled rear seats, to add 4g lte wifi, to redo the instrument cluster, to add AWD to the 200t models, to bump up the horsepower. The car doesn't need a redesign, just keep the updates consistent and feeling fresh. I'm a Lexus fanboy, but after seeing virtual cockpit to whatever this "Enformed" system is, I can't even recommend a Lexus over the competition. The G80 is even more advanced than this car, and that's just a refreshed Genesis.

      OpticObsidiaN you need to do some research! Front plates are used so that police have a second object to shoot lazer or radar at to get your speed (second to headlights) both are reflective surfaces. Also, prisoners would loose half of their revenue if they would require using one plate. And lastly, most law enforcement departments can read your plate from any angle regardless even if you dont have a front plate. (Hence why many states dont require you have a front plate) I come from a small town with a small budget for their police department, and after they upgraded from crown vics to suburbans a few years ago, they gained that technology. So if my small town with a small budget has that advantage, that means many many more already have it.

    I’m very surprised you don’t like the auto in this car, my family has a 2017 GS350 AWD Premium and I think the Trans is one of the best features of it. The car shifts so fast and the paddles are almost instant even when driving the car 9/10. It handles amazingly and accelerates very good for its class. The ride is alright though and the non luxury seats are terrible. Other than that it’s a great car and I highly recommend it over its competitors because it’s a great value. Ours was $50k OTD and was decently loaded (58k MSRP.) Has everything except read seat controls, wood steering wheel, and 18 way seats. Way cheaper features for price than almost everything in class.

      Tyler Beeson the transmission is just fine but once you experience the 8,9, and now 10 speed autos in the competition, you'll quickly notice the limitations of this older 6-speed in this car. It just shifts a lot slower and the gearing can knock the engine out of the meat of its power band.

    • @BeesonsCars
      @BeesonsCars 7 лет назад

      Ok, I see what you mean. I have an 07' S550 with the old 7G-Tronic transmission and it can be a dog. Shifting at awkward times and slow shifts, so the Lexus' 6 Speed feels lightning fast for me. The 7G is good for full throttle though, it's very quick and tight, but half throttle and quick on and off confuses it. Tech has really advanced a lot in the drivetrain of cars in the past 10 years.

    • @crxracer805

      No, it's not. ES is a Camry but obviously more luxurious. Both are FWD. Look at the 2018 ES and 2018 Camry SE/XSE, they are VERY SIMILAR. GS is RWD and stands as the mid size sedan between the IS and LS. Please know your cars before making a statement like that, which turns out to be inaccurate.

    Good review. I think the slow sales can partially be attributed to this car's polarizing design. Lexus has stated that all their vehicles will employ love it or hate it styling. The problem with that approach is that once the pool of "love it" buyers is exhausted, no one else is going to buy the car. After my car got totaled a few months ago, I was in the market for a new one. It came down to the Lexus GS or Infiniti Q50S. I ended up getting the Q50 because I hated the look of the GS.

    • @gengstar09
      @gengstar09 7 лет назад +2

      I just think that the competition moved too fast too quickly leaving a lot of Lexus cars uncompetitive. If it weren't for Lexus' reputation, I'd never even consider a Lexus at all. The A4 is just technologically light years ahead. Virtual Cockpit, 4G Lte, Heads up display, rear usbs, Pano moon roof, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, superior navigation, HD radio, cooled rear seats.
      Also, Lexus offering their 200 models as RWD only really hurt sales. Not just that they are so underpowered, but I want a twin turbo, but live in bad weather conditions. The 300/350 doesn't make sense to me.
      After seeing Audi's virtual cockpit LCD cluster, seeing Infiniti's and Lexus' makes me cringe, which is a shame because they used to have the better interiors.
      I actually think the styling is the only thing Lexus is doing right.

      Miko The Genesis vehicles are nice and are a good value but the interior materials are so much cheaper than the competition. You can really tell where they've cut corners to make their "value". I'm not saying that they are bad or cheap cars because they're not but you get what you pay for. I'm interested to see how the Genesis turbo engines hold up once they start getting into higher mileage.

    I feel like Lexus needs to have a better HP with the 3.5L V6. The IS has 306 HP from 2006-2017. Tbh, the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport does better gas miles than the Lexus, with 400 HP. Lexus should remodel its vehicle, especially from 2012-2017 IS, they've had the same looking car for 4 years.

    • @jaguarf-type2264
      @jaguarf-type2264 7 лет назад +5

      MJ Wild you hit the nail on the head. they can have better performance, higher torque and hp, the engine is very capable of it. this is lexus' single biggest fault. they limit what their cars can do to save on warranty repairs and to try and promote their "reliability" mystique. they know if they mapped and tuned that engine to produce 400 hp it would break down more, if they through a super charger in it it would be amazing, but that leads to more warranty repairs just like the german cars and the infiniti, they cop out on performance cause they think reliability is more important. its working for them they are numbert 2 behind mercedes right now so i dont want to shit on them too much, but if you are a performace guy, and want to be a boss on the road, dont buy a lexus, every single car in its respective class will out perform it.

    Most have actually not gotten the GS with AWD. Most are RWD. What is rare is rear wheel steering, which mine has. A GS with luxury package and AWD will most definitely not feel the sportiest. However, if you were to get the 8 speed RWD model with F sport package, this would've been a different video. The GS as far as interior tech may be behind its competitors because its essentially Lexus's first vehicle in the new era of spindle grill and it definetly shows its age. However, its is one of the better driving vehicles in the class, the most reliable, and yes the most polarizing as far as looks. If they do redesign the GS and I hope to God they do and not just give up on it, I'm pretty confident that it will receive the new twin turbo motor from the new LS, its interior and exterior will be upgraded and it will again be at the top of its class like it once was.

Embarrassing to even call a Benz.

    What State was this review in, because I tried to find a used gs350 sports luxury and no where to be found in the US. Also , I took a test drive on a 2019 gs350 f sport and I didn't here the growl like on your review here. What did I do wrong? Is there a button to turn on the sound, or does it only growl in sports+? To be fair, it was a quick test drive, and I was by myself and knew nothing about the car.

    Does anyone know if they sell the F sport package with some wood trim? I’m thinking of getting one soon but i don’t like the silver aluminum lookin trim through out the car’s dash and doors. I just think the leather with the wood looks so much better
