How did we go about writing this song?
We asked the question: What is a spiritual theme for you lately? Out of our themes - longing to delight in God alone and wanting Him be our great satisfaction - we came to a place of recognition. We are crazy messed up human beings in need of a merciful God.
From this place of honesty, we wanted to write a song that exposes roots of our sinfulness. When we fear tomorrow, we are not concerned about delighting in who God is today. When we live in arrogance, we sit on our own throne seeking to satisfy ourselves in any way we can. And both fear and arrogance cause us to doubt the fullness of God, leaving us wondering - is God really who He says He is? Does His mercy really start fresh every day?
The beauty of this confession song is how it's left open-ended. Like the psalmist, David, we wanted to be human and ask the hard questions we often wrestle with in our quiet hours. In those moments, God tends to get through to us best.

I was given free reigns to share a little about my journey (and also why you'll find my social media feeds lacking content at the moment) ;)
Let me just start by saying how good and on time my God is. Getting connected to DVIC this year was not an accident, and I am abundantly grateful for what my eyes have been opened to in such a short week. I had the opportunity to share with DVIC where my heart is for the Lord and for music. We worked through some great questions about goal-setting, utilizing social media resources, collaboration, and even transitioning through careers.
Over the years, I have been blessed with many open doors towards music, songwriting, leading worship, and the like. But for quite some time I was asking God, when is it my turn? When can I do what I feel made to do: creatively & uniquely lift up His name in song? You know how you have those moments you just wish everything would simply land in your lap?? Yeah. I've been there.
For a few months now, and especially this week, I was firmly reminded of a couple things (the kind of things I already knew, but needed to smack me in the face like a 2X4!). One, this life - this journey - music and serving God - none of it is about me. So I need to trust God, lean into who He is, and follow hard. Two, if I'm going to see anything lift off musically, I need to pick up my shovel and start digging (thanks for those words, DVIC ;) )
SO - my media channels may be slim today. But, with joy in my heart and a metaphorical shovel in my hand, I am starting to dig, my friends! I would be honored if you would consider joining me in my process of growth by following me on any of the ways listed.

Beautiful harmonies, great message. When we get to that place of realizing how deep our sinfulness runs and we have no other choice but to cry out to a holy God, a savior, a redeemer. It can be a hard place to get to , but what a sweet place to be. Amen!!

I lead worship for my small church, along with another lady. I'm always searching for inspiration (and a more contemporary sound). We actually don't have any musicians presently...except our pastor who sometimes plays guitar with us. We're doing Eye of the Storm this week with him. Super Excited!
So we usually use canned music...which I don't love. But we do the best we can with what we have.
Thanks for all the work you put into your posts! I know that if it takes me 4 hours to make a worship presentation on the computer and have a practice, then you're putting much more work than that into your professional looking videos.
