    From that clip, I saw absolutely nothing for Milan to be upset about.

      Though it might be that he let phillipson in on the barrier?! Otherwise, can't see anything either

      They showed the race a little bit further back on Peacock. It looked like Milan and Girmay were bumping and leaning into each other, but nothing you don’t see multiple times during sprints. Milan seemed to be overreacting. 🤷‍♂️

    Jonas and Visma showing that they aren't going to sit around and take punches until the mountains. I think this GC contest is going to be a lot closer than people thought.

    MVDP looking aggressive, Alpecin as a team putting their hands up and saying this isn't a two horse race, it's great too. This year has bought the entertainment factor and it's only stage 2 , if this keeps up then this year is going to be an epic Tour.

    Pog cannot out sprint Mvdp over flat or hilly stage if he starts behind 100 metres out. He has to be ahead. He should learn from similar narrow defeats to him

    Flat finishes aren’t about W/kg but pure horsepower.
    Van der Poel can blast ~1350 W for 10 s; Pogacar peaks around 1100 W, so even in perfect draft he’s missing the extra 200 W to come around. Put the same guys on an 8 % ramp and the roles reverse.

    • @theovanderstorm3171

      Far more sponsorship money on the line than in the old days equals everyone being under maximum pressure to produce. Sprinters' teams fight to keep them up front and in contention, GC teams fight to keep their GC guys up front and "out of trouble." There's only so much room up front.

    • @theovanderstorm3171
      @theovanderstorm3171 8 months ago +2

      Much higher speed in general, other, stiffer bikes, hydraulic disk brakes.

      I agree. Ended up watching some Boonen sprint wins last night when talking about the sprints with my son. The sprints were a lot more chaotic back then with riders switching lines all over the place...yet very few crashes
