Watching this game speedrun is truly impressive. This has to be one of the most awkward designed platforming games every created. Even beating it should be an accomplishment so flying thru it with any amount of skill is mind-boggling.
I was very young when we bought this game. I think I would try to figure out the first level every couple months or so, but never did know what to do. Finally, at some point, I figured it out, and the game opened up for me. TMR, of course, makes it look easy. The controls are so painfully bad that some of those platforming segments are very tough. I did beat this once as a kid, just to say I did it. The game itself is prety bad, but seeing this run, I kinda want to play it again.
I'm feeling proud that I actually beat this game as a kid. But it was nerve wrecking and took me hell of a lot longer than half an hour. Always had trouble with the air flow jumps at 19:40 and I didn't know I could avoid that puzzle.
This was one of the first games we got with our NES as we were a big simpson fan family. Thought it was hard as a kid but my older brother could beat it with all the letters etc. Some things were so hard to figure out!
Wow, what were the developers of this game smoking? Even this speed runner died a few times, and I understand he died intentionally a few times, but not always. The platform jumping is also insanely unforgiving. What's worse is being the very first Simpsons game, what other gaming option did you have if you were a Simpsons fan? None.
Great run as always TMR! I've been playing this game for the first time in 20 years after seeing your world record run. I still can't get past the museum stage.
13:47 I guess the purple letters on the "keep out" sign aren't important, huh? nor are bart's shorts and shoes, although one could argue those are blue
Who was the target audience for this game? I had it as a kid and could never figure out what to do. And watching it now I can't imagine having the patience to figuring out the complexity of each level.
If you rented this from a video store, got it at a yard sale, or were just a kid who had parents that threw out boxes, you had no manual. Google and RUclips didn't exist in 1991.
I hadn't seen or thought of this game in decades. I can't believe that when I was five or six I could actually get to the fourth stage. I was never able to figure out how to beat the tyrannosaurus, though. In fact, up until now, I thought it was the boss of the stage. It doesn't matter, though, I suppose. There is no way I would have been able to beat the fifth stage.
Man I remember renting this game from Blockbuster thinking it would be like the Simpsons Arcade game. It wasn't. It definitely wasn't. One of my first big rental disappointments that I can remember.
In Spanish is ''rasca y pica'', which it is a literal translation of itchy and scratchy, the spanish version he's talking about is the mexican and their names don't make any sense ;)
Er PaBlEtOr I mean, their names in Latin Spanish are obviously a reference to Tom and Jerry, and it kinda fits them more than "rasca y pica", those names sound like a phrase you would read in a Lottery Ticket or something.
Huh. I always thought that if you didn't "recruit" each family member in their stage, they weren't available in the last one. More #InstructionManualLies I guess...
"Hey, the speedrunner, the person we're supposed to be watching in the first place, should shut up because one whole person can't understand his accent."

TMR probably the best runner to ever touch an NES, so much skill and such a humble and polite person, always a pleasure to watch him work.
I could never pass the first level of this game as a kid. It made no damn sense.
AVGN did an episode on this game you're not alone
Same, but mine may have been because I was playing on a black and white tv
I had the same problem, my bro and I never even got to Nelson
I got to the circus
there's an awkward depth to this side-scroller that if something was on the bottom of the screen, you were in danger. Lol.

Great run of a truly execrable game.
Nostalgia. Painful, painful nostalgia.
BUT IT HURTS SO GOOD D:
Oh man so painful
11:04 in case you want to get straight to the game
Thanks
Oh! Stab me in the heart. I loved this game when I was a kid!
Me too
I'm feeling proud that I actually beat this game as a kid. But it was nerve wrecking and took me hell of a lot longer than half an hour. Always had trouble with the air flow jumps at 19:40 and I didn't know I could avoid that puzzle.
That miscolour on marge and Lisa at the end. Just swap em and they’re fine
the ending with bart looks like one of the real life simpons images, which are terrifying. And yeah, i never got passed the first level as a kid.
I remember the second level being SOOO flipping hard when I was a kid back in the 80s!
Hardest game I ever played as a kid. Frustrated me so many times. The savage later levels and the inability to save.
Gamers today got it easy... lol.

The guy playing seems like the kinda dude I’d grab a beer with
Aweful Block at AGDQ is best block. :)

The game was absolute trash! I remember playing after playing the Simpson's arcade game. I'm still mad that game never got a console release.
This game was a total cash grab, it was pretty common during 8 and 16 bit era than most licensed games from shows and movies were utter shit.
this guy is absolutely superb player. this game is so hard!
28:20-28:35 For me this is correct. As a kid playing this game I never made it past the museum. Everything after that is completely new to me.
Great speedrun and great runner!

this run now wants me to run this game. thank you
TMR! NoMames NoMames
That name incentive for Ultima VI. The feels bruh.
Im so proud Ive beaten this game as a kid!
Announcer should've said "Bake it away toys" instead of "Take it away guys".
Plot of this game: “Child goes on a spree to slake his delusional hallucinations.” 😂
Good run. Enjoyable to watch! After that first level, this could have been any game.
Funny guy and hard game. I enjoyed watching him!
I would love someone to speedrun the simpsons arcade game, loved that game as a kid.
had this game as a kid, I think I only ever beat level 1.
I remember I never got past the big wheel on level 3... had no idea that was the last step before the boss!!!
the runner made it fun and entertaining
The hardest part for me is those jumps where you have to land on something two pixels wide, combined with the slippery physics.
Start around 11:00
12:30 When did Mojo Jojo become the new owner of Moes Tavern?
starting at 12:00
TMR is great!
No mummies in the halls
Wow I had a cow man, AT THIS FU^$*@! GAME !

Simpson Hit and Run when?
Who in the right mind would use the death sound as a miniboss theme?!
YES
That game was hard af!!
Man I remember renting this game from Blockbuster thinking it would be like the Simpsons Arcade game. It wasn't. It definitely wasn't. One of my first big rental disappointments that I can remember.
Well done! :)
11:05 is the start
I really hope you get lots of donations!
TMR!
In Spanish is ''rasca y pica'', which it is a literal translation of itchy and scratchy, the spanish version he's talking about is the mexican and their names don't make any sense ;)
Well, it's more like a reference to Tom and Jerry.
Oddly, Latin American subtitles (not dubbing) use rasca y pica.
Todos sabemos que la traduccion Latina es mejor que la Española :3 Onda Vital al Kamehame ha? xD
Pica y rasca.
Er PaBlEtOr I mean, their names in Latin Spanish are obviously a reference to Tom and Jerry, and it kinda fits them more than "rasca y pica", those names sound like a phrase you would read in a Lottery Ticket or something.
I Love when TMR sometimes in Poland! Btw, what country he from? He doesn't English accent.
I mean, the country is in his name....
the MEXICAN runner lol
He's from Mexico, Arizona.
Had the disgrace of buying a pack with NES and this game, never beat the second level.
if you gave me 19 HOURS idk if I could beat this still lol
GRAND MA!? SEEMPSENS!?
Wow as a kid I never saw past the 1st level
This game was impossible when I was a kid. The nerve to have a countdown timer
I want to know what the game designers were thinking . Did they test the game? A pro gamer can almost complete the game :)
Tomy y Daly
Huh. I always thought that if you didn't "recruit" each family member in their stage, they weren't available in the last one.
More #InstructionManualLies I guess...

I hated this game, didn't even watch the damn Simpsons and yet played this awful game way too much as a kid. Smdh
This game sucked so bad.
I used to have it back in the day.
This game was so full of shit I have no words :)
This game looks really ... Bad. Glad i didn't have to play it!
oh THERE WAS SO MUCH MORE, SOME WERE 10 TIMES WORSE THAN THIS! Go watch AVGN he does a lot of the old NES games lol
No mames man, no Mames.
Bart fart hahaaha
Seriously 11 minutes of mind numbing crap before what I clicked your video for?...
This was the worst game I've ever seen.
This game was absolute horseshit
This one was hard to watch. Yikes
??? It was a good run, what was different about this one compared to the others?
Should just let the English guy speak I'm struggling to understand anything you're saying 😢
Im french and had no trouble understanding, you should try to focus a bit more
PowerZordan we I tried just find it difficult I'm not so bright and I struggle with different accents
The more TMR talks the better. The english guy is boring.
I had no problem understanding him as well
"Hey, the speedrunner, the person we're supposed to be watching in the first place, should shut up because one whole person can't understand his accent."
Stick to cuphead scrub lol jk
`Isabelle Ringing` Your impressions were awful ... turned it off right there and then. 👎
