  • I will continue to answer all questions to the best of my ability in the comment section of this video. I encourage everyone to please check out my other content regarding the use of ultrawide monitors. I have a playlist dedicated to benchmark testing using the 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratios.

    i forgot what resolution it was for my 3440x1400 monitor, and this video saved my butt, couldnt figure out how to get obs to proper aspect without black bars and viola, double the ratio to fix it. fantabulous!!!

    I did a test tonight when streaming to RUclips, and you can just stream to RUclips now in 21:9. Unsure when this changed as a few months ago you could not, but seems like it just works now. Can be a win for people not wanting to use Twitch.

      With Twitch being so big for streaming it's a shame you have to jump through hoops to get it to work.

    You’re a life saver! This looked great on my end. Thank you so much!
    I’m curious to know if you ever experienced any buffering issues when streaming in this format? When I test my live on Facebook, it says that the resolution is too high and that 1920x1080 is recommended and could improve real-time interaction…but when I time it myself using a timer, the latency is almost identical.
    I know Twitch and Facebook will probably be yield different results since they are completely different, but just curious about that part

      Glad this video still works. Again, why you need this work around for Twitch being as big as it is definitely is annoying. I wouldn't recommend doing this for Facebook because most people on there are limited in what they are using to watch you. People will need an ultrawide monitor for viewing your stream full screen and most people on Facebook use phones anyway. If you really want to use Facebook, then you're probably fine with leaving it like it is without changing it since it's mostly a recommendation.

      Also the buffering issues are definitely format related. It has problems loading up ultrawide aspect ratios when someone is on something such as a phone or in some cases 16:9. It shouldn't have issues with that if you're viewing on the 21:9 aspect ratio.

    I have these exact settings and my stream looks awesome watching my ultrawide monitor. When I try to watch my stream from my Xbox series X on the twitch app, the app crashes. Anyone know a fix or a reason for this?

    • @AlienTech1
      @AlienTech1  7 месяцев назад

      Yes. Xbox doesn't support ultrawide aspect ratios. That is probably the reason for the crashing as well. Even hooking up the Xbox to the ultrawide monitor won't work.

    So what would I do if my native resolution is 3440x1440?

    • @AlienTech1
      @AlienTech1  Год назад +1

      Okay I also have the same resolution now. What worked for me is putting the base canvas resolution to 2560x1080 and then the 3440x1440 on output scaled. Then set to fit to screen. It doesnt fully fit but its the best you can do from what I know.

      @@AlienTech1 I just tried it, I still have huge bars on top and bottom.
      Okay so for everyone else that doesn't really understand it, so far, if you want to stream on a 21:9 Monitor without black bars, you can't. What you can do on the other hand is decide, which ratio you want to stream. I play on 21:9, stream 16:9, meaning everyone with a 21:9 monitor will have black bars left and right, but everyone with a 16:9 monitor won't. Its a little streched, but honestly its fine for me.
      Base 3440x1440 and output is 1920x1080.

    • @AlienTech1

      @@vymere9728I understand that you will have black bars on the top & bottom. However for anyone watching in that aspect ratio it will be full screen. This guide was more so to fix the windowboxing video that occurs without implementing these steps in the video.
