  • Thule Approach Roof Top Tent in Snow - 4 Season Use?!
We have been loving the spacious Thule Approach 4-person tent since it came in to test this summer. But, I was a bit worried that it might not be able to handle cold temps and snow in the Colorado winter.
So, I took it out on a half dozen winter camping trips with temps as low as -5F and several inches of snow. Turns out this ten can handle the wind, cold and snow better than I hoped! Plus it is still quick to pack away after you are done camping.

I bought the insulator for our L and tried it out in weather not as cold as the video. We have really heavy warm sleeping bags so we were warm through the night as long as we stayed under the covers. The insulator did help some but I would like to invest in a diesel heater and see how that does. The insulator does make it feel cozy inside and was fun to hook up. We are also in Colorado so cold weather camping is something we enjoy. The tips on down bags and thermal sleeping pads sounds worth looking into also. I find the mattress is a bit thin for side sleeping.

Hey buddy! Thanks further nice note! I agree in the stock pad being a bit thin. I have been adding a thermarest, big Agnes or exped pad to the mix the true winter camping. It has worked wonders in temps dish to -5.
I have seen my friends use a diesel heater in their set up’s and been much warmer than me. That is something I need to look into for sure! From what I’ve seen, it’s a game changer!

Nice to see that it works well in the winter. About to pull the trigger on a medium sized one. Do you use insulated winter walls from Thule?
It better work well in the winter Thule's offices is in Malmö, southern Sweden, about as far north as Edmonton in Canada.
