To me (don't shoot me) it seems a little like roaming through scales on the guitar. Constructive criticism only, as I am quite the beginner here.

Dude DUDE this is the video! I watched this a few years ago and it genuinely was what sparked my interest in piano. Seeing how insanely easy it was to play something on the piano that sounds good was what actually motivated me to start. 3 years later and the piano has become a huge part of my life and lowkey made me some money lol (and hopefully more in the future). If I never saw this video, I actually have no idea where I would've ever started playing. Crazy the influence one dude and one video can have 😳

This thing got me through my music exam.
So I was doing Music Tech at college and I could not make sense of the few music theory lessons I had. For the upcoming exam, I had to create my own piece of music to fit the assesment criteria and I had no idea what to do. Every time I tried to make a tune, it always came out as a discordant mess. For the assesment, I had to make a 4 minute song and I had never even made a piece longer than 30 seconds. I had seen this video a few months beforehand and when the exam date rolled around, I though *screw it* and used the techniques in the video and made my first 4 minute composition.
Fastforward to the present day and I somehow got a B.

As a fairly experienced pianist, I can say that this is pretty convincing. One thing you could do to improve this is to teach a few simple melodies that sound good to make what you're playing seem structured. I honestly think I would have been legitimately fooled if you had done that. P.S: Where tf is the second pedal

I can't say this enough, THANK YOU! I have a fairly musical ear, I play guitar and compose some electronic music, but I have never really known how to play the piano well, or learned to read sheet music quick enough to play along despite attending piano lessons as a kid. I can play some, but I always have to memorize the song and practice a lot before I can do it.
I have a keyboard which I use sometimes when making music but I always have to learn the notes by heart and usually record several times until I get it right. Now I've been jamming the four-chord song every night for a few days, I'm having a blast improvising some melodies on the fly, and I'm basically practicing my finger technique and rhythm instead of worrying about hitting the right keys. THANK YOU! This is starting to sound like a religious testimonial but really, this video is a lifesaver.
Oh how I WISH I had been taught some of these basics of harmonic chords when I was learning the piano all those years ago. Instead I was trying agonizingly slow to make sense of some dots on paper and got the JOY of music completely killed off.
I took lessons too when I was younger and I felt the same way about it. Thanks for the comment Im glad it helped you out.

It is much harder to fake it with guitar, or any string instrument - piano is laid out logically and even random notes can sound OK - not so on a guitar, try it and see.

But for real, your teacher apparently just tought you to play some songs without giving you pure basic background knowledge. This guy here plays this pattern just on the white keys (in c-ionian (g-mixolydian, a-eonian, f-lydian but I'm pretty sure he doesn't know that himself :D)) which gives you the opportunity to play everything that comes into your mind to sound harmonic. After twenty seconds this 'tactic' makes every musician yawn but it seems like it's enough to impress some people here.

As a pianist, I have a teensy advice for your playing. When you are transitioning from one chord to another, you want to let go of the sustain pedal, that will make it flow better. If you hold it down the whole time, the chords will merge together and it won’t sound good.

by myself. i listen to a song and can play it on the piano, i just have to find the notes and chords
I play everything by ear. Staying on beat is natural and never learned from anyone. I play drums, piano, bass guitar and I use to DJ.

Awesome video. But one minor tip that might help. You don't really wanna stay on the sustain pedal constantly. You need to let off every time you change chords. Otherwise, all your music will be jumbled together. And by doing that, in a way, it kinda helps a little in your idea. It makes people wonder, "Wow, what's he doing with his foot? This guy IS a real pro. I've always wondered what those pedals were for and here's him actually using them!"
