    New Komoot user and absolutely love it! Does anyone know how to add tour descriptions? I've noticed most publicly available tours show a name and description at the top but I cannot find the description field on my publicly shared tours...any help!?

      Thank you so much 😀 yes it is great! You can add descriptions to your ride by writing a comment on it and if you make several rides into a collection you can ride the description into your collection

    Have been using Komoot for a short while and for one longer trip so far, pretty good. I can see the Eurovelo routes, nice alternative to busy roads, do you know however if there is a way to tell Komoot when planning the route to use Eurovelo as often as possible or do I have to do that manually? Un saludo desde Mallorca!

    Komoot is a nightmare. It’ll take you off main roads for a dirt track and back on the road again.

    • @miesepie
      @miesepie 5 месяцев назад +8

      Why the hate? 🙂 I used Komoot in Europe, Indonesia and Japan for bike touring/packing. Especially in Indonesia and Japan, where there is basically no cycling infrastructure and no Komoot users providing pre-planned routes, Komoot provided me with excellent routes. Small back country roads with beautiful scenery and no cars. Only on certain bottlenecks, you get back to the main road, to then go to the back roads again at the first opportunity. The algorithm has a very good balance between reaching your destination without excessive detours and cycling off the main roads.

    • @sherab2078
      @sherab2078 5 месяцев назад +2

      @damianlud, if you planning from scratch it is you still responsible for your route. Komoot will suggest for you some specific path based on the sport chosen and preferred difficulty, but you will still have to change it to your liking. If you want to avoid dirt roads from the beginning, try to set the sport to road cycling - Komoot will try to stick to tarmac as much as possible then. If you set it to touring it will admix some dirt roads, and if you set it to gravel it will almost preferentially choose dirt roads. I haven't tried MTB, so I don't know how much the algorithm differs from gravel riding.

      Off main road = better cause it's away from traffic. Dirt track = better cause more fun cycling. So in my mind it's great :D The issue is that it takes you back to the main road, which is usually full of cars and just boring to cycle on. But as mentioned above, it's still on you to double check the route before setting off. I personally didn't find an app that does things better than Komoot for my style of cycling.

    • @nuenn
      @nuenn 5 месяцев назад

      @@miesepie It has nothing to do with hate - Komoot is simply unusable. I used Komoot for five years and when I find MapOut I never used Komoot again. And I've planned my whole track around the world with it and stored all tracks, campgrounds, cycletracks and accomodations on my iPhone as well as all offline maps.
      Draw routes with your finger and you'll get immediately an altitude profile and the length of the track.
      Sorry, but for planning Komoot is really a nightmare

      @@nuennThough I agree that Komoots routing is sometimes not optimal (the example you gave is one of my pet peeves) i would strongly disagree that "komoot is unusable" and i actually really like komoots routing 95% of the time and it has taken me on some beautiful roads that i would have never found otherwise. I would be happy to try out MapOut, if it is as good as you say though
