This grotesque unAmerican mindset is what leftists have been perpetuating since before they first suggested that an individual's capabilities and decisions are dictated by what their skin looks like. They believed that an individual with black skin was less capable well over a century ago, and sadly, they're still perpetuating this observable and verifiable horseshit to this very day. Just because leftists think that an individual can't even figure out how to get an ID but only if their skin is black, doesn't mean that good and decent Americans at heart share the left's same horrific mentality.
As a Black person who lives in an Atlanta suburban. Ryan example is EXTREMELY disingenuous and an outright lie. No one can stop you from moving into any suburb based on race. It's very illegal to do that, and the consequences for that is very high. So, even if they were redrawing the lines to exclude poor areas for schools, that is a class issue and not a race issue. I live in a diverse neighborhood, my wife is a Doctor, I'm a contractor, we are not poor, and neither are any of our neighbors. The house to left of me is Korean, the house to the right of me is Jamaican. The house across from me is white. And my entire neighborhood is diverse (hate this word) in this way.

I agree. I’m black. Working medicine. Makeover $300,000 a year. I live in Brooklyn New York. All I see is successful thriving people of all races. Yep, taking care and maintaining the house over the years is far more important than who built the house 30, 50, 100+years ago. Blacks should be able to teach themselves and each other. White people cannot raise a black child with black parents. I was a big brother for a black kid, all he wanted was presents, he hated me otherwise no matter how nice and caring I was to him. 100% As a former loan officer at a major bank I can confirm that your race has zero impact on your rate. Most people working on your loan probably don’t even know your skin color and they don’t care if you’re black, white or purple. All they care about is closing the loan and getting paid. Besides, all rates and rules are publicly available, so you can figure out exactly what rate you’re going to qualify for.
Yes his "black sounding name" loan applicant story is total horse manure. You have a credit score, a loan and payment history, money in bank accounts that are all tied to your SSN not some name whether fictitious or not.
I'm black and have excellent credit (FICO score over 780), and anytime I apply for any credit, mortgage or otherwise, I always get the absolute best rate available. It's never even a question. When I was younger and had bad credit, the rates I got were reflected in that. So what in the world is this guy talking about saying blacks with good credit are getting higher mortgage rates?? What "accepted" studies is he referring to because I'd bet my bottom dollar it's a bs lib study meant to portray us blacks as helpless victims.
I've been in corporate sales for 10 years. The rise of DEI hires is unfair for us and it's unfair for them when they hit our team. The Chew top performers on my team for almost a decade are black. Looking at their metrics they often do two times sometimes three times the amount of work of a regular rep. This is very hard, challenging, mentally exhaustive work. The very best person on my team is black, and he is so dialed in inconsistent over the last five years that it's impressive to watch true. Mamba mentality will not lose bulletproof mindset. That being said, when a Dei higher hits the team and they are hilariously underprepared, all it does is create more stress that we have to pick up the slack of these people. Yes I said these people lol. It's actually embarrassing to these top performers because they know it and we all know it. These new hires are taking the place of someone better qualified and more prepared period end of story.
@@rackt09 you can't win with these people. If banks were handing out loans like candy to bad credit risk people, they'd be accused of predatory lending.
The problem is,, our government keeps forcing banks to take higher risks in order to get more black families into mortgages. If you regularly lend your car to Puerto Rican immigrants, you are 3 times more likely to get dropped by your insurance company. It's not racism... it's common sense. They crash a lot.
That guy is full of crap. I'm black, and bought a home at 37. I cosigned a loan for my brother who didn't pay back his loan and it destroyed my credit score. So I took two years to focus purely on my credit. My credit score went from 515 to 705 in two years. I got approved for a house loan, got a second job to pay it off faster, and now my credit score is 798. It's not a system issue, it's a culture issue. The one advantage i have that most don't have is both parents. My father had been in all of our lives ever and we were born. Our parents were poor growing up, but none of us, even my brother who was a two time convicted felon aren't nearly as poor as we were growing up.
Thank you. It's cultural. The moment a black person can distance themselves from the part of the community that calls them white for not being stupid with their money, that's the moment you realize the system isn't racist. And that's also why the dems keep trying to shame you back into that culture.
You're exactly right. We need to advocate for more black men being in the hoke, instead of them being pushed to the side in favor of state benefits tbat women run to, it leaves the holes fatherless, no guidance at all, we need our fathers, I don't know where I would be if I didn't have my dad in my life, I'm grateful for him everyday
I would like to congratulate you on a short turnaround of your credit score. That could not have been easy. I had to do something similar so my husband and I could purchase a home, and there were nights I felt like I was torturing myself. It's difficult. It's even more difficult to stay on point the entire time. In my experience, anyway. It comes down to you owning a hard work ethic and being able to see your goals through to the end. You should probably do some volunteer work in high schools to get them started on the right path.

As a mortgage loan officer from Atlanta, Ryan knows absolutely nothing about either of those topics. Atlanta is incredibly integrated, and there are very extensive anti discrimination laws in place to make sure loaners can’t discriminate on race.
I'm curious how that works. Because all it takes is for a smart person to look at the statistics to claim racism. Just pick some dimension and keep tweaking the data until you get the result you want.
@@KhorneBrzrkr No. You make a computer model of how you score applicants. The laws preclude using race or any proxy for race, or gender etc., in your scoring. Proxy means you can't use address plus demographic data to tease out probable race as an example. No, you cannot use the name of someone as a criteria, it makes no sense. Whatever you do needs to be auditable so someone can go back and see if you are trying to cheat your way around the law. So in the end you have a bunch of numbers like income, various expenses, credit score, cost of the home you want to buy, downpayment, etc. and you spit out a score. Or, if that isn't sufficient, they take other data such as something like "black people on average have a credit score 100 points lower than white applicants, therefore credit scores are racist and shouldn't be considered for mortgages" (I made up that statistic). And then, once again, its up to the lending agency to prove they aren't racist. You can do this a million different ways. Credit: This assesses a borrower’s credit history and score, indicating their ability to repay debts based on past payment behavior. 2. The interviewer claimed that its more difficult for black people to get a mortgage but mentioned the "sub-prime mortgage wipeout of 2008". Why was there a sub-prime mortgage wipeout in 2008? Because the government forced banks to make loans to black people whose credit score was below par in order to allow more black people to own their own homes. Unfortunately, the government was wrong. All those people who lost their homes and ended up in long-term debt would have been much better off if their mortgage applications had been rejected.
Not just black people, many people couldn’t make mortgage payments and defaulted. The idiots (democrats) changed loan rules/laws so that people could buy with very little or no money down. When they lost their jobs couldn’t make payments, they had no equity in the home and walked away.
There were lots of reasons for the 2008 collapse: the govt's bad policies, banks' bad policies, people being irresponsible & stupid, etc. To mess up that badly, everyone involved had to screw up. - Govt policies intended to help blacks often hurt them. Welfare, forcing banks to issue subprime loans, affirmative action in universities, etc.--all these actually harm the people they are supposed to help. Speaking of what a system does being its purpose, who thinks this guy would condemn liberal policies like the 'great society' when its results are exactly opposite of its claimed intent? The fact is that line is used by hacks to criticize things he doesn't like, but he he ignores it for things he likes. - Lack of education across the board, excess greed, lack of responsibility, etc., all led people to do things that were stupid and financially reckless. Each of them caused it. I wasn't reckless at the time, despite banks offering me bigger, unnecessary loans, I chose what was prudent, and I was just fine. - Banks went beyond govt requirements and chased profits despite risk. They figured they could pawn the risk off on others through products regulators didn't understand (another example of a group who failed). Some did it successfully, while others blew up.
Exactly. And liberals will claim “unintended consequences” if they acknowledge the root of the problem at all. But Mr Grimm just suggested that good intentions in a system are irrelevant if the system causes, in his argument, racism. Could we talk for a moment about how unintended consequences of anti-racist regulation absolutely should be discussed even if liberals can claim their intentions were good? He’s shooting himself in the foot, unsurprisingly.
Banks looks at borrowing risk, period. In fact, I would think they would defer the PR risk of a “race-based loan program” scandal in favor of metrics of your credit profile and how likely you are to default on said loan.

Then he backs it up by saying it's generally accepted. Maybe accepted by him but that's the whole point of the discussion in that Walsh doesn't accept his premise. Grimm must think that if he really believes something is true then it must be even if he can't document or prove it's true.

So an example of the system is what it does being fallacious is speed cameras. Speed cameras cannot be racist since they do not have the ability to take a picture based on the race of the driver. If therefore, the result of a speed camera system is to take pictures of twice as many black people as in the general public who drive, then it would be labeled as racist because "it is what if does". But it doesn't do what they think they are doing. This is a problem of falsely ascribed causality. We have similar examples in sexism. If a job shows almost exclusively males, is it a demonstration of sexism as a bias? They would argue yes, and presumably look to some jobs like executives, pilots, etc... But then look at bricklayers, heavy machinery mechanics and deep mine workers. All of a sudden they lose their verve. Inconsistent bullshit.

Black borrowers: 17.4% Hispanic borrowers: 13.7% White borrowers: 6.9% Asian borrowers: 4.3% Every time bank give out loans they're taking a risk. If the default rate is much higher amongst certain type of people it's understandable to increase the rate.
My mom and I watched a wonderful documentary on Mowtown and they talked about hwo when Mowtown first got started, there were conversations about whether they wanted white people to listen to their music, but one of the founders said that music only knows one color and it's green 🙂 so to hear you say that about the banks - so true!
The host is full of it regarding Georgia. I live in what used to be considered the most conservative county, Cobb. My neighborhood is houses at $400k and up. My neighbor directly across the street is black, neighbor next to him is black, next to that is black.
Can you tell me why it was thought to be racist to say "colored people" in the 1970s but now it's demanded we call non-whites "people of color" now? This makes no sense to me.

Thomas Sowell did address this but I would pushback on the same of his points. Not necessarily on "race", even if there is a level of merit. Definitely on location.
@@mattmalcolm534 I think that plays a small percentage to the issue. Just buy a house. Feds use language to tell half-truths. I would say let's look at our economy now. Especially seeing how they just drop interest rates? The job is irrelevant. If over the years you've also increased the price of the product. So yes there is a lower interest rate but it's still a higher price. I will use that as one example of what I am referring to. I agree location impact is definitely going to determine the value of your property. So a $300,000 house here is essentially a mansion. I live upstate New York. A $300,000 house in New York City is trash.
I can't take this BS anymore. I recently just purchased a home, and what it easy, no! I am retired, have a bit of money, good credit score, but my debt to income ratio wasn't what they wanted. I had to put down a huge down payment and I got my home. And I am white!
I once engaged in a discussion on with folks, most of whom were black, on the train heading home that the Constitution was written to provide individual liberty for everyone. There was general disagreement since, at the time it was ratified, there was still slavery. My argument was that whether or not the principles laid down by the founders were inclusive of slaves or not at the time, the die was cast. Eventually, because of those principles, slavery was doomed and equality under the law was assured. Most of my friends offered up Dred Scott as a refutation of my argument. I further argued that Dred Scott was judicial activism. A decision handed down by a court that ignored the Constitution. Had there been strict constructionists deciding that case there could never have been such a decision. What is written in the law does matter. Those things that violate the Constitution, even egregiously bad decisions by courts of the past, must eventually be made right. That is the promise of the document no matter how men try to circumvent it. It is the system.
People judging the world by today's standards is so frustrating. Why don't people acknowledge Britain and then America where the first nations in known history to outlaw slavery? What other nation has been perfect from the beginning? Why don't people know over 500,000 WHITE Union soldiers died fighting to end slavery? At least you had the patience to try and have a conversation with folks about it.
@@olliefoxx7165 Thank you for that. Yes, it is frustrating. Change doesn't happen overnight. It often takes time for actions to catch up with ideals and as you pointed out, the process can be devastating.
There's a big problem these days where people cherry-pick data that supports their case and ignore data that doesn't. So, for example, if there is ONE instance of local governments "gerrymandering schools", then that ONE instance needs to be rooted out and fixed, because it's clearly discriminatory (and probably illegal), however, you can't then extrapolate that and say, "the system is discriminatory because this ONE instance exists". The bottom line is discrimination is illegal, and if it exists, it needs to be addressed, but the way to address it is NOT, for instance, to enforce quotas on entry to higher education. It doesn't help the black community; it devalues black students who will never feel accomplished because they didn't achieve it through merit and it's discriminatory against white people (or Asians) that might have achieved those places through merit. What needs to happen is systems in black neighbourhoods, possibly run BY successful black people, to encourage and assist others to value education and be motivated to achieve results. These aren't little children, and well-meaning Liberals need to stop treating them as such.
Yes, human societies are complex. Pointing out one instance is not a strong evidence to support the claim that our society has racism problem, sexism problem, domestic abuse problem etc... If black demographics think there is racism problem in cops then what they needs to do is to encourage young blacks to choose police profession more often, less policing only increases the problem in their community. Faith based community with good education, more policing & free-market can solve most of their community's problem within a few decades.
Discrimination has been illegal since 1964. Since then lawyers have sued for billions at the slightest hint of Discrimination. People like Ryan Grim act like slavery ended yesterday. He blames white people for wanting to live near white people. Every race tends to live near people that look like them it's not racist its natural. Jews tend to live near jews. If systemic racism were true and Blacks as a race are being held back then why are Nigerian Americans (I'd hope you'd classified them as Black) so successful in the USA. In 2018, Nigerian Americans had a median household income of $68,658 - higher than $61,937 for all overall U.S. households. In 2012, Nigerian Americans had a poverty rate of 12.8%, lower than the U.S. national average of 14.9% and lower than the total African American poverty rate of 27.2%. In education, according to Rice University research, Nigerian Americans are the most educated group in the United States. According to the 2008-2012 American Community Survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, 61.4% of Nigerian Americans aged 25 years or older hold a bachelor's degree or higher, compared to 28.5% of the total U.S. population. European Whites are 6th in terms of median household income with Indian, Filipino, Iranian, South African and Lebanese in the first 5 places. If systemic racism is true then how did these other ethnic groups slip through the net? It's all about the Culture of each of these groups, the cultural capital and determination, sacrifice and persistence. None of them play victim, they just get on with the job and look to the future and don't wallow in the past.

As a former loan officer at a major bank I can confirm that your race has zero impact on your rate.

I bet you work for "big mortgage"😄😁 Just kidding
@dboan6847 then why was Wells Fargo successfully sued by the US government for red lining Black people?
I'm black and have excellent credit (FICO score over 780), and anytime I apply for any credit, mortgage or otherwise, I always get the absolute best rate available. It's never even a question. When I was younger and had bad credit, the rates I got were reflected in that. So what in the world is this guy talking about saying blacks with good credit are getting higher mortgage rates?? What "accepted" studies is he referring to because I'd bet my bottom dollar it's a bs lib study meant to portray us blacks as helpless victims.

You're exactly right.
This guy didn't even make a single argument. This is just pure sophistry. Its hard to combat an argument, if the argument isn't even an actual argument.

If you are accepted you choose the mortgage features and go buy the house.
If you cannot point to the racism in the model and it treats all equivalent applicants the same way regardless of skin color, exactly how can you claim racism? This institutional racism thing is just nonsense.
@@dirkbester9050 Yes, but what I'm saying is that is what they do. They take the data about who did and did not receive a mortgage and see that 2.5% less "black" people received a mortgage than any other group (for example). 1. Credit: This assesses a borrower’s credit history and score, indicating their ability to repay debts based on past payment behavior.
2. Capacity: This evaluates a borrower’s income against their debts to determine their ability to repay the loan. It includes factors like employment history and debt-to-income ratio.

4. Capital: This considers the borrower’s assets and savings, indicating their financial stability and ability to cover down payments and reserves.

He’s shooting himself in the foot, unsurprisingly.
thats utter nonsense... you are literally blaming blacks for the bankruptcy... when it was junk housing bulks being sold as AAA.

There could have been any number of logistical reasons why they were being asked to wrap up the segment. Producers probably had a schedule.
Emily is her name, she's very good. She's often on megyn kelly, she has a good sense of humour too, but i imagine sitting alongside Ryan is a bit of a downer.
With Oprah as a billionaire and other black successful people RACISM really exist 😂😂😂

Not sure who was more grim, the host or his sidekick
The side-kick fact checked him multiple times. That's called a moderator in a debate. A person of unbiased view to keep things as legitimate as possible. Of course she's biased but as unbiased as possible.
The discussion was pretty good. I do believe that if an initial set up disadvantage a group then it would be systemic into the future even after any other racist thing by s have been mostly removed.
100% spot on the Roland Martin "yell cause I can't prove a point" or male it up like this fool did.
People who bring up vague statistics to prove their point make me upset
“97% of the experts who agree with me have the same opinion I do- we don’t need any stinkin’ proof.”
I’m white. I’m poor, my parents, grand parents, and great grand parents were poor. This dood came from a white wealthy family so he assumes that all white people did. Ryan’s got that white guilt that’s all.
So true
