    One of the best knives ever especially when supplied with an exotic high end steel and the spring is tensioned for a nice fluid opening snap!

    The Native 5fills your hand more to give a much stronger grip than something like a Delica. The action is good and is single hand open/close if you practice. The swedge along the spine looks cool. FRN is super strong, grippy and durable whilst being lightweight. I wish it had a deep carry wire clip. I hope they bring out an S45VN Native 5 or something like that.

      I'm normally more into bigger knives and I love to fidget. Imagine my surprise after getting my first Native 5 (a LW in SPY27) and finding out I actually prefer it to the Para 3. I next got the S110V in G10 and still not satisfied, I purchased the linerless G10 S30V.

    Late to the party here! But, I agree with having some meat to grab onto the knife when taking out of the pocket vs grabbing a super deep carry clip. Especially when wearing gloves. Great review btw!

    For some weird reason, I've been getting into backlocks these past few days. My favorite knife is my Native Chief. I also have a couple of Native 5s. A G10 S110V and a LW in CPM-SPY27. I even decided to reassemble my Endura 4. Not I'm thinking of getting a Police 4 or another Endura 4 in a different color. Mine has gray scales. I saw one in green and another one in black.

      I started my Spyderco collection with a Manix 2: did not really like the lock. Then PM2: liked that lock better. Eventually a Delica 4: Now that back lock I really like. Then Stretch 2 and Chaparral is on the way. For me, mid mounted back lock or I won't buy it. Why?
      1) Visual aesthetics: symmetrical and no ugly knobs protruding.
      2) Opening: Once broken in, the blade rolls out butter smooth with light, consistent pressure. Stretch 2 will also open with a quick flick of the wrist.
      3) Closing: Once broken in and adjusted, just move thumb back, press, blade falls against finger. Then pinch grip and swipe spine against pant leg. Click. The other locks I've used require pinch grip before releasing the lock. The back lock gives me better control of the knife during the closing operation.

    Curious to know why you do not have the fluted Carbon Native 5 with s90V steel?

    • @ThePocketPerspective

      I have carried one for a bit, but to be honest. It’s more than I want to spend on a Native. I view them more as a working knife and the CF is better utilized on a different platform. I also think it’s way overpriced considering the teal version is half the price.

      @5to522 Год назад +3

      That's literally the name Spyderco gave the knife. It's called Para 3, not PM 3, not paramilitary 3. Other reviewers aren't shortening the name, it's name is Para 3.

    I like your content, but you really need different music... the glitchhop poppy techno really doesn't fit the aesthetic you have going here. Its also a touch loud. I'd argue some like mellow jazz or something.

    Frn scales I don't care for at all and it is a fancy word for plastic. But I have many spydercos. But I'm man enough a little bit of wait doesn't hurt. It's a way for spyderco to market their knife because they're prices are going up and by using plastic they can reduce the cost. Good video. I do own a native 5 love the ergonomics but when I bought it I knew I was just paying for the blade . And I dont really believe spyderco listen to there customers . I messaged them with what myself and people I know thought would be great for spyderco to do and they never would come back and say jump in a lake or thanks nothing yet I messaged other companies and they always got back and said thank you or something. Companies don't know what people want if the customer doesn't let them know. Good video brother 👍

    • @maxtm3000

      FRN is not just a "fancy word for plastic" as there are many different types of plastic with different chemical makeups and strengths/weaknesses... You didn't even use the right word, you literally said "wait" instead of weight... Its not just a way for them to save money in manufacturing, lightweight versions serve multiple purposes... A company not responding to a message about what you (a random person) think they should do is not indicative of them not listening to their customers, they listen to reviews and media that consumers put out as well as designers that have a grasp on what the public want... Basically your comment makes you sound like an uneducated angry caveman.

    Off topic but the Delica needs a new steel at the very least to stay competitive these days.

    I tried out the Native 5 LW and had to send it back. It was in S30v steel even tho the specs and pics on the site said s35vn... but that was not the real issue. It was off center by a large margin from the factory. I mean the blade scraped the FRN on one side which is not good. The lock back feature took real effort to release the blade.. I mean red face crap the pants kind of energy to close this damned knife. In summary I would not recommend anyone to buy this. Also did some background checks about it maybe being a fake version but turns out it was not.

    • @maxtm3000
      @maxtm3000 Год назад +1

      Never had a single issue with any of my native 5's, I have 4 of them... all of them came from the factory centered, proper blade steel was listed when purchasing, lock tension was firm but not ridiculous.... your issue sounds either fabricated entirely, a counterfeit knife, or just a one in a million bad unit from the batch... I would hardly say that gives you grounds to "not recommend anyone buy one".

    • @zedax7122
      @zedax7122 Год назад

      @@maxtm3000 Why would I want a knife so badly that Id pay today's somewhat inflated price and then start to fabricate lies about it? I get that you are a fan since you own 4, but Im not sure it's a quality control problem just for the Native 5 LW. I started poking around the web to see if anyone else had issues with the FRN version of different Spyderco models and sure enough I found enough complaints for it to raise concern. If I was to wager a guess Id say that in the effort of trying to make a much lighter knife that it's G10 counterpart these issues can arise. I own other Spyderco's in G10 version and never had a problem. These G10 versions do often sport things like dual liner's to make them much more rigid but that makes them weigh more aswell. Anyways I voiced my concern to the dealer I got the knife from and got a full refund in the end.

    Be aware that with Spyderco, if you need a 50 cent bushing for your knife pivot, you will have to send your knife back (paying shipping both ways) and pay to have it replaced. They will not simply ship you the part you need. I have a Domino with the paper thin cheap bushing that fails and it will cost me $30 to fix a $1 worth in parts. Their customer service is crap! They never took responsibility for the shit design of the Domino's bearing and bushing.
