After seeing 3.0+1.0, thank you. This is the perfect send off for one of the most influential pieces of media of my life.
I'll be making a 'Farewell to Evangelion' video as a follow up to this (as implied by the end) that'll incorporate imagery from 3.0+1.0. I'm currently riddled with emotion and elated with how the film ended all of Evangelion 💗
I feel like I'm watching "End of Evangelion" again. It's so profound that I need to re-watch this over and over again as tribute to its majesty. This is a better recap for "Evangelion" than "Death and Rebirth". It's so perfect.

It's a true blessing that this song isn't used often in AMVs. That way, it stays reserved for Magnum Opus videos like this. I've been thinking that this song would work extraordinarily well for Violet Evergarden as well. Hopefully I do get around to doing that.

I'd still say this song fits Evangelion best. Violet Evergarden is a period piece, and this song has Daft Punk's futuristic charm (along with lots of string instruments/horn/choir which completely fits the Evangelion aesthetic)

I'm not ready to say goodbye to them both. I've been okay with the final film being delayed repeatedly purely due to the fact that I'd never have to face the end that way.
It killed me...
Those last 45 seconds were literally orgasmic. Holy shit, that cut to silence with the beach scene. "You've almost convinced me I'm real" is too perfect of a lyric for Shinji's breakdown.
Then I need "I need something more," showing him in the rebuilds still griping with depression, and the final more cutting to the symbol for 3.0.+1.0... Jesus Christ this is tight editing.
After watching Epilogue, I’m still not ready to say goodbye to Daft Punk or Evangelion after this last movie

WOW... the ending was timed perfectly! "sweet touch, you've almost convinced me im real" just as Asuka raises her hand and touches Shinji's face, i didn't think the song was a great match at first but god does it go well with it! great job man, keep it up!

The juxtaposition of the words and images at that point broke me.
Evangelion has been around almost 20 years and this AMV proves that it's still the greatest anime out there and thank you for making it 😄😄😄

That is the highest compliment I can possibly receive, as that's the AMV I will forever strive toward meeting. A beautiful, multi-act, emotionally arcing epic of a video, and represents Evangelion perfectly.

I agree that this is on that level. I'm not as big a fan of the Rebuild films as I am of the original series - although I do still enjoy them - but this uses both series perfectly to tell the story of all of the franchise's ups and downs, and it's beautiful.

This song belongs in the EVA universe. This AMV is superb. The changes in the song from contemplative to happy and back reflects EVA perfectly, I feel.

I came here from the Evangelion Complex Tumblr as I am a huge fan of Evangelion in all of its incarnations. Also love AMV's and am a huge fan of Daft Punk, so I saw this and instantly watched it haha. Gotta say it was beautiful and I enjoyed every second; one of the best AMV's I have ever seen. Amazing work! :D

Wow bravo, bravo -claps- you captured what Eva is in just one AMV and with excellent editing. It's not flashy, over-the-top editing, it's the correct style of editing for what you meant to convey. What got to me the most was probably the parallelisms between Rebuild and the original series, between characters themselves (i.e Misato about to push Shinji's head down vs EVA unit 01 about to grab something in the same pose). I absolutely loved your AMV, I've never seen someone use this song before in an AMV, it's actually difficult to pull off, but it fits Eva nicely. I loved the ending, with the lyrics "Touch, sweet touch, you've given me too much to feel...you've almost convinced me I'm real...", that's Shinji's character right there. He's afraid of feeling too much and in change hurting others and/or being hurt by others. You made my day.
In return, your lovely words have made _my_ day. I'm so glad I could touch such an integral nerve that many fans of this series seem to share. Making this was me putting my heart on my sleeve, and not thinking about anything else aside from what this saga does to me, emotionally. The song was the compliment that I never expected, as it debuted on Random Access Memories mere months after I finished watching the series for the first time. They've been intertwined in my mind since my first listen.
There will be a sequel or spiritual successor to this video once the final film comes out in all regions, ending Evangelion once and for all. It will focus primarily on finality, leaving things behind, and letting go - I've got what I feel is the perfect song, and I hope it does even a fraction of what this video seems to've done for you.

This is the greatest song ever made, it has an arrangement of emotions that is meticulously placed together.
Touch is the best daft punk song in a long time, and the themes of evangelion fit incredibly well with it. Splendid work.
Evangelion is an amazing psychology masterpiece. Evangelion in terms of anime is one of the greats.
Love Eva so much and this song is such a fitting AMV in the way it was portrayed. Cant give enough credit to the editing. Always wanted a quality video for such a powerful yet minimalistic song depicting human emotion in abstract psyche, with the connection to person's outside one's self.

Okay lol so it's the 15th of February, we're in 2018 now, and I don't know why but I rewatched this insane AMV and I literally freaked out seeing an older comment of mine, this is kinda awkward. BUT, it has been 7 months now, and guess what? *Still* not a single info about it, not a date, not a teaser, not a synopsis, nothing.

Thanks! I do want to do an HD remaster where I fix some of the technical issues and upgrade the NGE footage to blu-ray quality and make a few minor scene tweaks/rearrangements. I wouldn't include 3.0+1.0 in it just because the ending of this one sort of remains emblematic of a story without an ending, but I am going to be making a direct 'sequel' to this called 'A Farewell to Evangelion' that will have a bunch of 3.0+1.0 footage, so look forward to that! 💗

Also, I particularly liked some of the scenes & panels from the manga in the touch video. I would love to see more of that. I like to think the manga, the show, and the Rebuild films are all parts of a whole, interwoven and connected to each other. So it’s great to see the manga get some representation too, as it was quite different than the anime to an extent.

Thank you! That means a lot. For this AMV, I only used official materials; the scenes you're referring to are from the official Neon Genesis manga. I used them here because they represent a thematic, and dimensional midway point between NGE (the series) and Rebuild.

Yeah it's similar - ultimately derived by the official manga, however. The idea of Asuka retaliating and being the one to strangle Shinji [back] carries through into Rebuild in the redone Unit 01/03 battle, which shows a strong creative and collaborative bind between Sadamoto and Anno.
