Hokuto is more leaned toward durability, Hokuto masters can withstand far more damage such as skyscrapers crashing onto them and boulders smashed into their face, nanto masters can kill a wider range of targets. The ultimate master is one who can master both.
...so hokuto shinken? lmao Hokuto Shinken is just another way to use one's ki and has nothing to do with durability. Hokuto Shinken can copy all Nanto powers immediately after witnessing them. A Hokuto master understands Ki perfectly. Souther was able to literally stop hokuto with his ki and willpower, which shows its about the training and discipline of a harsher more reserved martial art with only one master instead of hundreds.
@@StudioMod You're missing the point; when a Hokuto master (Or Nanto master, doesn't matter which) fully understands their opponent's technique, it doesn't matter what their first discipline was. A Hokuto master who masters Nanto is no different from a Nanto mater who masters Hokuto. They're two sides of the same coin.
@@CoralCopperHead You're wrong on so many levels. For 30 years, Hokuto No Ken has been my favorite anime. Hokuto Shinken is nearly impossible for anyone of Nanto to learn as it's ancient, secretive, and only passed down to one successor every so many decades. Nanto users do not understand the technique and could likely never learn it by witnessing it. Yet, one of the few abilities of Hokuto that they are trained to understand is pure ki control, which means they can use Nanto after witnessing it. The man who masters both Hokuto and Nanto is already a Hokuto user. Kenshiro and Raoh use Nanto Seiken on people constantly. In fact, Raoh's entire arc involved him wiping out Nanto users and being the only one left to harbor their technique. Nanto had many different masters and had huge schools to workshop new masters. Souther was arguably the greatest Nanto user, and he at no point could have EVER learned Hokuto Shinken. It's not something that makes any sense to them. The history of Hokuto itself is kept from them overall and their understanding of it is like that of myth.
@@StudioMod I agree with you about Hokuto being superior to Nanto (in general) and about the former having secrets that a Nanto master could not simply copy. And that is the secret power of Hokuto after all, isn't it? It's desire to be the dominant style, in order to protect the world from all evil, drove it to learn the best techniques and then to keep them secret. Even it's best weapon, the knowledge of pressure points, was taken from another school (Seito Gekken). Nanto Seiken, on the other hand, remains something of a basic concept (the power to slice enemies appart with your bare hands) that never really went beyond that, even though it has 108 variant schools.
@@StudioMod Wasn't Amiba literally a Nanto user that learned Hokuto shinken? He wasn't that good at it compared to the MC and brothers (besides Jagi) but he was good enough to use it offensively.
They are indeed the same voice actor, Toshiyuki Morikawa. Kenshiro's VA, Takaya Kuroda is Kiryu Kazuma from Yakuza tho, I thought he was Jotaro at first.

Ore Wa
Nanto Suicho Ken No Rei
Fist of the Dojima Star vs Holy Killer Queen Star Fist
🔥🔥🔥
Nanto is obviously better
*Hokuto Shinken is a 1800 year old technique. It can't be mastered by a simpleton like you!*
Hokuto is more durable, nanto is more deadly.
