Sure, there's a lot of lesbians and tomboys playing football, but the vast majority of girls won't be into such a sport, they're busy following some K-Pop band or whatever. So if you have a 50:1 or 100:1 ratio of boys vs. girls in football, from an early age, finding a top talent female from that is like one in a million. If most girls never seriously try to play football, their talent can't be discovered even when they possess it.

The reaction time nerf on women is substantial. The keepers take a solid 2-3 seconds in order to move in response to the ball. It's nuts.
I coached under 16 girls team many years ago. It was a nerve damaging experience. The stories I can tell.
