I had to laugh: When you said to Mado, You stuffing your face. Mado gave that classic look. 👌. Thanks for another awesome video. As always. Regards South Africa 🇿🇦.
My perfect beach - Tautuku ❤ and we used to have McLeans falls to ourselves, because it used to take 3hrs to walk there! Glad to see people swimming in it again, though ❤❤
I love New Vealand, i frm Siberia ben her 3 mnth and done he norf isle and am n sth isle greymonth west coast nw , lofely county and is friendishlee pepole❤
I was born and raised in Southland. The Catlins can be windier than Wellington but the sea can also be wild and that's when I like the place! It's remote and wild but awesome at the same time.
I am so glad you are going to Invercargill. I left there in 1966 when it was a town but it has grown much bigger. I hope they still have that southern hospitality we used to show to tourists!
From a 69 year old woman living in the lower North Island, am absolutely loving your videos. I totally understand you Don,t want to pay some of the high prices for the tourist spots. Enjoy the rest of your trip in our beautiful country.
So. I've watched your journey since you have arrived and you both are amazing people. And I know Te Reo can trip you up but as someone that gets corrected all the time with my teachings of German (Ja, ich lerne Deutsch)... the Te Reo vowels are similar to both Deutsch and Irish (ah, eh, ee, oar, ew) so it's pronounced phonetically Poo-rah-co-newee
honesty love you guys its been a blast watch your channel.... CAPTAIN HANGRURY TO CAPTAIN HAPPY CLAP YOUR HANDS TOGETHER HAHA Absolute blast GLENN AND MADO
This was my place as a child, no one else camped there except for us, and 2 other families for years, that was in 1972 ❤ then the surfers found it, the last time i was there it was packed, i felt sad, we caught and cooked our own kai, i know every inch of purakanui bay. Also PURAKANUI means "pile of bones", many maori settlements through the catlins. I love your vid but im the OG of the sacred place 😊
I notice that even on the Catlin's Coast people are telling you to remember your sun cream. It's important to note that no part of the UK is nearer to the equator than ANY part of NZ, including the Catlins. There are no land masses to hinder the "roaring forties" that sends storms racing to the south of NZ, meaning the there is almost always a tempering breeze, but that the atmosphere is swept clean of any pollution, so that the UV factor in NZ is extremely high. The Catlins are about the same latitude south as Nantes in France is in the north, and Auckland and Tunis share almost identical latitudes too. It is just too easy for Brits to think it's pleasantly warm there, when, in fact the suns rays can be quite ferocious. One of the easiest places in the world to get badly burned.
Its not always windy, you probably came in the windy season known as equanox winds we gethem twice a year spring and autumn used to be summer and winter
Great video. But please make sure you check if fires are allowed. As things are starting to get very dry with high winds wild fires are a major risk. Most places now have a total fire ban in place unless you have a special permit.
That $10 chips would though feed a family as a snack. The guy at the 4 square probably has reason to be grumpy, at this time of the yr with freedom campers, but needs to treat every customer as an individual and not blame us all. A few bad apples ruin it for the rest of us if they don't play to the rules.
Yes, they still fly out of Christchurch, which is one of the 5 global gateways to Antarctica, and one of only 2 gateways to the Ross Ice Shelf (an important area for scientific research). The US National Science Foundation’s Antarctic Program also uses Christchurch to fly to McMurdo Station, the Americans largest station on the continent.

Lower Hutt? You’re allowed to name it!...
Yes! More van life cooking! 😋
One of my favorite places in NZ! The Catlins is so underrated
Agreed, and somehow the frequent mobile reception black holes make it seem even better!
half of nz dont even know it exists haha im still finding out these places and im from nz
That waterfall was TV advertisement worthy! Nice nature bath/shower! 😊
What a great video. I didn't realise the Catlins are so beautiful. Thanks guys
Amazing adventure! Such amazing places!
Nice work guys 💯
May the day be long pleasant for yous
You should be able to get drinking water from the small volunteer fire stations in most small towns, they normally have an outside tap to use
Such a great area around the Catlins coast

Awesome guys.
Only the most Southern point of the South Island, as you still have all of Stewart Island (the third large island in NZ) that is south of there.
Great episode guys. Glen you really should know better than to try to get Mado to talk when she's hangry for the hot chips in her hand 🤣🤣🙏🙏👌👌
It’s nice

I think you two are so awesome, i would love to met you s if you come to invercargil
Just watched Nick and Raychel's latest video. They said that they caught up with you guys in Glenorchy
That $10 chips would though feed a family as a snack.

Fred Dagg with a beard and no sense of humour in the coffee shop ?..🤷♂️😂🤦♂️
I'm not sure if they still do but the U.S Air Force flies out of Christchurch to resupply Antarctica.

Sadly all of us Kiwis also have to pay those Tourist Prices!! 😖
You didn't visit Niagara Falls when you were in Waikaka.
We did there was noting there lol
@@GlenAndMadoCome on, it was at least a foot high, it's called Kiwi humour, it was named a lot of years ago.
@@kiwihib 😂😂😂😂 I know haha we went to see it and I seen a little one But never implemented in the video 🫣 we seen the real Niagara Falls though 😉
Be careful mate dont turn your back on a mourie
Do you carry a portable toilet in the car for when you're freedom camping.
😮Oh my life! $17 for the cheapest sandwich!! What is it made of, gold? 🤪 Glad you are enjoying the place though! 😊
Mado just swim in your t-shirt and shorts. Most kiwi girls do this. Just sit on a towel in the car. NB. I'm not a kiwi girl.
Pronouned papa ta wai ( y )
You do know and understand nz have original Maori names not english right? I hope so🤔
$10 for fries. That’s disgraceful. There’s no reason a caravan should charge that much, pure greed.
I guess it's a question of footfall. Corner shops in the UK charge more than supermarkets for that very reason.
That's pretty normal for NZ and Australia
Our country is very expensive sorry you guys didn't have local friends to help out?
👍
