I wouldn't claim to be amazing or anything - but back in the original the Son of Osiris was incredibly powerful, definitely my favorite unit/god power. The chain lightning attack could be monumental in eliminating myth units in a big brawl + you got a pseudo extra pharoah. Main issue was he was such a magnet for fire, so you had to screen him and keep him out of trouble carefully because once he was gone he was gone... but the changes to the god powers meaning you can bring him back help address that one issue!
Never got into RTS's personally, but lately I find your vids on Warcraft 3 and such super interesting and entertaining. Shows how much of a difference a good 'commentator' makes 😅. Love your vids, keep up the good work ❤
I'm not really a competitive player myself, but I've been watching some other content creators play and cast games so take this with a grain of salt. Mythic age pick for Ra will be Osiris most of the time, but Horus is nice to have in your pocket as a counter pick. The spearman upgrades turn your spearmen into cavalry killing machines which is useful to have when you are facing down an opponent that is going very hard into cavalry. For example another Egyptian going heavy into elephants, Atlantean going heavy into contarius, or Poseidon cavalry. Tornado is also useful if breaking a position can close out a game right away.
Good farm boom I enjoyed that, Ptah works so well with Ra. I think Sekhmet is a more natural progression for him though, you already get ranged mythic units from Ptah, seems a bit redundant. With Sekhmet you can push out with the tank/anti building scarabs and take an aggressive expansion. From there you can build all the units Ra already buffs (elephants, chariots). The upgrades you get are also for your siege and chariots which is useful since you are more of a turtle and the enemy will have a lot of map control. I get that you love the laser crocs though :D they are awesome and they pack a punch. I think they work better with Isis though. You can be more aggressive and you can play with Bast. The Sphinx can protect your Crocs and with the Eclipse ability you can increase their damage even more for those game winning fights.
Insane nostalgia for this game, used to spend hours just making maps in the scenario editor. I'll probably be able to recite all the unit barks until the day I die 😆
Have you tried a Northmen Berserker Rush with Loki? You need almost nothing but Food, spam Workers, convert them into Berserker for free. With Loki you have a random Chance to summon Mythic Units when you fight, and you also get Faith when Berserker die
I enjoy your content based on how skilled you are at the game, less dependent on what game is being played. Therefore, im very happy that you seem to have improved really quickly with egypt!! Congrats.
I'm not sure if they changed this but if you get the two kingdoms upgrade (2 Pharoahs) then use the son of Osiris you will end up with 3 Pharoahs. Also trade! Place you market as far away as possible then send them to a town center and get a constant gold
Just a quick FYI, for me at least, I found the unit selection voices kinda talk over your voice a little, making it awkward to hear you clearly. Thank you for the great content as always though :)
Age of Mythology was the first strategy game I ever played, it had a profound impact on what I enjoy today in gaming. So great to see it have its time in the sun again! Love the content as always. Also also, Make sure you are empowering your drop offs when you use rain, it great increases the amount you collect.
You've gotten so much better in a really short while. Love seeing you starting to fend off early aggro and no longer leaving idle vills. Next improvment is leaving your pharaoh to empower - he's not that useful in a fight but he can really let you boom. Also as Ra - give your gold workers a priest after your first gold. Extra gold alway helps
Always fun to watch you play, however it really frustrates the shit out of me when you are so hesitant to create more units in early game, you tend to get stomped alot during early game due to your reluctance in making a fighting force.
Laser crocs are always rad and probably the better myth unit for that age if you want to kill enemy troops, the Scarab is a very cool siege piece though and Sekhmet does have some neat tech upgrades for your ranged units like slingers and chariots. The citadel power is also pretty rad if you want a more defensive style of play. But against this more agressive playstyle of the opponent, having the crocs to clear out his army faster is probably the right choice in my opinion.
Man I feel like a can always write paragraph long responses to why pick X god in AOM. MY TLDR though is that Osiris is the meta pick. Double pharaoh is really strong and mummy's are a really valuable supporting myth unit, so solid reliable power even if son of osiris gets sniped (he is powerful too of course). Tornado is an absolute game ender sometimes though, and Horus+ptah spears are the pinnacle of egypt infantry, Horus infantry spam can be surprisingly fun and effective. Sekmet sniper chariots can be really fun too if you ever try her out!
I am enjoying playing the refreshed AOM also. You have improved a lot in the last couple weeks. I think strategically I would have gone for Lazor Crocs also. Because a Norse opponent will likely use infantry and have very few ranged units that can deal with the Crocs. Keep up the good work!
Kronos + Oranos Oracles do not appear as idle military or idle economic units, as even when they are idle, they generate favor. ==== you dont send them out to die you want them to generate favor.==== check your tower range and place them at the edge and buy military units from favour ==== Up your towers to protect them you can have 10 Oracles === Safe Passage:
Age of Mythology might feel a little bit more intense at first when learning about the different gods, myth units and God Powers. Once you get the hang of it, I think it's one of the best RTS games out there. If you like campaigns this is almost a must buy, AoM has one of the best campaigns ever. Playing the campaign also introduces all factions, without feeling like a tutorial after the two first missions. I haven't played any multiplayer yet, only skirmished vs AI. That has been fun, and the multiplayer scene seems pretty active right now! PS. The games in AoM: Retold is usually a bit faster and more aggressive than AoE2, not sure if that matters DS.
in my opinion yes, the mythological creautres and god powers give the game a bit more asymetry and thus makes it a bit more interesting imo... additionally if you are into single player campaign AoM has one of the best RTS campaigns ever made and the only thing Rotld changed about is is the voice actors ( atleast thats what they did with the german dub so i assume they also rerecord the voice stuff with new actors in english)
One thing I notice Turin neglects quite a bit are the economy upgrades. Especially for a faction like Egypt that relies on a single resource so heavily (in this case gold) maximizing your gold income with those upgrades is very important. With a build like this one, Turin already knows he's going to be leaning very heavily into both farming and gold mining, so it makes a lot of sense to invest in upgrades for both in a timely manner. The other thing that he could do with this build is utilize camel caravan trading in the later portions of the game, since the camel caravans mostly cost food you can afford to get them to supplement your gold income from mining.
HES DOING IT, HE IS PLAYING AGE OF MYTHOLOGY!
Love you Turin, you are the fucking man

I think you might want to turn down the villager's audio for the next one, it's like being inside the head of a schizophrenic on this one.
Will do!
@@turinRTS agreed but I do appreciate you keeping the music audible! it's one of my favorite game soundtracks, so much nostalgia
Thank you I was wondering how best to put it
All my homies love GER EG
Laser Crocs were always my favorite unit in the original. Seeing them again brings a tear to my eyes.
cool game but there's a correction in 24:24, you can only convert a town center into a citadel. you can't convert strongholds into citadels.

Turin gets down with Prostagma like no other.

You've taken up AoM Retold! Glorious! Hope it becomes a regular part of your content. :D

In the old game, tornado was an ability better suited at damaging buildings, which kinda useful but osiris son is everyone's favourite
Crocodilopolis was actually a real place. The Greek name for the Egyptian city Faiyum which was the cult center for Sobek.
Always fun to watch you play, however it really frustrates the shit out of me when you are so hesitant to create more units in early game, you tend to get stomped alot during early game due to your reluctance in making a fighting force.
oh man, the roc hate feels bad, it used to be pretty op in the og game but love to see you playing the game

Great video! It took me back to my childhood!

Bro I remember the laser crocodile spam, it was so obnoxious lol
Just starting playing myself yesterday! Nostalgia city over here
LAZOR CROCS!
As reminder that Locust Swarm is to destroy villagers and farms, not soldiers.
sweet, AoM replays. I was hoping for this
Do you recommend AoM? I remember playing it when I was a kid, but not competatively
love the game but how is it an rts can come out in 2024 without unit audio buffering, started giving me a headache
I loved the purple ( and green ) ketchup as a kid.
These voice lines would drive me absolutely insane lmao
You should try a Hades tower rush. How big is the no build area around an enemy TC, or is there one?
Yes! Love watching you play AoM! Still, would love to see you cast some games, also, since your commentary skills are unmatched!
Egyptian is my favourite race by far
GG, the laser crocs are too mighty!
KRONOS Hekate can heal titans
you should do a lets play of the campaigns, it'd be fun to see your reaction to it
loving the content tho
Thank you Turin after this video i got my first win in ranked
We need more laser crocs.
Loving retold
Poor roc 😢
Turin cooked that bird
LASOR CROCS letsgoooo. Love AOM because it's just a more silly AOE
⚔️
Can't hear you well over the sounds of units. Please reduce in game sounds of units.
Will do!
The pharaoh not empowering is triggering me.
lol i could barely hear him over the voicelines at the start
Will fix next time!
The voice lines are so loud, holy
Age of Mythology: Retold worth picking up? Dumped countless hours into AoE2 but never touched Mythology
I'm having a blast with it anyway. It feels like AoE2 on crack. God powers and myth units just make it such a fun fiesta.

Mind turning down the in game dialogue just a little bit? It’s kinda hard to hear you at times
That big annoying useless bird sure sounds like Sweet Dee Reynolds
hahaha
Just my 2 cents, the constant voice line babbling while you are talking is super annoying.
Agreed will fix.
