Workshop Description: This workshop presents the transformative impact of a nurse-led holistic wellness pilot program, initiated by the non-profit organization Her Story, aimed at aiding women in the early stages of their recovery journey from substance use disorders. Focused on homeless women with dual diagnoses and significant economic challenges, the program addresses barriers faced during the critical contemplative phase of recovery. The initiative pioneers a multi-faceted approach integrating evidence-based practices, medication education, purposeful healthcare connections, and community collaboration.
During the session, attendees will gain insights into the program’s innovative strategies and holistic interventions, emphasizing the pivotal role of registered nurses in early addiction recovery. The session will explore the challenges faced and successes achieved, sharing compelling data from the multi-county region in Ohio, a state severely affected by the opioid crisis.
