You think about how much effort and work this man put into everything, just to have everyone look down on him when hes struggling rather then respect him and wish him well

The fight business seems sometimes extra ruthless. It was such a stacked division back then.

My buddy used to mispronounce it as “Gar-brond” because he was so flashy. His performance against Cruz was nuts. As far as the concussion, I hope to god if you break it you can fix it.

The fight against Dom is one of the best fights I’ve ever seen. Watched it at a party and people couldn’t believe the dominance that Cody showed.

@ Watched it with my brother. I actually worked up a sweat a few times where Dom and his brother (also a bad ass) trained. Huge fan of Dom even his commentary, but he got his ass whipped and he’s man enough to admit. Just a great performance.

It was quite shocking and pretty sad to watch how quickly he started to drop off after the Dominic Cruz fight, that fight was one of my favourites that year. He did have a few good wins here and there but after the run he went on to get the belt, it's got to be one of the quickest rise then falls in the ufc. I think the way he stood and traded always trying to load up and rely too much on that knockout punch left him vulnerable to the inevitable knockouts that came anf he never took the time to properly recoup from those ended up leaving him too easy for other highly ranked guys to finish. Like I said though his run to the title is still a fun one to watch.

MMA is just bizarre like that. Guys can be on top of the world for the longest time, and then fall off a cliff in the blink of an eye and never be the same again.

Cody's natural talent, and athleticism couldn't make up for his absolute lack of fight IQ.

    • @STRmw2
      @STRmw2 День назад

well, he showed the IQ and restraint in the fight with dom. he just sees red and can't control himself and getting KO'd twice by a PED cheat can do that to you...

Basically he wasn't willing to adjust his fighting style the way he fought Cruz was like perfect he could have had at least 5 title defenses but he gets easily suckered into brawls! I call him the bantamweight Justin Gaethje difference is Justin actually made adjustments and the results helped him a lot this dude is too far gone at this point been KOd too many times

I dont get the hate on Cody. He is fun as hell to watch, he was the undisputed champ and won in one of the most spectacular fashions ever. And he is cringey at press conferences. He rules. He is just older now. Who cares. He had one of the best careers in the organization relative to everyone who has fought for UFC

Cody was overrated and over hyped.
    He fought cans.
    48 47 a gimpy Cruz.
If Cruz is healthy, Cody loses and maybe Cody works on his skillset besides his average boxing skills.
Instead Cody fights a monster like TJ and gets exposed.
The excuse that Cody got KOd early on is pathetic.
    Fighters get rocked sparring!!!
Cody had terrible defense. And a medicore fight I.Q.
    Period

First off, theres nothing thats going to reverse CTE or brain damage. I don't think Joe understands how complex the human brain is and how we still know very little about it and how every human being is unique.

It was actually the opposite. He had a massive overtraining problem and it lead to massive breakdowns in his ability to recover but he just kept training.
