I completely agree with Jake, I'm a newer DJ and I prefer static jogs such as the ones on the DDJ SZ and CDJ's. Pioneer has been scaling down their controllers year after year. this does fill a gap for me as it is a full size controller. It doesn't feel cramped, the 1000 SRT does have full size jog wheels but the rest of the controller is cramped which is why the loop section sucks. The stem split and the use of channel 3/4 is very innovative. There is no full size controller with paddles for effects, this is another plus. Overall solid controller well done rane.
Thanks so much for sharing. It seems like people really like this controller and it seems like its built SUPER solid. We're getting one in next week so I'll keep you updated with a follow up video on some of the features.
This is def the controller I want to upgrade to.
Thanks Lenny, this would be a solid choice. Plus the dedicated stems buttons make this a game changer!
'
Same here. 2023 I’m all in on the Rane 4.
I'm from the world of Turntables- I have yet to find moving platters that feel like real turntables. Therefore I personally prefer CDJ or static jogs on controller.
Thank you for sharing! Many feel the same and although moving platters are great there are many that have used CDJ's for years. The cool thing about this unit is the build quality is really solid. What controller do you currently use?
@@TweakMusicTips For home use S11 & Technics 1200s or PL1000s. For mobile events I'm currently using the Prime4 (love it) - previously had the Rev7 (sold it - didn't like the jogs), Rane One (sold it - kool but no on-board effects) DDJ-1000srt (sold it when the Rev7 came out -big mistake), ddj-800, SR2, SZ2, sb2, Rev1(my current backup).
Rane 12 MKII
This review is doing it's job. I want to try/buy this!
Rane Two will be the natural successor to the Rane One by the sounds of it; having Stems integration, motorised platters and I'm guessing a pretty hefty $2000+ price tag to boot!
Yeah, sometimes it is good to wait. Don't have to always be first in line.
Rane performer has made your wish come true.
Cracking bit of kit. I've got the Four and it's perfect for me but the Performer will make a turntablist very happy.
Hats off to the Rane team for finally convincing me to upgrade my OG DDJ-SX for mobile gigs. I tried so hard to design a mobile rane 70 setup but need to be quick with setup/teardown. The on board fx, solid build quality/audio quality, and finally a flagship controller that offers useful new features got me. As fun as moving platters are, I would likely choose static for long term reliability and the weight savings anyways
I like static platters too, I want this machine
Thanks for the detailed response Brian. We think this unit will be a heavy hitter for those who like the static plates, on board effects and Serato stems integration.
I love that it splits the vocals and music
I love these reviews, I learn so much! Love everything you do on twitch!
One of the best shows!! 2 dj gear experts
Couldn't agree more! Thanks so much for always supporting Diamond Lee! Salute to you and the crew! 🫡
🔥 thanks for stopping by my stream 🙏🏼🙌🏼
Hilarious how they cut to the Christmas outfits in end 🤣🤣🤣
u can saperate vocals/acapella in serato pro software on the top left & right.i like sz and sx3
No motorized platters a step backwards.
Rane performer is here. No more criticism and complaints. Congratulations Rane.
Thx for the review
This is a beast
If you want to use control vinyl you still have to bowl a few hundred quid on top of this for seratos dj dvs tax
Like the outfits
Great Review!! Really good information here --
virtual dj is doing this for over a year with my pioneer ddj sx3 and virtual dj i cant separate the stems with mid , high or low button or just change your pads to stems effect
Will the effects that are currently on the 72 MK2 be updated to the same amount as the new rane4 with a firmware update? Would be cool it were possible.
Nice work!
fx are amazing
how well would a pair of SC5000M perform as external decks, paired with the four, will the SC5000M fully function?
I get why they made static platter ...its ok I still like the unit ..ill just wait for a stand alone mixer
Why Didn't Y'all Make it with the ability to add the Rane twelves by having USB ports???? Also, why no AUX channel??
Mojaxx and Cleavland Terry are personally responsible for the depletion of my bank account on new gear!
I think the downfall with serato is you have to make more space on your hard drive to hold your stems. So what's the difference with me creating all my stems with rip x then adding them to a folder on my hard drive. I could still bring everything up in real time. Now they have other software that's out there that these things can happen right on the fly. So for me I will wait and see what else they come up with. I'm not going to buy a unit right away and today sort out all the Bugs.
You don’t need to save your stems files if you have a fast processor and just trigger in on fly. There’s an option on the settings to analyze stems on load.
I’m really liking this controller. I’m currently using a 100srt. Just wondering where this will as far as price 🤔
Nice
Thanks, what controller or setup do. you currently use? What features stand out to you on this?
The only thing im mad about is that ik they will eventually bring back the moving platter along with incorporating stems but I now have to wait😭😭. Ik as soon as I buy it they will announce the next project
I see the channel and fader panel plate is screwed down. Obviously for maintenance but any thoughts for rotary replacements?
nice review!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much we appreciate you! 🙏🏽
❤❤❤❤
Is amazon music compatible with serato ?
How is the control vinyl communicating with the laptop? Doesn't it need an interface?
So I’m when is this out for sale? A site said it was released Dec. 2022 but I’m not finding it. Going to get the Rane one if this one isn’t out yet. Let me know
From what we're told it should be in stock early 2023 and some distributors informed us that they're expecting them in as early as January.
im good with my rane one, i cant move away from moving platters. i have two technic 12s set up in crib and rane sits by the door for my saturday nite residency and other mobile gigs but FYI.....the patrons yall dj for could care less what you playing on, if you could hook up two walkmans with a mixer they wouldnt give two F's as long as they can hear their "fave' songs. Djs buy new gear to impress other djs
hi this is a message for Jake Hill, i was looking into buying the rane 4 , i think its a really nice unit and i like its based around serato, but ive now gone off the rane four due the take over from pioneer, thing is the rane four is designed to work with serato, who knows what's going to happen now, but its really put me off the rane 4.
Those stemz work with any song?
If Denon integrates stems into its software, game over! I’m just saying.
Waiting for a DDJ SZ3 to come out. I don't need stems.
I would like to know if delay fx is also on the rane one
I have the Rane Four so my channel 2 when I turn the volume up its echo really bad can anyone help me
Can you 4 deck mix using dvs thru channel 3 and 4 ?
I hope pioneer upgrade the 1000srt to compete with this hopefully namm so im waiting
Do you think a 2019 MacBook Pro with 16 gigs of ram and 1 terabyte of memory would work?
is the new Range One Shirado Or is it wrecker Box.
Maybe it’s just me but the jog display looks so cheap looking. Rev 7 wins that category hands down.
When its going to be available?
Looks like early 2023 and w'e're super excited to try this out.
Serato has to do something.
RTX 3080 CAN RUN IT WITH NO SWEAT FOR THE STEMS
I think the fact that the stems can not work with any computer will slow this controller down.
@mojaxx haha no stems in engine os
Huge question that I don't see answered anywhere. The Rane One crossfader curve is software controlled and it's a huge fail that nobody talks about in detail the way they should. It claims to have a sharp curve cut, but it actually is full of latency and doesn't sound anywhere near as good as a hardware controlled crossfader curve. Even extremely cheap controllers sound way better when it comes to crossfader curve sharpness vs the Rane One. So, is the Rane Four crossfader software controlled or hardware controlled? If you could answer this that would be a huge help. On a side note, if you could take some time to examine and bring attention to the poor performance of the crossfader in the Rane One it would be a great service to the DJ community. Why on earth would any controller exist and not have the ability to have a standard working sharp fader curve? Why brag about a Mag 4 when the curve cut performance is inherently poor. Any help here would be greatly appreciated
So moving platters is “very hip hop DJ”? Really?
Why chosing Serato in the Virtual DJ STEMS Era? Stems of Virtual DJ are much better than this bad quality acapellas. In Virtual DJ you can split kick and hi hat to.
INMUSIC, PLEASE!! STOP SOLDERING ON THE UPFADERS!!! YOU SHOULD LEARN FROM THE NS7! YOU CAN EVEN MARKET AS “REPLACEABLE CHANNEL FADERS”. HORRIBLE TO CHEAP OUT ON A CRITICAL COMPONENT!!!!!!
