I am trying to swap my dishes and glassware and store them in container to store in garage. This is definitely a better solution. I have some used kitchen towels, will use them as cushion. Thank You!!
In the industry, we call it "Newsprint". Alternatively you can use bubble wrap or you can use towels and sheets, but you might have to wash them once done.
Yes absolutely. It is free and it does the same thing. The only difference is, sometimes the ink from the newspaper will leave marks on the items being packed. If this happens, you just have to run the dishwasher on them.

Does it matter how you lay down cups? On their side or open side down?
The safer way is standing up. This is true with cups, plates, and similar items.
