I've often struggled with this part of framing because most foremen and lead carpenters I've worked with don't like to nor want to teach folks, probably because they like feeling like they're superior or have something over the other guys, kinda giving them a ball and chain so they can't ask for more money or run off to someone who will pay them more. Thanks for being a humble teacher. Guys like you help me remember why I love doing this for a living.
Keep at it and learn as much as you can, even if it's outside of work. Your knowledge of what you're doing is going to take you farther than breaking your back just doing 👍
RUclips needed you badly dude. The post frame genre seems to be the hot topic over here but this is real world every day experience. Blue collar GSD style🤘. Happy you made the move and started this channel brother. It was much needed for the youngsters wanting to learn🙌
You know I appreciate the hell out of you here and over there! Can't wait to progress and start making some more polished videos as I relearn making long form videos. Not as easy as slapping together a couple of timelapses and hitting it with a trending audio, haha
Kickass. Thank you for taking the time to make this. Layout is just about the only thing that comes back to bite me if I don’t spend enough time to get it really dialed in like you did. Your tips for 1 man stuff help me out. There’s always a way to do it 1 man!
Dude. Ive been doing this for 20+ years, have been operating my own business 7, and have never seen that! Ingenious method! I will be doing this from now on, thank you for sharing it
Impressive watching you do this by yourself! I am certain to you that all the small details you provide seem like common sense but to others not as knowledgable they are gold! Keep them coming. Your insights are much appreciated.
Excellent work Brother, I too am a one-man Crew. Great to see another out here sharing their tips. Always looking for that little thing I haven't thought of to make the job easier. One question i do have if you see this, Do you get that audience stopping by to watch the one-man show. Happens more than I would like.
Hell yeah man 🤘🤘 I too get the folks stopping by. Half of them to tell me I'm crazy, the other half to give my dog Morty some loving. Then quite a few to say what's up because they saw my videos on IG 😎
On the front wall line; I parallel all the the way across the garage, snap that, it helps keep all the parallel lines (even the front garage wall in perfect parallel since there referencing back to front and then forward or back from the front line
I've contemplated it for sure, and it definitely would help in a few areas. I've hounded Stabila to see if they're planning on coming out with a green laser version though. All I get are vague answers, And I know the second I dropped 2K on one they're going to come out with a green version and I'm going to be sad 🤣
When installing the sill do you ever overhang the sill a bit or always just go flush? I have heard different opinions ranging from flush to 1/4 inch overhang. I understand if the foundation is out of square a small amount you may have some overhang or even have the sill inset a small amount. Thoughts?
For the most part, I usually go 20' - 25' depending on the back wall depending on the window well location. Really should have just used the snapped line on the front wall for my rise. So with it being 40' and set back 3.5" on front and back my rise would have been 39' 5". Had a lot on my mind and done goofed, haha.

Same with cutting roofs in….The boss’ logic was once you know how to cut a roof in, you’ll leave to start your own crew.
This channel will have 100k subs by the end of the year.
👌👌👌👌👌👌🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I used your clamp method for squaring and pulling all my measurements, super ingenuity thanks man! it's hard to have help when u need it !
I was thinking for Christmas you could do another video, all the kiddos would be so pleased. You are the man, hope you are well
This is the uncle who brings the kids into construction. They worked and loved it. (Rather than partying) It’s so cool to be able to look you up!
As a first year apprentice this video taught me more than my foreman ever taught me about squaring up

Great lunch break video. Framing in minnesota today. Snapping some lines after I finish detailing the roof returns.

Wow you have a lot of faith in form guys. I don’t get not pulling a big square before you start snapping everything
Now I want one of those brushes!
Definitely come in hand for everyting from snow, dirt, water, and especially mud

I’d definitely buy the “Big Hook” if you ever start re-printing them. Badass video 👍
Very helpful video. I finally got how to square it when you did the right triangle. Ive been struggling with that.
I want that chalkline hook!
Know all about plumb, worked Construction for over 40yrs., would have loved to work like this.
Definitely has its perks that's for sure 👍

Добрый день, камрад. Фундамент крутой у тебя, молодец. Работаем. Долой уныние
How about tying the snap line to a hook on the end of the clamp
I just learned a couple of hacks ✌🏻thanks to
Not hacks, "Theorems" of Geometry . Welcome to the club.
Oman if we only had that much land in the uk 😢 I’m loving what I’ve just seen, I’ve subscribed thanks
Appreciate it!
Amazing! Learned a lot here man. How would one get a hold of your 3d printed tools brotha?
Have you contemplated the Stabila layout station? Seems expensive, but would definitely speed up a one man operation.
Not saying you're slow by any means. Just wanted to know your thoughts on it.

It's all in the details

I bought my lucky dog ❤
Hello, what part of the country are you in? 🤘😉🇺🇸
Eastern Idaho
That big hook would be perfect if there was a way to just attach your regular hook onto it
👍📐🔨just subscribed ✌🖐
Thanks for the sub!
Without reference drawing I couldn’t follow his jargon.
🤯
did you just pick a random run and rise
For the most part, I usually go 20' - 25' depending on the back wall depending on the window well location. Really should have just used the snapped line on the front wall for my rise. From the little I know, you can pick any rise and run. 3-4-5 method allows you to do that and a framing calculator takes out most of the work for you.
Awesome!
