Pageblug means Pandemic in Javanese. This term dated back to around 1910-1920 when the pes/sampar pandemic running ramparts throughout Java island with the death toll are quite high. Last year, Alip release a single named Pandemi (pandemic). Back then, the vibe was to tell us to be positive about how we going through Covid-19. This time around, this same pandemic, especially carried by delta variant, resulting in an increasing number of fatalities, in saddening ways. I think that's why this time, he releases a single still about the pandemic, but the one which has the sad vibe. And no word perfectly represents this situation other than Pageblug. The people back then though, are considering Pageblug as a myth, where it is considered as a deathbringer. Old people believe that on the night, whoever the Pageblug came to, it will strangled him/her to death. This is because a lot of people died on their sleep throughout the pandemic and medical knowledge are so limited to explain the issue. At time like that, most people will turn to an unexplainable myth.
