Red Ass Soft Hackle Fly

Tying the Red Tail soft hackle fly. This fly can be fished unweighted by stripping in or just under the surface film like an emerger, or with weight*, it can be fished under an indicator.
Material list:
Nymph hook, standard or 1x long in size 14-18
Red thread in 70 denier
Peacock herl - 2 strands
Partridge feather sized for hook (hen saddle will also work)
Head cement of your choice
*A heavier version of this pattern can be tied by forming the rear half of the body by making touching wraps small red ultra wire from the rear to the mid-point of the body. From there, tie as shown in the video.
