For an extra £20 I would rather get something like the excellent Signatory 10 year old Caol Ila 57.1% ABV. Higher strength so you can play around with water which adds value. Still have half a bottle of the Select gifted to me about 5 or 6 years ago and found it watery, thin and flat. A bottle I will gladly share when guests come around but not one I will drink myself. All subjective of course and thanks for the list 🥃
Yeah that’s fair! I’d love to try that bottle one day. I must admit with this video I tried to keep their prices within the £20-30 range which is getting harder and harder to do with the increase in prices. I have a top 5 islay video coming soon where price doesn’t matter and I’m sure you’ll like some of them on that list! 🥃
I got my Ardbeg 5 for 35€ in Germany. Here it's 52-65€ nonsense price. Islay is usually overpriced here. Bunna stiurad 47€. Lagavulin 8 is 80€. Laphroaig 10 - 50-55€. Select was 38€ than I bought mine. I think 10 is way better. Thanks for the video 📸 hope I can get more Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Bunna on vocation 😅
I hope you do too! Take an extra suitcase 😄 I see, that is a bit of a pain, the select in the UK is one of the cheapest whiskies available so that’s why I like it. If it was similar price to the 10 I would always go 10 too so do take my list videos with price with a pinch of salt because it always changes depending on the market you are in. What country are you in at the moment?
Wee Beastie hater here: I would gladly spend ~8EUR for the TEN instead of this hot PoS :D. In case of Laphroaig it it Quarter Cask all the way for me. Never had any Bowmore. Of the Bunna range only Cask Strength. Keep up the good work.
Fair enough! Oh me too, I love the quarter cask, one of my favourites. I have a top 5 islay video I’m finishing editing that will come out soon where price doesn’t matter so you’ll probably prefer that video. With this one I just really tried to keep the whiskies in the £20’s price range which is getting harder and harder to do each year with the increasing prices 🥲 thank you 🙏
Quite a few country's are lucky to have different price on the same whisky, whisky on sale😂. Here in Sweden that never happens, always fixed prices. 🍷cheers
I believe so! I feel for you I really do although if you try to find a positive, I guess you can save time not constantly monitoring the market and looking for sales because it’s the same price always which makes it easier although more expensive
@WhiskyWars It has always been like this in Sweden, the state has monopoly on selling alcohol above 3,5%abv. But on the other hand, I can order from a list with around 1800 different whisky, and get them delivered, without any fee, to my nearest liquor store (Systembolaget), and that's only 5 minutes from home🌞👍
Yeah buddy! Great list. We’ve got it backwards over here in the U.S. The Select Laphroaig is $ 10/ $ 15 more than the 10 year….and I’d say the 10 year has way more flavor 😉. Cheers !
Cheers man, great to hear from you again. That’s crazy! 10 year all day at the same price but 15 bucks cheaper it’s mind blowing that stores have priced it at that. especially yours is at 43% right?! We’re over here at 40 unfortunately
@ yep…a glorious 43 % ! It’s because you Brits can’t handle the heat 😉 ( actually I’m half British….got tons of family over there 😂) One of my favourite Laphroaigs is the Sherry 10, that’s at 48 % ABV, and not a bad price too…
Laphroaig select was my very first taste from the distillery just a few months ago, it has inspired me to shop for a next step like the quarter cask. The Buna Stiuireadair I think is great at its price point. Tried the Beastie a couple of times, will probably not return to it. The Ardbeg 10 is not that much more $ and is quite a bit nicer. I will probably not return to any lower end Bowmores like this one or the 12.
I love the quarter cask! A lot woodier with a big ABV jump so it will feel far more intense but it’s worth the extra £ for sure 👌 I think you should go for it!
It was just done in price order 🙂 no.1 was the cheapest. Wee beastie is the best by a mile but I know a lot of people who won’t want to spend over £30 on a bottle so I was trying to find bottles in the 20’s which in todays market is actually quite difficult to do which is a shame
@pierreluna1654 no you’re right Pierre. I didn’t mention it which is my fault. I do have a habit of doing that. I also say “second is… “ when I just mean the second bottle I’m going to talk about so I need to learn to be much clearer 😅

@JPirate123 😂😂😂
Great list!
Thanks! I tried to keep the price below £30 as much as possible but it’s harder than I thought in todays market

Strange ranking Ash !
Bowmore N°1 better than wee beastie ?
But if you dont take into account the price, which should be your choice ?

@@WhiskyWars My fault. I didn't understand.
Great choice anyway !

@@WhiskyWars Ok ! 😄
I like Peat, but I don't like that medicinal note in Laphroaig.
That’s fair enough! I’d probably say the wee beastie would be the best for you out of the 4 here then 🙂 I love the wee beastie
Not everbody has a cash and carry card to get those prices.
I don’t either
