The video helped me to repair the no black ink problem for my hp 3520 inkjet printer. The wet paper towel cleaning did not work, but disassembling and soaking in warm/hot water the cartridge carrier worked perfectly. I only want to add a subtle point not mentioned explicitly in the video that gave me problems the first time. When assembling and placing the cleaned cartridge carrier back, be VERY careful to have a narrow transparent tape along which the carrier moves, through a very difficult to see slit at the back of the carrier. The tape has the tendency to be underneath the slit, so you must easily force it with your finger to go through the slit.
Thank you so much for this video! My printer was not used for 5 years or so and after disassembling the print head and cleaning, it does print again! I was cleaning not only with water, but also soaked the print head in the solution for cleaning print heads.
very good tuto to fix this kind of issue. I've used thin plastic gloves and followed your video. After 2 hours : done ! printer is now printing again :) I've just encountered a little pb with the long thin transparent headband in plastic which goes thru the printer head. I did not noticed it at my frist try. This is probably some kind of guide for the printer head which needs attention. Thanks so much for sharing this video on the net. it Saved me a 100euros printer :)
It also worked for the printer: HP Deskjet 3070A e-All-in-One! Thank you so much, you were my salvation, otherwise I would have to buy a new one and throw away my current one !!
@@gudvooy2 I don't know why but as soon as I used the "clean head" option it completely dried all the black color again :( do you have any advice for me?
@@igroig9736 It just happened that the capacity of your ink was its lowest when you did the head cleaning. Everytime you do the head cleaning the ink will drain out 3%-5%.
Try repeating the process. Soak the printhead much longer. Try replacing your cartridge, maybe it was clogged. And if the symptom persist, you have to buy a new one.
Haha spot on and thanks. 🙏 Had initial problem of not recognizing cartridge. I'm sure hp don't like copy cartridges..however after giggery pokery it's working great now. This job is a little fiddly. Ie, found getting the ribbons back on cartridge head assembly. Recommended taking your time, it sure is worth doing this fix if like me printer was inactive for a very long time.
Thank you so much for sharing this!! Home schooling ground to a halt and i couldn't print off a return label for Amazon. I even looked at buying a new printer but nothing available locally due to lockdown After watching this everything is back up and running, I'm so pleased :-)
OK, for anybody else who is having problems with screws that are not regular Phillips screwheads at 0:15 seconds in - I bought this same printer in Australia and could not open the printer due to the weird 6-sided screwheads. I just found out that the screws they used here in Australia are a Torx screwhead which require a T10 screwdriver.
Thanks for this video, however it did not solve the problem with my black ink. I tried first with water, and then with isopropyl alcohol. Both times i could see CMY inks flowing through the print head. Black particles were visible in liquid after washing, but no black ink was sleeping through the head as with the colours. I'd say the black print head is busted somehow. There is absolutely zero sign of black ink printing. The colours are working very well now.
Thank you so much for uploading this instructional video. Would like to ask what screwdriver you used to open the printer (and where you bought it), as well as if you accept repair requests for HP 3525 printers like this? =)
I used water the first 2 times and sprayed it in with a syringe and the black ink would still not print. A LOT of ink came out when I soaked and sprayed it. I was super disappointed it didn't work. (I thought I broke it when the carriage jammed and went haywire but got that straightened out when I read the comments on how to fix...I had the ribbon threaded in the wrong place) I read in the comments that someone tried using RUBBING ALCOHOL (isopropyl alcohol- I only had 70%) so without taking the printer all apart again, I just dripped a few drops (2-3) of alcohol on the round screen on the carriage, where the black ink goes in. (make sure the paper towel is under the carriage). A lot of ink came out. I dripped 3 more drops, waiting about 20 seconds between each drop and moved the carriage back and forth. I put the ink cartridge back in and Eureka! IT WORKED!!! The alcohol must have dissolved the gunk the water wouldn't. YAY! I was already looking online to buy a new printer... not HP... and they are not cheap. I'm so thankful this worked and I didn't break anything in the process! :)
@@gudvooy2 Thanks Gudvooy, but on my printer they have used special screws that do not suit a phillips or traditional slot head screwdriver. Just trying to use a phillips on this screw has chewed it up. And it is a 3520 the same as yours. It's very frustrating - maybe time to upgrade to an inktank printer.
I just added a few drops of alcohol to the little round screen on the print carriage under the ink cartridge. Read my experience in the comments above.
I have carried out the processes you show but still no black print. The 3 colours are perfect now though. Is there any other reason the black could still be blocked - and is there a way to prove it is not a faulty printhead? Thanks in advance.
It was a great video, however after taking everything apart, cleaned with water and put back together it didn't work. I proceeded to take whole thing apart again and this time cleaned with isopropyl alcohol put it back together and it still didn't work. I tried 2 different black ink cartridges as well. So, I believe my next step is to replace the print head for the ink OR get a new printer. Thanks anyways!
followed the clear instructions - I am now getting an error message: improper shut down - shut the printer to avoid damage - I also hear a loud clank - Any suggestions?
It was 20% alcohol. In that video I am trying to look if the passage hole for the ink can manage to melt out. As you can see nothing came out on the paper.
"Supprimer le blocage chariot" Hi, sorry for the french text. I followed all given instruction and try to mounting the moving piece after cleaning it. I’ve done all this and put it back together and keep getting a “fix carriage jam” error. The ink carriage moves but it won’t pick the printer head back up again

Repeat the process but use alcohol instead of water to soak the printhead. But if still not printing black try to replace your cartridge.

Try to repeat the process. If symptoms still the same, try to clean the contact between the cartridge to carriage, use a smoother sandpaper.

Be sure you have put the cartridges back in place. Check the plastic ribbon that holds with the cartridge box.
Does this also apply when it says no Magenta even though I put in a new cartridge?
You can try it out. But most common problem with that is, the contact between the cartridge and holder contact is not stable.
