  • As I stood at the edge of the tranquil beach, a sense of both calm and disappointment washed over me. Having checked the weather forecasts closely I was once again feeling let down as instead of crisp morning light, I instead had low clouds and very little light. All around the beach appeared to be draped in a thick blanket of low clouds, creating an almost surreal atmosphere. The waves lazily lapped against the shore, instead of what I would have liked them to be doing and were barely disrupting the stillness. I felt like giving up on the shoot however after surveying the scene, I figured this was the perfect setting for a journey into the realm of fine art photography, where I intended to experiment with long exposures to capture the essence of this moment.
Thanks for watching, if it's your first time on the channel I would really appreciate a subscribe, it massively helps the channel, and of course a like and comment for good measure :-)

Great content as always Darren. I like the over-exposed shots. Maybe you should make that style your own. 👍👍

Very interesting Darren. Definitely food for thought. I think black and white really works well with these type of images. Must try it next opportunity. Thanks for sharing.

Great video Darren by breaking the rules you got some fantastic minimalist photos as you said in the video normally photographs would be watching the histogram for correct exposure but by doing the opposite you made the most out of bad light and turned it into good light thank you for sharing your video

A great way to adapt to unplanned conditions and some lovely images Darren. Blowing the highlights is often counter to what we've all been taught but can be really effective for these kinds of images, Lovely video

Hi Darren, a fantastic video, buddy - and one of my favourite topics, as well ☺ I'm blown away by all your images, especially 08:00 ist really strong. The question is: Does it need that abstract processing as for 08:11 to make it a fine art photograph? Or is it maybe already a fine art photograph at ~08:00? 🙂 I know, and this is what I always say in my videos: there is no clear definition of what fine art photography is, but there is a clear definition of what art is. However, I absolutely like the image at 08:00 as well as 08:11, the latter one is just a bit more abstract. And I like all the other images, as well, of course.
    Awesome, keep them coming 😉
    Nice greetings,
    Christian

I think yet again you made the most of the conditions you had there, though I would never have thought to do the over-exposure to lighten everything around the rocks. A very cool effect. Today was my first day out in over a month, and it was good to be back out again. Great vlog as always, take care.

Thanks Darren, as Gary Gough, inspired you to take the fine art approach You have inspired me to give it a try, and the weather and light here is no excuse but maybe a benefit to get out with your camera and give it a go. Thanks

Lovely set of images D, and I find myself agreeing with you about getting out and practicing your art in all conditions. I thought you did a magnificent job. I for one find it difficult to 'blow' the highlights the way you did, but the resulting images were just beautiful. Have a great week and its a joy to see you out and about in the Red Devil once more 🙏🙏🙏

Ahh thanks man! A first time effort wasn’t too bad !! It felt alien to see the back of the camera flashing with highlight alerts for the entire screen but good to have a play and great to be back in the van for sure !! Thanks for watching have a great week you also

15:19 Peter Eastway is not a Master Photographer, he's a Grandmaster Photographer.
His advice is to get a good technical exposure n location. You have all the detail you could want, and minimal noise.
Later, if you want to blow the sky to buggery and back, you can do that. But, you also have other options.
