As much as I loved their old music style, this is good. There are some people that are upset about it and want the "old BMTH" back, but they're not really happy making that type of music anymore. I will admit I like the metal-core better, but I like the lyrics; just the beat has to grow on me a bit with this one.

In the kerrang mag that came out today, it was obviously a bmth exclusive. And in the interview they all said that they wanted to go with a different style but still have that rock in there. They also said thats the spirit was all pre planned and they knew exactly what they were doing. And they said with the new album theyre just winging it. They again said that, like thats the spirit, theyre trying new styles out and see how it works out. I dont understand why people are making such a big fuss about it. You dont see many singers creating the same style and the same sound of music for every album they release. Thats what bring me are doing. Thats the spirt was different and the new album is gonna be different. Oli cant really go back to the count your blessing era because he damaged his vocal chords because he never learned how to scream the right way. So they are sort of going around that. And creating rock music just not as heavy as it was. Its most likely gonna be a mix between sempiternal and TTS. But they also said that they're creating this new sound to widen the variety of what can be considered rock. So this doesnt really class as pop. Its still rock just different to what we know.

Before the band released That's the spirit Oli got out of rehab for a self admitted drug problem and decided he doesn't like the metalcore style they did for Suicide season, There is a hell, and Sempiternal so they changed their style. Personally I'm upset that they aren't doing the heavier stuff anymore, but I like what they're doing now.

I disagree that by continuing to make metal albums they would have dissatisfied their audience. Every album BMTH released was different from their last album and they still remained within the metal genre. TTS and this new album are not written for metal fans, they're written for radio. they're written just to appeal to the masses. I feel their new albums TTS and this one (i cant remember the name) lack emotion.

Just because they are experimenting with new sounds doesn't mean they are 'sellouts' It means they are progressing with their music, the band are older and probably do not want to stick with their old sound anymore and want to try out new things. Old isn't better, new isn't better... but you can't deny, everything BMTH does is very interesting. I like this song a lot and I can see them throwing another orchestra backed shindig with this song a cornerstone of the setlist. Well done guys and well done on the lyrics too, you've come of age.
ShiivaWilding I agree. They have the talent and conceptual creativity to pull off so many different things. I am paying attention and intrigued no matter what direction they go. The arrangements are not as “cookie cutter” as as the diehard deathcore fans complain about and the content is interesting.

Couldn't agree more. You can't say you are a BMTH fan and then say you hate anything after their first two albums. That makes you a fan of those albums, not the band. I like EVERY album, it describes their progression as a band, perfectly.

To all the people disappointed :
This song is out as a single rn, it's to promote the album, so it will be one of the most "mainstream" songs of the album, so be patient and wait for the next songs to be released bc I think that this scream can be precursory of heaviest tracks
Edit : Of course these are just my thoughts and what I expect, but I'm confident and positive about this album
Edit 2 : Even if the new album would not be too heavy, I still think I'll like it, because Bring Me' always put out music that you've never heard before, and even if the songs are not too heavy, it's still good music, and the most important thing about music, which can tell if it's good or not, is it's ability to share emotions through the lyrics and the music
I wouldn’t really count on it. I actually think that scream might be one of the “heaviest” parts of the album. And it might be there just to satisfy a little those who were hoping for a heavier sound. Either way, I’m excited for this new BMTH album!
You can say that, but everyone was the same when the first single of That's The Spirit came out, supposedly everyone said it was the mainstream song, but at the end the album was soft, and there wasn't any expected heavy song.

This song is a popish version of House of Wolves, it criticizes religion in a way and I just love it, but instead of caring about the lyrics ofc people are paying more attention to "they're not as heavy as they were in Sempiternal" "bring us Count Your Blessings style again" and "I rather the old hair style" omg, just grow up guys, the song is 🔥

when i first heard someone mention that this song was about “oli’s politics” i couldn’t help but think of donald trump and how he doesn’t listen to anyone and keeps saying the same bullshit?? like how his followers are kind of a cult and anything anyone says to him goes “in one ear and right out the other one”. and whenever someone calls him out for something he did he’ll get pissed at them (“before the truth will set you free, it’ll piss you off”). there’s other little things but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
the beauty of good songwriting is that the lyrics can mean different things to different people though, so i definitely see the religion argument, since oli’s written about it before.
I doubt Oli meant this to be about any specific religion/cult. It's about cults in general, be it religion, self-help gurus, trumpian mania etc.
I read something today (i forget where, sorry about that) that he wrote this about his divorce. That's what most of the album is gonna center around. He wasn't too comfortable writing about it until now. The cult he talks about is love & relatioships, & how most people are always lying, cheating, not listening, etc. But music is to be interpreted by the listener. So, whether this song is about him & Hannah in his eyes, you can take away from it whatever that you do & its still fine.

something I learned from listening to bands that don't really adjust to one specific genre is that music is what it is, you can try to label it but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. I'm glad bmth continues to navigate through sounds and find its own style, I'm glad they're still together. people who claim to know a lot about deathcore, post-hardcore, pop, rap, jazz, whatever -and don't knowledge any other music style just because it's not of their liking it's actually pretty ignorant. it's okay if you don't like it, but that doesn't mean no one else does nor does it mean it's bad. as I said, it is what it is, music, art, nothing else.
Preach!! Art is always evolving, and bmth is just continuing to do what they've always done: make music.

I like that bands like bring me the horizon experiment with different sounds and to be honest this is great.
We are all getting older and most of us get fed up with the same old sound from our youths and it's this kind of step that makes the bands still relevant by today's standards.
Metal is changing for the better and my other favourite band currently is crossfaith as they have done something different and I love it.
Very few bands, however, make changes and eventually people get tired of them. I can't wait for BMTH new album. 👌

he can scream at some point, but he doesn't want to scream anymore and that's the deal. if you look at his spotify list you can see there's a lot of pop, electronic and indie music on it. this song reflects what he likes now and to be honest i like it, i don't listen the same shit what i used to and for me it's really cool to see how this band it's constantly growing and growing. Yes, we all miss the old dark vibe (im not gonna lie) but im happy that they still make cool music like this.

This was a pleasant suprise to hear when I booted up Watch_Dogs Legion. Didn't expect this song and Architect's "Hereafter" to be part of the music on the in game radio stations. Great to have two of my favourite bands featured in the game :D
i guess it's sometimes good not to have any emotional connection to a band, cuz it lets me just to enjoy the music without losing my shit if the song differs from their earlier releases=D this is absolutely fucking awesome. one of the best songs released in 2018. gives me some good tool vibes :P
