A great video. Loved the narrative. Felt for you with those storms but what a beautiful place when the weather is good and so pleased it didn't put you off altogether. No shame in going back, we did the same just recently. Thanks for sharing ⛵
Thank you 😊 It did grind us down as it was incessant and we are VERY glad we didn’t try to weather 60 knots out there! But we did dust ourselves off and carry on and we do return to the islands. Ep6 (tbc) will show their true beauty. Thanks for watching and I hope our paths cross someday 😊⛵️⛵️
Refreshing to see such an honest take on the sailing life. Thank you for sharing, we are certainly learning a lot from you! We cant wait for the next episode!
Thanks guys. It was a tough one to make and as you can see we learnt lots ourselves! We will return to Scilly in Ep 6 and you’ll see more of what an amazing place it can be 😊
Thanks for the video guys ☺️ we also know the feeling with a paradise anchorage that can be somewhat soured by the wrong conditions! It's always great that you two handle everything so calmly though, and even when tired and a bit fed up appreciate the beauty of where you are. Emotional rollercoaster sounds about right for this lifestyle! We must all be adrenaline junkies 😅😅 looking forward to the next one, fair winds you two x
Love the Isles of Scilly, our 1st time was on route between Dublin and Brest in 2011 with our 3 boys (14, 9 & 6) been back a few times but NEED to get back especially as John & I are sailing without the lads now, great dolphin footage
Thank you Deb….yes that wasn’t a great week but as you’ll see in later episodes the Isles of Scilly made up for rough times! Thank you for your comment and support 😊😊
Truly beautiful to watch and learn from your both⛵️😊😊🙏 Thank you 🙏🙏 both for sharing. I believe I have just been watching the sunset at Portland marina by your fathers beautiful huge stunning boat 🛥 And as I was watching your video sat there on the berthing walkways A truly wonderful beautiful seal came along To watch your Ace video with me 🙏 🦭☀️🌟⛵️ Wishing you both and everyone a truly wonderful sailing ⛵️ future for as long as the fair winds blow kindly for all 🙏🙏🙏🙏⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️🌎
Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and got to share it with the seal. The wildlife we see at sea is incredible 😊😊
Another great video! The Scillys are beautiful but a pain in adverse weather. Fantastic footage and lucky for you to have the dolphin co-travellers! Keep the video updates coming!!
Adapt and overcome ..... in any case its all part of the adventure which makes it more memorable. Scilly Isles do look stunning deffo need a return visit. Stay safe out there 👍
We’ve all had that… We are in an anchorage now that was a nightmare the first night but it’s paradise today 🤷🏻♀️ And The Isles of Scilly aren’t going anywhere 😊👍🏼
Cheers guys….it was just bad timing. The U.K. early spring was particularly bad this year but fear not, we went back and it was stunning as you’ll see in an episode coming soon 👍🏻 (haven’t decided if it’s next episode or the one after yet! 😂😂) Thanks for watching 😊
Great video, thank you! Reminds me of my one trip to Scilly. I was single-handed, overnight from Falmouth to Scilly in my 26’ MacGregor trailer sailer. As it has lifting daggerboard and drainable water ballast I was able to take ground on the sand bar between Gugh and St Agnes and so avoid that notorious Atlantic swell. Was lovely arriving as the sun was rising, the landing lights at the airport on St Marys adding to an already stunning light show. The Islands are superb, well worth a visit, whether by boat or plane. Thanks again for a delightful video! ⛵️🍾❤️ Ps. My wife’s nickname for me is Mr Bear, so your channel name caught my eye 😂
Thanks Mike. I know people said those Macgregors didn’t sail very well but, as an ex motor boater, I loved the Macgregror concept of being able to do 20kts with a big outboard if you got bored of sailing! Great to be able to take the ground in somewhere like scilly too 😊 Anyway glad you enjoyed this episode and hopefully you enjoy our other two happier Scilly episodes even more. It is a stunning place in the right weather 😍 I think it’s great that your nickname brought you to our channel! Cheers 😊⛵️
Hi guys... great to hear from other 391 owners! Thanks for your comments. Scilly is amazing but boy do you need the right weather! We will return there in Ep 6 though! Hit us up on instagram or facebook if you'd like to. We love to follow other 391 sailors :-)
Good to hear from you guys again, even if you left the date out! I guess less than idyllic would sum it up. Looking forward to next episode. Wishing you fair following winds.
Oh Bill…I’m hurt!😉😂 I put the date in just for you (check the video 58 seconds in) and you didn’t even see it!! Dateline: Mid May 2021just after the title. Anyway less than idyllic does indeed sum it up but we will return and it will be stunning. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏻
Yes indeed. I think, although us Brits do like to moan about the weather, the early summer was pretty bad this year and it was just incessant while we were out there. Even the nice day we got ashore it was still 25kts in the anchorage but anyway we will/did return, the islands are stunning and ep 6(I think!) will show them off 👍🏻😊⛵️

Awww cheers guys. Glad you enjoyed it and can identify with it! At least it was up from there! 👍🏻😊

Love the episode. We are 10 months into to our journey, and have had a few of those sleepless nights, glad they are few and far in between.

Well done guys - good decisions and great to hear an honest assessment on how one feels at a low point cruising. Fellow 391 owners

@@FollowIntrepidBear guess I was expecting the spoken word, not the banner. Profuse apologies, Ian, mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
Always learning, that’s sailing! Just unfortunate timing when you went with weather.

Pity you didn’t get to Tresco abbey gardens. Stunning
Hi…we did return in episodes 6 and 7 and had a much better time in the stunning islands and did do the gardens. What an amazing place 😊😊
It isn't a failure if you learn something.👍
Thank you…yes indeed we learnt loads and of course we will be/went back and had a lovely time once the weather sorted itself out a bit! 👍🏻😊
Have you heard of Mother Cary’s Chickens?
Hadn’t heard of them but have now googled! Thanks 😊
