  • HX Stomp: SERIES vs PARALLEL. Which one to use? I need to apologize. I explained one thing wrong in last weeks "Will It Ambient" video. And today we are making it right, and making some great sounds while we do it. The HX Stomp can make some really ambient sounds if you dial it in right. Let me know your tips down in the description!

    Mod chorus echo and reverb in a parallel path is the best ambient tone. One of my first videos of quarantine was this topic 🤘

    I've seen guys use side path reverb for weirdness- bitcrushers, arpeggiators, freezes, etc. which is cool if you're going for ambient stuff. This is the beauty of modelers! Routing options galore.

    Another great use of the split path is the split crossover. I put it at 300 hz and "reverse" mode and run the Ganymede on path B to compensate for the fact that it doesn't have low cut. Really helps take some of the mud out of the reverb.

      @@HeyWorshipLeader My pleasure. I've been playing in church for 40 years now. It's great to have people share their ideas/perspectives/knowledge. Helps me keep my playing fresh. Keeps me out of getting stuck in a rut. I love serving through music and continuing to push the envelope is part of the joy. So keep the videos coming.

    Coming from a more synth design background, on the split path, putting the filter and delay between the two reverbs creates different tones to the reverb.

  • @recordingbude8653
    @recordingbude8653 3 года назад +4

    It also might be a good idea to separate Delay and Reverb into two paths to keep the delay more clean and focussed. This way you don't wash out your delay repetitions in reverb. Need to check myself if this works as intended on the Stomp.

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  3 года назад +3

      Definitely. That's what I was trying to show by having one delay on the a path and one on the b path. Makes a huge difference! Thanks for watching!

    what the parallel allows you to do is to bypass other effects with the reverb..

    If you dont know who Jason Sadites is, you arent a TRUE Helix fanboy :) and BTW its pronounced "SAY-DYTES" (2 syllables). and you definitely need to watch ALL his videos as he has some amazing info on how to get the best sounds out of your Helix/Line 6 product and has given away so so many free killer presets on Custom Tone as well as many paid ones too. He is a true guitar icon who has played with some legendary players over the years.

    Your original sounds better actually they don’t sound the same the 2nd one has the elements the tIming of how the reverb affects the signal seems to be more immediate in your secret sauce preset so I’m copying that idea. GREAT JOB YOU FOUND SOMETHING VERY COOL BRO !

    • @HeyWorshipLeader

      Yeah, I felt the same way...but I honestly think it's how hard I picked the string...did you watch Jason Sadites videos on this topic...very compelling

    Is it possible on the HX stomp to create a fx loop if your amp doesn’t have one so that way the reverb and delay don’t mix with the distortion ? If the HX stomp is running front of the amp?

    • @johanneschristopherstahle3395
      @johanneschristopherstahle3395 5 месяцев назад

      Yes, that's possible as long as you keep your amp clean and use the HX or other pedals for the distortion.

  • @jackprice7828

    To my ear the secret sauce seems to have a faster trigger on the beginning of your note.

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I noticed some subtle differences as well...but I think it's just because I couldn't dial it in exactly. This video is much more scientific: ruclips.net/video/6uZpaP-taYw/видео.html

    i have a roland jc 22, it got fx loops and can work in parallel. my goal is to get two signals at the same time, one with compressor, distortions, etc (everything before the fx loops block in my hx) and my delays and modulations i want them clean, 100% wet... but when i set them 100% wet no matter what i do the delay is repeating with distortion... in parallel without using distortion before the fx loop, the sound is perfect, i want the clean delay parallel mixed with the distorted guitar. any clues on what i'm missing here? i mean it has to be possible to do what i intend or is it really necessary to use two amps to get this 100% wet + 100% dry setup that i'm trying to get?

    i have to know, how accurate are the HD600 (or whichever) headphones are to your stage sound. I have a very tough time with the major differences between home and stage regardless of my monitor of choice. however, my studio monitor (entry level JBL) are closest, but not always practical to use. or is it just the name of the game and you have a sunday tone and a home tone?

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  3 года назад +2

      They work really well for me. I never need to make adjustments...although I play the same location every weekend. The only change I'll make from time to time is how thick a reverb to use. But the tone is always spot on
