Use rice you cooked day before. Quick scramble egg in hot wok. Set aside in a bowl. Fry chopped aromatics: onions, garlic, ginger. Add rice, stir fry with aromatics. Add egg and rice. Stir fry. Add frozen peas. Stir fry. Add salt pepper and soy sauce, stir fry everything together. It should be ready after a few minutes...

She does has a fine collection of Iran Maiden t-shirts. You cannot judge a person on how she cooks her rice alone, I think. I've never given it much thought.

    Hallo Kay, next time you make fried rice. Make sure to fullfill the following :
    1. Rice is cold (not watery)
    2. After you fry the onions, fry the eggs, you can add additional ingredients here like meats and red onions.
    3. Mix it up
    4. When the egg looks kind of half cooked or 3/4 cooked, put the rice in
    5. You can put salt and Monosodium Glutamat (MSG)
    6. Keep Mixing
    7. Put sweet soja sauce. This is crucial.
    8. Just keep on mixing and stirring until the color is bit browny.

    Soy sauce, fish sauce, and a little white pepper do wonders. Also a tip: cook your rice the day before and then refrigerate it to use the next day when you make the fried rice

    Ive been watching your rice videos. Hon, please, use way more seasoning! More salt, more pepper, garlic, cumin, all of it! Also when you cook your eggs, cook them seperate, then also season your eggs AFTER they solidify. Then mixed the cooked egg with cooked rice.

    I use sesame oil for that extra oriental flavour with garlic(notburnt), diced onion, MSG, soya sauce, 2-3 eggs. Stir fry in the wok, you can add ginger for spice and flavour too.

    I made this when I was a newlywed... that explains why he ate it. I didn’t use cooked, COMPLETELY COOLED rice. The rice has to be cooled for it not to be mushy. One thing that will help with flavor is cook your rice in chicken broth or salt the water your rice is being cooked in. My first try basically turned into what looked like rice pudding. 😂🤣 I cried while he lied and said it was good.

    Hi Ms Kay, I really appreciate your effort to improve your egg fried rice. Please allow me to give you some tips on the procedure based on the ingredients you have used here. I would suggest to dice the onions and fry till fragrant followed by eggs till fluffy then adding the rice (preferably left overnite in the fridge) and season them with salt and pepper (preferably soy sauce or MSG) also keeping the stove on high heat all the time.     Kay, for the love of rice! Cook the rice the day before. Let it cool in the fridge. You can’t use hot rice. That’s why it turns to mushy crap when you added it. Cook the scrambled egg in another pan. Heat up the oil in the wok and add the shallots and garlic. Fry just a min till it’s fragrant, then add the eggs, meat and after a minute or two add the rice. Salt, pepper, soy sauce, and any other spice you can get your hands on. Like Sambal Balace or oyster sauce. Stir around a few mins until the rice is hot, add any veg you’re wanting to add and then you’re done. Garnish with chopped spring onion. It’s simple. This isn’t as complicated as you’re making it.

    I hope you read this.
    Your rice is still undercooked. The easiest ways to cook rice for beginner is by measuring. 1 cup of rice + 2 cups of water. 2 cups of rice + 3 cups of water and so on.
    First, you need you make sure you have the lid for the pot you are using to cook the rice. Clean your rice by washing it under running water. Wash and rinse 3 times. The fourth wash is where you measure your water.
    -put it on stove on medium heat. Do not out the lid yet. Let the rice boil and you can see the water starts bubbling and become thicker.
    -Lower the heat and put the lid on.
    -Let it cook. The way to tell if the rice is cook is when there's no steam coming out from the pot. When there's no steam, turn off the stove. Do not lift the lid yet. Let it sit at least 5-10 minutes before checking you rice.
    And wallah! You will get the hot and fluffy rice that you can either use it to make fried rice or you can just eat it like that with fried egg or chicken/fish/beef.

      if all your pot linds are fucked up and they let steam escape, just put a towel/cloth over the pot then add the lid, works for me.
      Also, use finger method to meassure rice-water ration, and let the rice sit for 5 minutes when your done

    Rice tastes bland, yes, that's why you would want more seasoning on it! Onion alone won't be enough for your fried rice. We here in Asia (I'm from Indonesia) usually use garlic, shallot, chilli, soy sauce (important!), and even shrimp paste in some recipes (and msg if you dont mind). I can understand many people in west dont like shrimp paste, but at least add others besides just onion. Also this is preference I guess, but we usually put egg first before rice so the rice and egg will be separated and cooked nicely.
    Came here from uncle roger's review, nice to see you do better in each attempt, but you can still do a better fried rice I believe!

    I would recommend using Shallot and spgreeing onion. Also, soy sauce adds the saltiness. First fry the egg, then the onions. After that, the rice. Also, MSG can save the day.

    The amount you're improving per attempt is pretty great. Keep it up!
    If you want to give it another go, add more flavouring to your rice so it doesn't taste so bland:
    1. Fry up garlic and shallots first until golden brown.
    2. Add eggs in a mix til almost solid.
    3. Optional but I like to add some chinese sausage here. (Alternatively you can go to a chinese bbq shop and get some bbq pork - add in after rice)
    4. Put day-old, chilled rice in. (If you want extra flavour, add chicken stock to the water you boil your rice in.)
    5. Add soy sauce, white pepper and MSG.
    6. When rice is almost done, garnish with chilli and shallots.

    Try adding some soy sauce and/or Sriracha. While the veggies are in the skillet, add pureed garlic and ginger. And cooked until fragrant. Then, add your rice and sauce(s). You can add sauteed beef, fish or chicken to the rice or onto the side. My husband loves to add cheese to his rice for some odd reason. Oh. And to help with the eggs. Make a well in the center of the rice and veggie. While focusing on the eggs, you can stir until cooked. Then, toss everything together.

    1 chop ur unions smaller and use less.
    2 use less oil and cook on lower heat.
    3 first cook the unions and put the eggs in right after that.
    4 use dry rice
    5 use some more spices.
    6 THEN put the rice in

    i would dice the onion to make it a bit more even and i'd also add garlic because.. garlic
    i might just be too conscious of the calories but even just 2 teaspoons of oil would work
    don't pour the egg directly into the thing because it'll literally just combine with everything. i'd suggest shoveling the rice on one side of the pan and adding a bit more oil if needed and then cracking the eggs directly onto the pan without pre-scrambling. once the whites have been half-cooked, move it around gently just like a scramble without touching the rice. once that's cooked, break it up a bit and then mix the rice with it again. also, add some veggies. boom, fried rice

    I cook egg fried rice almost everyday. Here's how I do it:
    1. Cook rice the day before you cook fried rice. Make sure you dont overwater it. When it is done cooking, let it cool then refrigerate. (The trick is to actually use refrigerated leftover rice.)
    The next day:
    2. Beat 2-3 eggs and put a pinch of salt. Fry it separately.
    3. Get rice from the refrigerator and "mash" it so the grains separate from each other.
    4. Heat your pan (high heat), then put oil.
    5. When oil is hot, put minced garlic.
    6. When garlic is a bit golden brown (do not burn), put your leftover rice.
    7. Mix it well then put salt to taste.
    8. Continue mixing for 3-4 minutes, still separating the grains.
    9. Put cooked egg, then continue mixing for 1-2 minutes more.
    That's it.

    What the f am i watching
    Just put a little bit of white and red onions and anything else you want to add like shredded chiken or shit like that, crag an egg or two put it in the wok, mix it, put the rice in, salt&pepper, sweet soy sauce and just put it in and mix it for a 2-4 minutes
    You can also put the egg first and then put the garlic etc

    Kay, I truly feel like you want to get this right. Others think you may be trolling and getting it wrong on purpose to trigger people. Part of me agrees(to the point where I feel like your failed attempts being either purposeful or genuine mistakes is a possibility), but I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you are simply a passionate cook who wants to learn and grow. With that said, I will give you a recipe that will allow you to make Chinese restaurant quality fried rice. You will need(I'm American, so forgive the different forms of measurement):
    •1 cup of rice
    •3 eggs
    •1 tablespoon of oil
    •1/3 cup of mixed vegetables(peas will work fine too
    •1 tablespoon of minced garlic(storebought minced garlic is fine)
    •1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
    •1 tablespoon of soy sauce
    Part 1: The Rice:
    •Cook rice as you would normally
    •Stow it away in the fridge until it cools. Keeping it in the fridge for at least a day is the most ideal.
    Part 2: The Wok and The Eggs(AKA The Pan You Use To Make Your Fried Rice Currently):
    •Heat the wok on the stove at the highest setting until it gets overbearingly hot. A good way to check if it's hot enough is to wet your hand with water and shake some of the residual water off your hand and into the wok. If the water instantly sizzles and disappears, the wok is hot enough.
    •When the wok is hot enough, add the oil. Swirl the oil around in the wok to coat every part of the inside of the wok with a thin layer of oil; this will ensure that nothing sticks to the wok.
    •Crack the eggs into a bowl, beat them, and put them into the wok and scramble them. When they are fully scrambled, use a spatula to break them apart into small chunks. Take them out of the wok and set them aside.
    Part 3: The Rice and Everything Else:
    Important Note: The golden brown color of the rice does not come from the process of frying the rice, but from the seasonings you add, specifically the soy sauce and oyster sauce.
    Important Note 2: When the rice is in the wok, it must be stirred constantly, or else it may burn and stick to your wok. If it helps, imagine there being a bomb in your stove with a 10 second timer which resets every time your rice is stirred or otherwise moved around the wok. Leaving the rice still for 10 seconds will cause this bomb to explode.
    •Add the minced garlic and fry for approximately 3 seconds, until just barely starting to brown. This will imbue the garlic's flavor into the oil.
    •Add the rice and stir
    •Add the mixed vegetables and scrambled eggs, continuing to stir while doing so.
    •Add the soy sauce and oyster sauce. Stir until the rice is a uniform brown color(if some small parts of the rice are still white, it's perfectly ok).
    •Remove wok from heat and serve.

    step by step how to cook fried rice
    1. 3 tbs of oil. heat them.
    2. 2 cloves of garlic cut and sliced nicely + 1 bulb of onion. into the oil.
    3. put some cooled cooked rice into there
    4. add sweet soy sauce
    5. add soy sauce
    6. add chili sauce

    Use msg. Soy sauce. Some chilli powder. Salt and black or white pepper . How to make it. Scramble fried the egg first and add some salt. Fried some garlic untill its golden brown on medium heat. Then add some onions. Stir untill the onions sweats.(turns limp and shiny) add the rice and stir. Turn the heat up abit. Add the egg. Stir. Add soy sauce 3 table spoon. 1 table spoon of msg. 1 table spoon of chilli powder and stir. Lastly add salt and pepper to taste. Taste it. Then adjust the season to your liking. Then serve. If you want to add meats or seafood. Stir fried them first until 1/2 cooked or 3/4 cooked. Then add them after you add the onions. Same goes for peas or vegies. Add them after adding the onions. Use day old cooked rice. Save it in the fridge. Good luck and your welcome

    You should have made a hole in the center of the pan and put the egg in.. not directly on the rice

    If you doesnt want your rice to be to wet, you need to fried your eggs after the onion and garlic turn yellow color, then put your rice. Some garlic will make your cooking taste different and put some salt, it will taste good! Keep it up.

    Honey, you seem like a sweetheart. But more eggs is not the issue here. You need soy sauce and oyster sauce in your fried rice - that's why it's bland. It's not the eggs that give it its signature colour but the sauces.

    Try using sesame oil to fry in. spring onions, frozen peas, soy sauce. Oh and fry the egg in sesame oil separately

    'The rice is bland.' 'Well rice tastes like that anyways'.
    Well yeah, that's why there's something called seasoning. And the king of it is what Uncle Roger screams every time: MSG. Rice is bland. But MSG is the opposite of that. In Chinese it's literally called 'flavor concentrate'.
    Also, it seems that it's a better idea to put in the eggs first. Although I have to say I DID read instructions to put raw, wet eggs on rice and fry it with rice. And that's actually a Chinese website, got it when I was searching on Baidu...
