    Video transcript:
Hello I’m Sheila Rowan and I’m the President of the Institute of Physics.
As the festive break approaches I want to wish you all the very best and take this opportunity to ask you to consider nominating someone, or yourself, for the 2023 IOP Awards.
Nominations are open until midday on 30 January.
Every year the IOP Awards celebrate excellence in all areas of physics, across the UK, Ireland and internationally.
What I’ve learnt from talking to countless members at all stages of their careers is quite what an impact winning an IOP Award can have.
For those at the start of their careers, it can be transformational.
So as the year draws to a close I’d urge you to take a moment to reflect on some of the amazing work being done by your colleagues, contemporaries and students and consider nominating them.
You could make a huge difference to their 2023 and their entire career trajectory.
We’re especially keen to see more women and physicists from other under-represented groups nominated as well as technicians and apprentices.
And we’d love to see more people nominating themselves this year.
All the details of the nominations process are on our website so please, take a look and I wish you the very best of luck!
