Hey Michael.. I'm curious what you can make out of a Nitrile, latex-free exam glove. That's what we carry in the ambulance and I'd like to make our kid patients something fairly quick and not the usual rooster. If you can, THANKS!

I was in a pinch for a party and bought balloons from Party City. Those suckers popped while inflating, let alone twisting. I'm not doing that again. You are a brave soul.
I live in Dayton, Ohio and we're lucky to have the Balloon Room just north of Dayton. They do mostly catalog and online sales, but they let locals come into their warehouse to shop.
So I prefer to use Qualatex or Bettalic, usually I buy from American Balloon Factory. But for practicing (and actually worked well in a pinch for a festival) I’ve used some bought off Walmart online. Was supposed to be 200 balloons plus pump for like $10. Got the balloons, decent quality too, but never got the pump. Fortunately I have 6 lol. Recently I tried out some Twisting balloons from Hobby Lobby, and despite the reviews, so far they aren’t bad. Going to try some more complicated designs and see how they hold up. And if Party stuff is on sale, they’re like $2.50 for 100.
Since I can’t really order the ballons or get then somewhere good I have a little store next to my house we’re they sell the happy party Ballons and they work fine most times
After searching around, I found the walmart brand balloons here in the midwest are decent (I was shocked), and there is a reasonably priced online store called bargain balloons that carries the majority of the qualitex line, with no minimum order and shipping is a flat rate in the US and canada.

There are twisting balloons at the dollar store that come in "assorted" balloon bags with round balloons. You wouldn't believe it, but thw are much different
When I was in southern Thailand I got to cut a rubber tree and watch the latex run out like milk. It didn't have much of a smell but when it dried it was awful. The neighbors were I stayed had a small factory where they processed the latex. It always smelt like dead fish. Most asian balloons have this mild smell to them or something to cover it up.
I have made a bear and butterfly with dollar store balloons and they haven’t popped on me. The only one that popped on me was with a really basic dog ballon, but that was one out of the handful I made already lol

It seems like half size balloons are good for figures that only require a half a balloon or a part of a figure but scraps of a better quality balloon serve the same function so ibwill stay away from dollar store balloons
bobbycorbin3 actually the happy party ballons are good to I use them a lot cuz I can’t find others but they do work the only thing wrong is the colors.
i think you better stick with the qualatex animal balloons. don't get me wrong the dollar store ones are good too, but qualatex is always the better choice.

I would like to see a video of you testing out the balloons from Walmart and Hobby Lobby. You can get 20 for $1.50 at Walmart, and you can get 100 at Hobby Lobby for $7.95. I am fairly new, and ordered Qualatex balloons but I seem to get more from Hobby Lobby to pop at least half the time and when you blow it up, it seems the end that you blow it up at is much wider than the other end. Ill be watching to see if you post a video on them. Thanks for the vids.
Get the ones from Walmart. I believe the brand is "celebration" which I believe is a Walmart brand but I'm 99% sure they actually commission qualatex to make balloons for them. They have the exact same colors and color combinations (such as Classic colors or vibrant colors), packaging similarities esp near the barcode, both made in Canada, same feel, etc. the only difference is the walmart ones are slightly shorter but barely. Prob cuz they want to keep them cheap so they ask qualatex to make it a bit shorter. Go and see what I mean! And get them for your next video of "grocery store balloons"

Hi Michael. You are a thousand times better than I am at making balloon figures. And I use your tutorials a lot. However, I do take issue a bit with a couple of things on your video. I would have preferred that you stick to comparing just the balloons - not the pump or the little instructions - which Qualatex don't have, so it's not really comparable (though the pumps are terrible). I have a very good pump, and I know how to make a few balloon figures. I just need to know what the balloons are like. I would never use those balloons you're testing in line work. Not as robust as Qualatex. However, I sometimes buy balloons at the supermarket. They're cheaper, and I use them for myself. I find that they are good enough - not the tiny ones, of course. They seldom pop, and my kindergarten students are very happy with the result - as I am most of the time.

I am surprised that a lot of Party City latex balloons were manufactured from Anagram, and their's quality sucked!
