Thanks for the video. I really appreciate the part about moving the sections around the work area. I have a question. I use a Mac book air. Since updating I lost my camera feed of my work area. I have the picture in the camera section but not in the work area. Any ideas? Thanks for all you do.
So far, so good with 1.7. The snipping tool and the improved line tool makes a huge difference for me as I will no longer need to create or modify sketches in another product. I use LB for creating or modifying patterns for cutting leather. I also make a lot of use of the camera to capture the items that will be stored or carried in the finished goods so easy to create patterns on the fly without using any other software.
Hi Rich! I'm completely new new to lasers. In my process of learning lightburn, I've stumbled across a setting/feature that I have not yet seen anywhere that involves the shape move increments. I discovered that if you hold ctrl and shift with the arrows, it will move the shape exactly 1/10th of what you have set for ctrl-arrow. For example if you have it set to 1mm, ctrl + shift + arrow will move it .1mm. Same for if set to .5 it will move .05
Awesone tutorial/overview as always Rich. With the barcodes, engraving the linear might be a problem. THere is no ay to adjust the NBR (Narrow Bar Ratio) and the BWR (Bar Width ratio. Without having those options, it will be hard to get a great engrave of a linear (Code 128 or 93) on a laser engraved item. I would stick with the 2D Datamtrix or the QR. WIth the EAN (which is the same as the GS1 standard), and you want to use the GTIN standard which will allow AI (Application identifiers), you aren't able to add those which are signified with "( )" with a number such as 01, 10, 17, 21. I am a packaging and labeling designer and wrote many SOP's and WI on Barcodes. When we print with our thermal transfer printers and the barcodes (Lienar) are printed vertically, they will usually fail the verification. Like you mentioned, linear are going away for the general public but will be used for SKU's, mfg. for awhile still. We are moving to the 2D datamatrix standard for mfg. and devices. I love what Lightburn has done with this version.
Hi Rich, I’m new and don’t have my software yet. If I buy today will I get the 1.7 at $60 or an older version that will have to be upgraded after October 1?
I up dated. Now I can’t change the x, y or the dimensions by highlighting then and typing in what I want. Only by using the arrow up or down and this changes the number dramatically. Not sure why? Have had issues with this?
Thanks Rich for the review a lot of great new features. One thing that has always bother me is being color blind all of the red/green lines and boxes just look gray to me. A lot of folks like me with color blindness have this problem. It's not just with Lightburn my 3D CAD software has the same issue. I do wish the bounding boxes were differentiated a different way with maybe dashed or dotted lines.
That change to the draw tool is enough to make me want to refresh my license. I love the guys at lightburn. They earn my business instead of holding the software hostage.
I love the scissors, I mentioned them in the forums the other day, been using them in beta version for a few weeks but glad I no longer have to flip between 2 versions lol. The selector tool for me, however, is no good as I'm red green colourblind 😢
Thanks Rich for describing all the updates with explanations. The only one I'm not liking is the line tool, if you use Shift to get a straight line. Geoff
Thanks for the demo on V1.7 Rich. I can't wait to upgrade and try the new features. I can offer one reason why I don't print the text on the material test. It's faster without it! BTW, I find the material test for establishing cut settings hopeless. I use the 5mm squares and get a nice cut setting which I apply to my cut layer and it never cuts all the way through. I have read that it's because to cut 5mm squares, the module is accelerating and decelerating a lot and is effectively moving slower than the set speed, therefore cutting deeper.
The new cut shapes tool is what I was really looking forward to and it doesn't disappoint. I tested it on a design that took my about 15 minutes to break and nodes and delete lines. With the new tool, the same exact thing took 20 second to complete. I also like the new selection tool where you drag the box from left or right depending on what you wish to select. At the end when you mentioned being unable to redock the windows, such as console or camera or whatever you undock, you didn't mention how to redock those. I only ask because I did have this issue, and had to reset my windows to default, which sort of fixed it. Now when I open lightburn, it never opens back to the same layout. I have to reselect the material library and art library, for example. I reached out to support and their suggestions did not fix the issue.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thanks Rich. I know how but it was not working. They would not turn blue and not dock. I had to reset to default to get them to dock, but now the tabs for many of the windows do not open by default when opening the software or a new window. I also had three rows of windows before, with console and camera on the top, move and cut/engrave layers in middle and the laser and libraries on the bottom. I cannot get the 3rd row to stay on top either. It opens with only two rows everytime now (this dates back to 1.6.03 or something (sorry, have forget all the versions numbers off the top of my head)
*If you need to renew or buy Lightburn, better do it quickly!* _Prices are going up very soon!_
I still have 112 days left. How far out can we renew? DISREGARD. It was explained on LB site. Thanks for the heads up...I renewed.
Thanks Rich. Feel confident with the upgrade. Will do today. As always you're greatly appreciated
Sure thing Craig!

Don't know anything about a MAC Steve, but I do know there is new MAC support for camera settings in 1.7.
Always great info ! i just love Lightburn and can't wait for Millmage for cnc. Keep up the good work:-)
Awesome! 👍 Thanks for watching!
Thank You Rich! I upgraded but hadn't seen these upgrades yet. Your coverage of them is very thorough, as always. Thanks again!
You bet Pop-Pop!

Yep, there are lots of keyboard secrets nobody talks about. Seems it confuses some folks.

I used to use a barcode font for this, but sometimes it was hard to find the right one.

You'll get it at today's price. See my video posting in the morning Tony.
17:52 I'm just old enough to know what a floppy disk is but most people watching this are scratching their heads. 😅 Great video by the way!
🤪 Good point!!

Great ide Terry! Post it on their forum in the wish list!
Thanks Rich, I love the scissors feature as well. I used it last night to fix a Client’s logo for engraving. It saved me about an hour of editing

Glad you enjoyed it!
Cheers, just got to my 1.7 update tonight, great help, thanks 🎉
I appreciate that, *thanks!*

You can still do it the old way Geoff.
Well, done video and very informative Rich. Thank you for taking the time.
You bet Rob! 👍

Thanks so much!
The neatest thing I like about the new material test is you have size displayed
Agreed!
How did yours fill in mine is just lines and I have to preview it to get the information
Window --> Filled / Course
Thanks for all your Lightburn content. I have been learning a lot!
Awesome! 👍 Thanks for watching Fred!
Thank you Rich fr this great informational video
My pleasure Clayton!
Great job Rich! Thank you for putting this out there.
Thanks so much Phil!
Thank You Rich, Grerat Information.

You can change the sizes of the squares, but that's true to some degree. The Material test is just for baseline settings Doug.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Yes, I think I've increased them to 10 & 15mm, but get the same effect 😆
Thank you Rich, great video 💪☕️
You can also put it on your product you're selling
Love the new barcode feature!
Great video. Your video's are so easy to fellow.
Glad you like them!
Loving the trim tool makes workflow so much faster

You drag the tabs over each other to re-dock them like I did in the video.
