O.K., guys .. IMHO, one of the best and most helpful videos in a long time in the series .. In fact, this one should be one of the first in the series, as Azu pointed out, this behavior (shoving, pushing, etc.) is the precursor to many fights. Resolve the "issue" at that point, and the fight is over before it even begins and escalation of techniques is necessary. 👍 I've often wondered what the Aikido approach/response would be to shoving and pushing "matches", as I haven't really seen anything in the way of traditional Aikido techniques that address same. Once again, it takes a "street approach" to come up with the necessary answer. KEEP ON GROWING, AIKIDOFLOWERS!

As to upcoming videos, wish you guys would come up with some techniques to use when attacked by someone who is in a seated position (the attacker is in the seated position). I know this may sound strange, but I actually talked to a client (I'm a personal injury attorney, btw) the other day who had bent over to give what they thought was going to be a hug to a person in a wheelchair. They had done this before, but apparently this time the attacker was "off meds" or some such, grabbing my client by the hair (they are both F) with both hands, pulling her head downward toward the attacker's lap and putting her off balance. Worse, the attacker then let loose her right hand and used it to pull out a weapon (knife) that was secreted between her right side and that of her wheelchair, stabbing my clint repeatedly in the top of the skull with it. 😨 Fortunately, my client was able to eventually twist loose of the attacker's grasp and run for help. I'm curious as to what a proper Aikidoflow response would have been to that kind of attack. Nothing could be done using the lower body, e.g. a throw or trying to get behind the attacker, since the attacker was in a (wheel)chair. In fact, there are several techniques shown in the series defending against a knife attack (i.e. simple single thrust), but have yet to see one against the "grab and stab" combo, or to respond to the "sewing machine" (i.e. rapid, repeated thrusts, sometimes directed toward different areas of the body) style of knife attack. Please show us something about how to address all of these situations in future videos. 🥺

It's the advantage of Aikido's "circles" - the body can feel and react to the direct push, but is always late to respond to the twist. I found the same thing in shionage - just having an arm over the shoulder and down the back is *not* enough - but taking advantage of the various connections up the arm by slightly *twisting* the wrist at the same time pulls the spine out of alignment, and the body reacts to protect it - dropping to the ground. Did a training demo for some marines - we could literally hang off their arm at the end of the shionage with no effect - until we added the twist...

If you are not trained at all. Odds of success will be increased by not ever being square with you opponent. Keep your profile toward someone that wants to strike you. You will have made yourself a smaller target, less vitals opening. You also are in great position to strike. This is the basics of fighting, keep your strong side farthest from opponent. You want to win not be fancy. Don't run mouth, never push. If you could push and make contact why didnt you knock him out..push is going to win no fights. Number one way to win, stike first without warning if you have good stiking power you will likely always win..btw doesnt take much just make contact in the right areas. Jab in throat, solarplex, bottom ribs. Face shots are risky out the gate, it's nature to move your head away from danger..hard to move whole body.
Reach down and move someone hip not good. If you can do that you should had striked and ended it. That's my two cents.

This is very informative and very good stuff as always but ultimately in the fighting world the sole objective should be to get rich win as many championships and see the most beautiful gorgeous works and visit fascinating lands created by God & Christ only and as far as useless street fighting blend in the art with whatever gets the job and anything can be a weapon everything from a car or truck a gasoline pump as well as actual fighting weapons because once a man transitions into the world of fighting you become a living breathing weapon and you understand from that first attack the moment it begins you've already signed a waiver that you are not concerned about life or death that the sole intent is to be focused on the enemy and to put him down for good no mercy no hesitation no restraint and being ready at all times striking from every position with every since being sharp with the sole and only intent of being the very best very good and always be resourceful clever agile and accurate
