My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
Great instructional video Chad. Yep i'm that guy that ended up in the water just trying to get out of my kayak. Totally lost my footing and just kept back peddling it until yep you guessed it, splash, lucky for me it was a hot day and was kind of refreshing. Your video has given me a better approach as to the proper way to exit a kayak. And of course we all did have a good laugh about it.
Hey man, your content is pure gold! I just bought a kayak yesterday and I’ve avoided her maiden voyage because I was afraid to ask anyone how to launch. I appreciate you!
It's felt a little odd all these years, using Bass for Catfish bait. But after the morbid baby Ducky thing I feel quite normal. Great Video. Im a fan for life, Brother. Fellow Tennessee Patriot here!
Nice vid! Getting in and out from the side with the kayak is probably the best way to get in/out of a kayak. I have pulled the front straight into the bank before and walk off. Really wobbly, but the other people at the dock will get a good laugh if you do it that way.. haha
Thanks for the instructional video. I always prep my kayak in the parking lot sense the launch area I go to is always busy w/ bass & pontoon boats. There's always the one pontoon boat that takes for ever so I just go off to the side and launch from the shore 👍🏻🎣
Great tutorial. As a 'newbie' looking to pick up my first yak from the store this weekend I've been pondering a good technique for getting in and out of it on a slip and after watching loads of vids this week on this subject, your demo makes perfect, uncomplicated sense and I'm all for simple. Liked and subbed.
I'm new to kayaks period but my girlfriend got me a new fishing kayak being new. I'm so excited for any information so thank you for your help and I'm definitely subscribing to your channel I have a sun beam is 12 ft anything I can learn from you is a plus thanks again Jeff Sebastian
been kayaking for a number of years, cannot say I have ever seen it done that way. If you own a kayak that is not as wide as his, don't be surprised if it doesn't work out.
Solid video, Chad! However, the hardest part of kayak fishing is the LOADING to return home. Getting a YAK off a trailer or truck bed is going downward. Can you shoot a lesson video out that offers tips on loading into a truck bed for the return trip? I have an ATAK140 and a Solo Skiff and the skiff, at 150 lbs is a little challenging to get into the truck at 63 years old. Keep puttin out the good work my friend!
Awesome tips. I’ve been looking into getting a kayak and now I feel I won’t be that guy. I am a boat owner and I really appreciate you mentioning not to block the launch ramp, I come across that way too often, either kayakers or jet skiers, and man jet skiers are the worst. Please don’t get me wrong, I’ve also seen more kayakers launching from the side of the ramp, which is also much safer for everyone at the launch ramp.
pink mist thanks bro. I find it annoying that the video is 10 1/2 minutes long and dude takes 75% of the time bullshitting. Just show the launch bro lol
Great tip Chad thanks for the video. I couldn't imagine seeing someone walking from bow to seat.. the way you did it is the way I do it and maybe cause it just seems to be the safest way if your taking request on videos maybe you could talk about using a depth finder. maybe a quick setup and some how to read info would be great. . again thanks for all you do for the sport
You really let me down , I only learned 10 things lol. I grew up in the boat biz and taught launching Fountain, Cigarette and Cobalts owners. Turns out I’m not so knowledgeable about my new plastic passion. I have some antique wooden baby duck lures I bet you know how that ends lmao, thanks for sharing these solid tips Brother. Over.
Hi Chad. I am in the middle of the learning phase of Kayak Fishing and have been watching many of your videos. You mentioned on this one that you're on Old Hickory. I am Corps Ranger at J. Percy Priest. Maybe I'll see you on the water!
Sir - I've just recently purchased my first yak, an watched a ton of your videos to help me make a decision. That being said, I'd really love to see a video, walking through transducer/graph installation, on an SS127. Can you help a brother out?
Neighbor! I live in Lebanon, TN and go to Old Hickory Lake all the time! Getting ready to purchase my first fishing Kayak, but I do have a Bass Tracker that I have out on the water on occasion.
I sure wish more people werent that guy. I cant tell you how many times Ive had to wait for people to move out of the way at a boat ramp. I mean really you dont park right in the way and then sit there for 15 or 20 minutes goofing around getting all your stuff out of your truck while other people are trying to either get on or off the water.
Went through this last week. Nice guy, but totally out to lunch. Took at least 20 minutes of our time. Spread all over the one ramp that had room for 2 rigs. New kayak and first time out with friends and their new kayaks. He chatted away, fiddled around, de-aired his raft, checked with his mom-in-law...…… We did not say anything, just patiently waited...next time it happens, I WILL say something. Some people have the awareness of a river rock! Can't really complain as I let it happen..... By the way, thanks for the video...now I can be more graceful getting in and out!
So helpful man. Thank you!! Getting into kayak fishing soon here in Florida.. Always wondered how it was done and NOT BE THAT GUY ha!! Just subscribed to the channel brother
if only more people wherent being that guy the world would be a bit more beautifull. its not just a kayak lesson, its a nice life lesson. Greetings from the netherlands.
Yeah, I agree AG. I don’t want to see any baby ducks get eaten; but the video was great. I got on a kayak last month for the first time and I probably looked like a Blue Whale ice skating. I sat down while half out of the water and tried to skooch my kayak backwards in to the water. Anyway, I really enjoyed the video (cept for the poor baby ducks).
Put it on the ramp. Park the truck. Get all your rods and tackle on the kayak. Give it a shove, run down the dock next to it and JUMP! Works every time.
Yes i have entertained people down at the boat ramp ha ha i'm an old bloke who has fished from a boat all his life but these bloody kayaks are differant but you will be pleased to learn i am getting better at it
Personally I think carting to the water should be an implemented rule. Too many guys try to trailer launch, and eventually it's going to cause an injury at one of the larger events with small ramps. Not only that 3-4 guys can launch by carting vs the one dude taking up the entire launch area. Not saying trailering should go away either, but park like everyone else, prep, and make your way to the water... Unless they're Handicap, or are incapable for other reasons to cart, I'd understand the use of trailer in that case, this would be a simple thing to follow.
As i am getting more involved in local tournament fishing i would really like to know about the types of clothing you guys wear during your typical fishing season??? Do you "Layer"??? Do you wear a Wet Suit ???
I back my trailer right in the water and deploy the yak. I don't need to get out of the way of bigger boats. They can wait their turn like everyone else does.
So…how did you get the kayak to the water after you unloaded from trailer? Did you drag it on that rough concrete? Or did your camera guy help carry it to the water? If you dragged it how hard is that on the bottom? Also, what if you are launching from a dock? Any tips on getting on and off kayak at a dock? Thanks for all the great content you produce!
I just dragged it. Check out my video where I dragged my kayak 15.2 miles behind the truck. Trust me, they can take it. For docks, I just stand up, come along side the dock and then turn sideways and sit down. Then I sit on the dock, put my feet in the kayak and slide in for launching from a dock.
Hey Chad. Do you have a video on launching a kayak from a steep bank in deep water? I am in Eastern NC and a lot of our creeks have basically deep shore lines and you can not anchor your kayak next to the shoreline like you do in this video. I'm a BIG Dude and I use the Jackson Big Rig. Can you help?
I'm a larger fellow myself, and I find getting in that shallow my weight sinks The Kayak to the ground. I wade in to my knees and just step in and sit. I'd prefer your method though however like I said the boat will sink down a few inches when you step in it.
Chad what type of Locking system for kayaks do you use ? Would like to stay in hotels , but I don't like leaving kayaks out of eye sight . I use cable locks as of now , just not sure if it's the best system
New subscriber here sir, I’m also in TN near Murfreesboro. How do you like the Ss127? I’m looking at one now. Had the Feel Free Seastream 120 came up with 2 cracks so they warranted it out. Now looking for something stable and durable.
matt marshall just depends on the type of fishing you are doing. But yes, I highly recommend the Bonafide. The Flint is a great boat at the price point with a lot of features. The Frontier is great for gear capacity.
Hey Chad! Thanks for all your videos and amazing work. I’m on the market for kayak. I have my eyes on the bonafide ss127...but they just released the ss107. Which bonafide should I buy??? I live in Chattanooga TN and the main lakes a fish on...chickamauga lake and guntersville lake. Which SS will be better for those lakes?? Thank you!
Chad Hoover thank you! I don’t know anything about kayaks hehe it will be my first kayak. I’ll be going to the waterpalooza Demofest at Caney Fork Outdoors in silver point TN May 12th. to check them out. Again, thank you!

Chad, I’m a big guy..a senior and pretty much a beginner. I am looking at a Feeffree Moken 10 v2. Would like your input on this and any other input you might have. Thanks
Awesome... me being a member of the "NOT twig man" club appreciate the info. But what I really love is your trailer! PLEASE tell me you made it and it didn't cost $3,546.00 ! Thanks.
Chad, Great rundown, it always amazes me when I get to a launch and the looks I get from the other #KayakAnglers who have never seen me get my platform ready to launch almost like the look you gave me down at #Bienville LOL.. But once I get everything set up it's pretty much the same except that I keep my paddle leash attached to my Yak and push it off and pull the #385FTA back in parallel to the launch step in adjust my traducer arm remove the leash and I'm off. When I return I just paddle up on the launch step out go get my cart pull the Yak up to the ride and the disassembly happens.
Great and informative video. Did you drag your kayak down to the water after unloading it from your trailer? I'm concerned that the bottom of the kayak could get damaged during that process. Please keep in mind that I have never been in a kayak so I'm a total newbie. My husband bought me one for Christmas and therefore starting from scratch.
Where is the part where you drag the yak on the concrete ramp from where you unload it to the water? This may work on small kayaks but not on a Pro Angler 14.

I was one that asked for this on Facebook. Thank you for taking the time to make it. Thank you for listening to what a lot of us wanted.
weedsnager thanks for the support and suggestions!
Starting with the etiquette is on point!
Thank you
Great instructional video Chad. Yep i'm that guy that ended up in the water just trying to get out of my kayak. We all start somewhere. Hope you been having fun!
Thank you sir. I have an updated video on how to launch as well, be sure to check that one out
I’m a new kayaker and also a big guy and I love and appreciate the lesson on launching my kayak this has been be very helpful thank you very much.

I love that trailer !
You know you don’t think about it till you watch someone do it. Great stuff. Keep it coming
chris aguirre will do, thanks!
Great simple tips. My son and I are going kayaking this weekend so I learned a bunch from you! Thnx!
Appreciate you making the comment about ramp etiquette. So many times I went to a boat ramp to launch my boat and kayakers are blocking the ramp.
Nice vid! Getting in and out from the side with the kayak is probably the best way to get in/out of a kayak. I have pulled the front straight into the bank before and walk off. Really wobbly, but the other people at the dock will get a good laugh if you do it that way.. haha

😜

I will have a kayak this year. Just got into fishing and I absolutely love it.
Bought a nice pedal kayak today and thought “I should probably learn to launch this before going out blind” lol thanks, subbed to you 👍🏽
Thanks! I’m redoing this video soon and covering pedal drive kayaks too.
Chad Hoover awesome!! I’ll be on the look out for that one!

Kyle, thanks very helpful. I am just starting out. Been fly fishing a couple of years and just got a Pelican 120.
Overall a very cool boat. Wanted a sit on top so I waited until I found this deal!
Great to know you are located in my area. Gallatin, TN!! Just purchased my 127 last week from Hook1! Cant wait to try it out!
This video really helped, that kind of life jacket is that it look really nice
been kayaking for a number of years, cannot say I have ever seen it done that way. If you own a kayak that is not as wide as his, don't be surprised if it doesn't work out.
seems easier then launching my sit in style. im a sit in and "shimmy" till im fully floating. or push with the paddle.
Great tips for those of us that are new to kayaking.

Tanner Scheer done deal!
Paddle bag, we spent maybe 3 hundred on ours so Don't want them getting broken, another great video BTW
Watching a snapping turtle take out a canada goose is even better!
Neighbor! I live in Lebanon, TN and go to Old Hickory Lake all the time! Getting ready to purchase my first fishing Kayak, but I do have a Bass Tracker that I have out on the water on occasion.
Thanks so much for the info and love your kayak set up,simple and to the point.
actual info starts at 7:30... otherwise, great info/vid... seems easy, but as a noob, i had no idea either! thanks again brother
Good information. I just order a titan13.5 today. It will be my first fishing kayak and I was wondering about launching and getting out of it.
what kind of kayak trailer do you use?
Chad....thx for the tip. Will come in handy.....today I just a bought a 2020 Jackson kayak Bite FD
I sure wish more people werent that guy. I cant tell you how many times Ive had to wait for people to move out of the way at a boat ramp. I learned to stay away from the boat ramps because of the stupidity of some people. Gotta love the yaks where you can launch virtually from anywhere.
So helpful man. Thank you!! Getting into kayak fishing soon here in Florida.. Always wondered how it was done and NOT BE THAT GUY ha!! Just subscribed to the channel brother
Thank you. I appreciate the sub. Glad you like the content.
if only more people wherent being that guy the world would be a bit more beautifull. its not just a kayak lesson, its a nice life lesson. Greetings from the netherlands.
That baby duck thing is kinda disturbing... Nice video besides that lol
Yeah, ikr. I had no idea bass ate baby ducks.
Obviously you've never experienced the exhilaration of a baby duck being devoured by a monster bass.
AG Creations welcome to nature!
A northern pikes delicacy hehe
Put it on the ramp. Park the truck. Get all your rods and tackle on the kayak. Give it a shove, run down the dock next to it and JUMP! Works every time.
Haha works like a charm!
I would like to know more about this trailer. Very helpful instructional video. Thank you!
I would absolutely love to see a reentry in your kayak by you! in deep water! Lol! I'm a big guy as well and wouldn't attempt it.
Just check out my channel, i have that video on here a couple times
Yes i have entertained people down at the boat ramp ha ha i'm an old bloke who has fished from a boat all his life but these bloody kayaks are differant but you will be pleased to learn i am getting better at it

Thought you were going to say the only thing better than a giant bass smashing a baby duck is when it smashes your lure LOL.
Cool
Then that’s just how to back down a trailer
So…how did you get the kayak to the water after you unloaded from trailer? Did you drag it on that rough concrete? Or did your camera guy help carry it to the water? I just dragged it. Check out my video where I dragged my kayak 15.2 miles behind the truck. Trust me, they can take it.
For docks, I just stand up, come along side the dock and then turn sideways and sit down. Then I sit on the dock, put my feet in the kayak and slide in for launching from a dock.
ruclips.net/video/RmhdBuPkR_c/видео.html
Can you tell me about the trailer shown in vid? THANKS NICE VID.
It’s the 78” Rack and Roll from Yakima
Been looking for a new anchor and was wondering what weight downrigger ball you use on yours?
3 or 5 pounds depending on the conditions
Awesome thanks
I like the trailer. May have the name of it or a link to where I may buy one?
Thanks, Launching next week for the first time.
Yes, let me see if I can find a link. If not, we will be reshooting that on my next trip when I go through Maryland and West Virginia
Hey Chad, great video. What is that thing clipped onto your left PFD strap at the top? Rectangle box with something sticking out of it?
Great video and thank you for your hard work. May I ask about that trailer in this video. It looks great for me what is it?
@7:40, how does the kayak get into the water from the side of the boat ramp?
You drag it
Thank you very much for sharing this! Big dudes like me appreciate it.
I'm a larger fellow myself, and I find getting in that shallow my weight sinks The Kayak to the ground. I wade in to my knees and just step in and sit. I'd prefer your method though however like I said the boat will sink down a few inches when you step in it.
Great video I need a trailer like yours😁
Chad what type of Locking system for kayaks do you use ? Would like to stay in hotels , but I don't like leaving kayaks out of eye sight . I use cable locks as of now , just not sure if it's the best system
Dave Hughes I use the Yeti cooler cable locks through the scuppers sometimes and most of the time I use the Yakima Ripcord locking straps.
New subscriber here sir, I’m also in TN near Murfreesboro. How do you like the Ss127? I’m looking at one now. Had the Feel Free Seastream 120 came up with 2 cracks so they warranted it out. Now looking for something stable and durable.
I’m in Alabama now, but we are still close. Be sure to check out the BONAFIDE lineup as you are considering a new boat
I use the sit down method but now you have me wanting to try the stand up method
Just subbed to your channel, great topic. My question is I am a big guy as well what brand of PFD would you recommend?
Charles Breen .
Don't be that guy that enjoys seeing baby ducks being eaten.
ok new to kayak fishing.. thinking about a nucanoe frontier 10 or flint or would you recommend bonafide kayak's ?
matt marshall just depends on the type of fishing you are doing. But yes, I highly recommend the Bonafide. The Flint is a great boat at the price point with a lot of features. The Frontier is great for gear capacity.
would like something that is stable enough to stand and sight fishing and fly fish on ? any recommendations?
Thank you!
Alex Galván get the SS127. If you are fishing bigger lakes it’s a no brainer in my opinion.
Chad Hoover thank you! I don’t know anything about kayaks hehe it will be my first kayak. I’ll be going to the waterpalooza Demofest at Caney Fork Outdoors in silver point TN May 12th. to check them out. Again, thank you!
Hahabsa, nothing more entertaining than watching a bass eat a baby ducking. No wait there is, watching him eat 2 or 3. Hahaha!!!
Go to 7:25, that’s when he somewhat starts talking about dropping the kayak.
Thank you
Thanks Brotha! 👊
👊🏻
Hello

Interesting...for me part of the allure of kayak fishing is the ability to put in pretty much anywhere, so I avoid boat ramps like the plague...but to each their own.
I just bought my first kayak and this is gonna help. I live in La Vergne, TN and am learning how to not be that guy. Thanks.
Fox Fyre hey i live in smyrna
Chad,
I’m a big guy..a senior and pretty much a beginner. I am looking at a Feeffree Moken 10 v2. Would like your input on this and any other input you might have.
Thanks
Awesome, thank you Chad.
Awesome... me being a member of the "NOT twig man" club appreciate the info. But what I really love is your trailer! PLEASE tell me you made it and it didn't cost $3,546.00 ! Thanks.
I didn’t make it and it didn’t cost $3,546 dollars. It was a bit more than that…. 😜
LOVE IT !... The wheels and what looks like light weight frame is awesome.
Chad,
Great rundown, it always amazes me when I get to a launch and the looks I get from the other #KayakAnglers who have never seen me get my platform ready to launch almost like the look you gave me down at #Bienville LOL.. When I return I just paddle up on the launch step out go get my cart pull the Yak up to the ride and the disassembly happens.
Good video. Sideways launch is definitely the way to go, even when I don’t put in at a boat ramp. BTW what kind of trailer are you using?
vistapony YAKIMA Rack and Roll
Curious about the down rigger ball as an anchor... What weight do you recommend as a minimum? And how do they compare to other actual anchor designs?
Im a skinny guy so i just step on the bow and jump into the seat. This vid is good advice for the big guys
Do you have a website where I can buy a trailer exactly like the one shown in this video? U.S. Army, Ret. TX

Thanks for the video!!!!
You are welcome. Thanks for watching
Where is the part where you drag the yak on the concrete ramp from where you unload it to the water? This may work on small kayaks but not on a Pro Angler 14.
I need a version of this for a sketchy jon boat
Ha!! I think I can do that... LOL
My kayak scratches bad when I drag it. any recommendations for undercoatings?
You could get a cart for it to roll on
ive been waiting for this! Thanks!
