I know absolutely nothing about fixing electronics, however I do know a lot about the repair business and the construction business. I like the way you did your job you did it step by step by process of elimination and you found the problem. Then you fixed the problem and I noticed you made sure that there was no subsequent problems that could show up down the road. That in my book is called integrity. I'm glad to see a person in your field that takes pride in their work and does a thorough and honest job. I bet your business is doing very well, I bet you do quality work at a fair price. Being a fair and honest business person no matter what business you have will create a business with longevity and profitability

A reason the crud will cause the problem is that the feedback circuit is high impedance 548k is up there. More a vacuum tube circuit value. My guess was that they did not want the feedback circuit need a lot of current to function . Nice video.

The magnet on the fan was a bit odd. I can't help but wonder since it booted OK with it on, if maybe it was somehow causing EMF to surge? Magnets can alter electrical current flow, and stray magnets should usually be kept away from sensitive electronics.

Sir I have macbook air 1466 , and it has issue before no power cpu fan also not working. Now one of the shop , they have repaired,but now processor over heating. Please help me what could be the issue? Note : currently no thermal paste on the heat sink.
I have a air laptop 1466 is dead. I pulled a hdmi connector adapter after watch to my TV. Then poof dead. Everytime I plug the power it create a high speed fan and can't boot up at all. Now shall I replace the locks board and should fix right anything am I missing?

Fair point. You may have to go back a year or more to find some of his repair videos where he actually uses the ultrasonic cleaner (beware the ASMR noise).

... not to mention how many times he has talked about whether to pronounce it as "pepe-bus" or "pee-pee-bus". 2-3 years back (maybe even more), those were instant chuckle moments in his repair videos.

Ditto! a1466 with intermittent lack of power on or green light, even cuts out intermittently. Not fixing myself though. it'll be on its way to NY shortly.

Hello, I have a MacBook Air model A1466, and it has been experiencing the following issue. It runs normally at an average temperature of 65 to 70 degrees Celsius, both the CPU and GPU, but suddenly, after about 40 to 50 minutes of use, it shuts down and won't turn on again in any way. The only way I can get it to turn on is by disconnecting the battery and leaving it disconnected for at least 24 hours. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect it immediately, it also doesn't work. I've tried taking it to a few places, but here in Brazil, nobody seems to be able to fix it. I've watched your videos and studied the electrical diagram a bit, but I can't figure out what it might be. Another relevant detail is that before this problem occurred, I was using a charger with frayed and exposed wires, so there may have been a short circuit. Could you please provide some guidance? Any ideas on what kind of tests I could perform on the motherboard? So sorry to bother you, but your help is my last hope! 😬

Computer is trolling you at the beginning. I know one time that i kept on taking my computer up to Best Buy to get it looked at but the problem didn’t happen. I had to take it up there 5 times before it happen it was so simple they fixed it didn’t even charge me anything can’t remember what was the issue. I know i was to young and hadn’t came interested in computers yet. It was a hp desktop

Hey Louis, how can I become more involved with right to repair? I live in Lexington, KY and it seems so far away from the places that are actually taking part in this conversation. I've thought about starting my own repair business here, but I know that's going to require a lot of time, learning, and money. Not to say that I'm not willing to put in any of that, but I'm not sure that it should be my first move so early in life (I'm 19). The Right to Repair: This looks very much like a technology disruption. I remember growing up we had TV and radio repair shops then VCR repair shops. Everything as a service is what happens in this new digital disruption. The experts call it dematerialization. You don't get something repaired because you don't own it anymore. I'm afraid that laptops will suffer the same fate as stagecoaches, black and white TVs, VCRs, DVD players and countless other obsolete technologies of the past.
