Go to Amazon, don’t go to Michael’s. Many craft glitters will bleed when used with polish or gel. I do resin work and the glitters I use work great for nails as well.
Also, when encapsulating with base coat, you can add a thicker coat of the base coat, then flip the nails upside down for about 15 seconds before curing. It helps pull the gel over the glitter a bit more, and keeps it from pooling around the sides too much. I do that any time I'm encapsulating glitter, even fine glitter, and I have to do very little buffing afterwards and I only have to do 1 layer of base coat sometimes, depending on how careful I was at laying the glitters. I swear, that 15 seconds has saved me SO much time and hand pain from buffing. Not even kidding. It also gives me a little more hope that I won't buff too far into the base coat and end up buffing the color off of the glitter because a lot of colored glitters are dyed and I've ruined a lot of nails by buffing off the color without realizing it until I was top coating. 😂
Hi hun! I was so upset I am just seeing this ❤❤❤❤ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS SET right now, and missed my darn notification at the time of your video! I cannot express how grateful I am for all of the tips and tricks that you gave in this video (and of course your other videos well). Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise of what you learned throughout the years because it tremendously helped me. I was having such problems with encapsulation, especially because I work with gel polish too. Thank you so much❣❣❣
I use a lot of glitters from Michael's and Hobby Lobby, but I've also used WM, Dollar Tree and Dollar General glitters as well. I've never had an issue with WM, DT or DG glitter, but I absolutely love glitters from Michael's and Hobby Lobby because you get A LOT for the price, the selection and color options is awesome and they are beautiful in general. I've also never had an issue using either glitter with any kind of gel, not even builder gel. I always go straight to the glitter and/or crystal section in both stores. My husband hates taking me in both of them. 😂 Also, these nails came out SO freaking stunning and sexy!!!!!! 😍
You can totally use crafy store, dollar store, cheap as crap glitter. Just try to keep in mind, you get what you pay for. 1st off those kind are not solid color, there silver painted red or blue etc. So if you have to thin coat of gel over top, and file through, your glitter is going silver. Also, what they use to shine that glitter isn't that great, so your shine and spark won't be great. Your top coat helps, but it can't add sparkle if its not already there. Now - higher end glitter is color through and through, they've cut for maximum shine or sparkle, and add special reflective coatings etc. All sorts of things that take more time and cost more money. So, ya - you gotta pay a bit more for them. Then there are those companies that just want as much as they can get. Over charge, over their over prices stuff. I usually find this kind of company has a mid grade product. Its better than the crap, but not as good as the topline stuff. They show their's in comparison to the crap, and hope you don't notice, its not high end. They usually pick a name close to a high end companies name, also hoping for you to be confused. Unfortunately, they get us sometimes... They also do things like provide a sale that's to good to be true... lol So do your research, look at reviews, you'll tend to learn who the best around. Then, wait for the sale... Everyone has one at sometime, usually if you bookmark it or add it to a wish list, you'll get notified of a sale.... I love the part - my husband hates taking me there... lol Mine used to say, I was the only person he knew who could drop 200. In a dollar store... They should put tool stores next to craft stores... 😊
I cannot speak for Val, but I have done this, and have seen many other techs do it too. Especially with that super big gem, because it just wants to slide and turn. Knowing that in advance they only put gel/glue in that one spot, put on stone, and then into light. After add more glue and onto smaller stones, the big one that is frozen in place, can help hold the next gems your adding into place. Hope that help 😊
