I'll miss SoD sm, been nearly a decade since this silly game came out and I've been with it since 2015, I hope the people who worked with Jumpstart are well after all this ends and that they'll move on eventually and get other good jobs, breaks my heart to see such a wonderful and childhood game go but I suppose it's not gonna change, but it's ok
kinda sad how jumpstart kept SoD which is technically speaking a walking corpse of a game for so long even if it brought them to loss for this long state of the game (and company) aside, its admirable to see both the people who were making and playing this game still go so far
You also got to realize what about the other two games. How much money did they contribute to the final cost of running this studio? I think at the end of the day if they just got rid of math blaster and magic myths and sold off neopets too netdragon. They would probably still be around next week.
I do want to say that you, Silver, were the reason I started playing SOD. It was an honor playing the game and realizing all the perks and flaws of the game. I'm 18 now and it's been since 2014 since I've followed your channel. It's sad that a lot of things from my childhood are dying out, but change is something that has to happen for a better future. I want to thank you for introducing me to the game in 2014, and that I'm thankful for being a part of a great community.
I literally cried when I first saw the shutdown message. I was there for its final moments too. I finally got the dragon I always wanted, a Stormcutter I named Stormtracker, and I didn’t get much time with her. I’ll miss this beautiful mess of a game that was my entire childhood made whole.
I just hope a game with a similar concept gets made in the future, with a company that has the resources to make it great, then losing this wouldn't feel like such a loss. I'll always miss this game, it was amazing while it lasted!
its pretty sad honestly. first club penguin, now sod. its really sad to see some of my very favourite games gone. i spent so much on these games and it breaks my heart a lot. i hope someday, some great person, revives this. i just hope.
It sucks that it's shutting down but we're just going to have to suck it up and accept it. Nothing can be done. I'm glad I got into the game when I did. it helped me through a lot even if it could have been better. Goodbye School of Dragons.
Either suck it up and accept it or get a time machine go back in time, and persuade them just to sell neopets to netdragon and shut down magic myths and math blaster. I'm sure school of dragon was actually making enough money to be able to support itself, but not enough to support other two unprofitable games
Wow, I just... ouch. I played JumpStart's own branded MMO for hours as a kid. Learning they made SoD a few years ago made me so excited, but hearing this really just hits me in the gut twice.
School of Dragons has been an amazing experience for me since the day I installed it, it got me through some hectic times in my life, it was an entire world for me to escape to when I was under deep depression and now the game is coming to an end same as the original series of HTTYD, we raised, we trained, we rode and bonded with our own amazing dragons, we have created our own stories in the world HTTYD, our dragons are as real as they could be, in our minds and hearts and now it's time to say goodbye to them like Hiccup had to say goodbye to Toothless. To my First Dragon I ever trained, Moonstar, a Flightmare, a paralyzing but beautiful and gentle creature, she was my first dragon I learned to fly with and fight hunters with. She was a real aggressive missy, but she was still a loyal and good dragon. To my First Dragon I hatched from an egg, learned to raise and care for up until adulthood, Starnight, a Deadly Nadder, deadly and sharp, but still had a soft spot and shared fondness of chicken, (luckily not Tuffnut's chicken) During the winters, she made the most soothing campfire, especially on our journeys to Icestorm Island where we rescued a baby Groncicle. Lastly to my main and chosen Dragon, who I bought and rescued from one of Viggo's Auctions as a cold stone egg, who I spent day and night on, keeping warm and patiently waiting to hatch, until he did by the next electrical storm, brought to life by the power of lightning, he hatched as a dark and blind baby Skrill, smaller than any other Skrill, frail and fragile, but I never lost hope with, I've played with, fed and raised, bonded and formed the deepest connection with than any other dragon, who grew up from a tiny hatchling to the biggest Titan Wing of his kind. We won many races, fought and defeated foes, discovered and learned many things. Because of you I became an Ultimate Dragon Trainer and I even became the best version of myself. I raised you and trained you and now I hang up my saddle and set you free. Goodbye Spartin.
I am really moved by your story, based on your description I can feel how many hearts and efforts you devoted for this particular relationship. I dare say your adventures even surpassed what the writers of Dragons: The Nine Realms had been shoved down people's throats. This kind of development you made throughout the game is what makes a great story that I'm more interested to dig into and am so eager to see more of it. It is the pure passion that makes anything meaningful, and I wish some particular groups could take notes on this form you.
This is extremely upsetting that these poor employees were forced into terrible management. Poor things didn’t have the best software to create games and had to reuse things into other games. I feel bad that Jumpstart wasn’t doing great with funding but I knew this day would come eventually. Goodbye SoD and other games that were part of our childhood. At least neopets is still going to be alive, I know that’s a signature classic.
I guess for me, the biggest two reasons I’m upset is nostalgia, and the fact that it’s the closest we’ve gotten to an open world, free roam HTTYD game that I’ve been hoping would be made and just never was. I understand why it’s shutting down and I agree, it’s been on a downhill slope for a long while, but it still saddens me a bit that the game never really reached the potential it could’ve (and that it’s not like they’re just going to stop updating it, but that it’s getting taken down entirely)
There is a silver lining to these events, this will show many many many great creators how much the HTTYD community want and open-world httyd game that allows you to train your own dragons of your own choosing with numerous options to choose from. So maybe, someday in the future, we will get a game like School of Dragons.
My dream right there, also it would be nice if you were in danger the dragons could save your ass or if you falling from the sky the dragon also save your ass
I’m never usually the one to leave comments like this, but wow. Hearing that jumpstart isn’t going to exist anymore after school of dragons shuts down really stung, I never played their other games, but seeing their branding was always so nostalgic too me. School of dragons, neopets and just the logo in general. I will miss both school of dragons and jumpstart
I liked this game, the main thing I’ll miss is the flying and dragon customization. It’s sad but I guess it’s been a long time coming. I do kind of wish they could have kept the offline capabilities and just shut down the MMO though
This game was a massive part of my childhood and I’m sad to see it go, was a great ride fellow dragon riders, hopefully we can see each other again in another game sometime in the future.
I was anoied that they didnt give a reason beforehand but now that an employee has given a reason, i understand why they'er shutting down, its still sad but the reason why it's understandable Thank you for informing us of this silver
Thank you for telling us, Silver. I'd heard bits and pieces floating around, but I'm glad to hear the full situation summarized. SoD was janky and honestly not always very fun, but I'm gonna miss that goofy old game, and JumpStart in general.
i like to think that everyone released their dragons into the hidden world to live in peace from people like grimmel/etc. despite that idea i will miss SoD . .
This is one of my childhood games, it honestly hurts to see it closing down. I absolutely loved the game and still do, the graphics never bothered me, neither did the bugs. The company doesn't deserve this at all.
This is really breaking my heart, SoD takes a huge part of my childhood. I remember playing it every day with my best friend and my cousins. I remember listening to Httyd soundtrack while flying around the maps as fast as possible. Ill really miss this game.
I had a Rumblehorn named Demolishor, a Sword Stealer named Scavenger, a trio of Deadly Nadders named Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker, a Monstrous Nightmare named Comet, a Gronkle named Rampage, a Scauldron named Tidalwave, a Skrill named Blitzwing, a Deathgripper named Scorpion, a Armorwing named Ironhide, a Deathly Galeslash named Ra (after the Egyptian god and yellowish gold sort of color he had), a Devilish Dervish named Scrapper, a Buffalord named Longhaul, and many others, I miss my dragons a lot.
It sucks as someone who just recently was able to get into this game. There is no other game that is like this. Silver I am sorry that this game has caused you at least going to you as much torment as it has! You were the RUclipsr that convinced me to start my journey in the first place. thank you for that!
I hate that the game is shutting down personally, because i remember how it made me feel when i first played it the first dragon i got to be a titan, i understand for anyone who hates it but it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Honestly I feel pretty indifferent about the game shutting down at this point. The game hadn't done well in a while, and while there were good things it was far outweighed by the bad. I'm more just disappointed that there's no HTTYD games to take its place, none of them feel the same. Wild Skies was the best we had and that's been dead for a very long time. The Nine Realms continues to be trash and I can only hope the live action does well, then maybe one day we'll get a good HTTYD game... Or the franchise goes out with a whimper. Who knows? #ReleaseTheFireTides
Well there is also a "httyd2 the game" apparently. I like it a lot more than wild skyes. It's got no story, but a pretty big map to fly around in. It's actually been a lot of the same feeling I got from sod. Well in terms of free flight and characters anyway. (I've been using a Wii emulator to play on pc)
Goodbye Artemis. Artemis was my Dreadstrider, a Flightmare/Speedstinger hybrid and was my absolute favourite dragon. I loved this game, even though I didn't play it much. I never got to say goodbye to my dragons as I didn't know it was shutting down until my sister decided to boot up the game and, well, couldn't get in. Idk why, but ice storm island was my favourite island. And that part behind the school with the ice pond was a nice place to chill and fish. I think Artemis was the basic blue color but I sadly can't remember, maybe light blue? Overall this is sad to see, as this game was part of not only mine, but everyone's childhood. Goodbye SoD, and Artemis may you live on without me, or any of us humans.
I’ve been playing School of Dragons for a long time and, it’s sad that it is closing down. I’m gonna miss the game, all my dragons, all the quest, and the events that come once a year. Rip School of Dragons.
I owned like 72 dragons... I used to whatch your videos all the time, I loved being able to have your own dragons, hatch em, upgrade em. All types of dragons. My favorites were sentinel, my first deadly Nader, that big purple and orange dragon, bone Knapper, and that one dragon that's red and black and is seen in the hidden world. I'll miss this game...
Cant believe we all have to reinact the third movie. Ive been with it from the beginning and im sad to see it go. Made a lot of happy memories, met quite a few friends, and hatched some amazing dragons. And im gonna be going on one last flight with all of my dragons while I still can.
I heard a SoD rewritten is in the works by a group of fans though!! if you know the short-lived game Feral, it’s by the same fans who successfully revived that game as EmuFeral
The game is still running. I have posted several times about this but maybe no one reads the comments. You will have to scroll down through the comments and find out how to access the game. Everything, right now, is free.
I created a channel to post everything I can from the account I have in SoD, I've been playing with it since 2017 and I was close to doing all the quests and getting all the dragons I wanted without spending a penny of real money, until that came the announcement of the end of the game and I started to record everything I can before the end, a kind of time capsule, I'm going to record my last mission in the game and all the dragons and items that I won, it's the first game which I feel I have become very good at.
I'm going to miss SOD because I've been playing this game for 8 years, and I did use money to get gems and become a member. Hate to see it shutdown. I'll also miss the dragons that I've raised for all these years
This game was my childhood and so was u I haven't played it in ages and I just heard the news that is shut down sod is so nostalgic to me and no game will top it off the happiness i felt everytime I played it or watching your gameplays it really was an amazing journey
maybe, just MAYBE all of this sadness about the end of the game will be enough to spark some motivation to make a new game, similar to, or based off of SoD in the future, no matter how distant it may be, i will wait for the next game
The song together from afar (from httyd 3 end credits) is like made for this bc Its about letting go ect (came to mind bc piano version if it played at the end of the vid)

I remember when I was 7 and I was playing this game on my dad’s old phone. I was flying on my Sandwraith, happy. I asked my dad fro membership, and I loved it. I remember all the friends on it. I remember flying around on the Lightfury and all I could feel was joy. I just can’t believe that its shutting down. That the company is no longer going to exist. Everything I’ve loved on that game, even though it didn’t have the best graphics or quality or even story to be honest, but it still stole my heart. I will always remember those childhood memories.
I remember playing this game relentlessly when I was little. Then it became progressively more greedy and less fun to play. Sucks to see it go down, but it was inevitable.
This game was one of my childhood pieces. I played it since release when I was 6 years old. I had 90% of dragons and skins. But it all came to an end. Now here I am almost graduating. This is bit of a heartbreak for me, but I guess this was expectable But this is the 2nd time somethign liek this happened, first with club penguin, now this. Hopefully the game will be rebooted like club penguin
people have made new fanmade servers for similar mmo games like moshi monsters and club penguin but considering that sod is tied to an existing ip, if a new server is made by fans there’s a chance dreamworks would go after them sadly.
This is not the entire reason neopets had a privacy issues and it led to lawsuit against jumpstart and its a pretty big and expensive lawsuit polygon made a detailed article about it
I didn't know it got shutdown, and went on playstore a few minutes ago and saw it wasn't there, im heartbroken rn because all my dragons are gone and I'll never see them again 😭😭😭
It sucks how this game is going to shut down soon and I've grown attached to this game and all the stuff I got on this game its very unfortunate and I hope that there will be a new how to train your dragon game just like this but with better management, better funding and on a better platform
This whole situation is so sad. I really wish some platform could just lift SoD off of Jumpstart and continue it. SoD is so nostalgic and now that’s it’s shutting down is so sad.
It is quite sad. I’m gonna miss Firespitter, he was my best friend. Too bad they wouldn’t sell the old schoolhouse to Hasbro, they actually still have a Dreamworks license, so it wouldn’t be too hard to imagine them making the old girl work. After all, back in the day, Hasbro had its own line of PC games, including the famous Tonka series. Come to think of it, back in the day, Jumpstart used to be a titan in the childrens edu-tainment industry, what with characters like Hopsalot, Frankie, CJ/Edison, and of course Botly. It really is a shame to see an old titan wing fall, but I suppose it is natural. “Natural” in the sense that with political extremists pushing for women to forgo motherhood, even outright demonizing it, that means there are less kids, and no kids means no childrens edu-tainment industry, and without that, Jumpstart has no reason to exist. It is sad how the mighty have fallen. Just plain sad. Given how in Jumpstart’s prime back in the 90’s no one would ever have suspected that there would one day be a war on kids. Just, sad. Anyways, I’m typing this on my tablet, and it needs charging, so I’m gonna go. Rockatoa, Brickticks out!

Although it’s been around for a long time i would guess it would be the case but if there’s a miracle in the works then I hope it’s soon i know It won’t be sod but maybe something similar but with key differences that even jumpstart didn’t even try.
So the one I should be mad at is not jumpstart is what I’m understanding but the awful net dragon ppl for getting rid of this game and making ppl waste over $20,000 on SoD…great.

I’ve been with sod for years I was always so happy to get a dragon. I only had three at the start of whispering death, a deadly Nader and a rumble horn. I’ve bothered with them so much. That them leaving made me cry 💔
Unpaid server licence? Not enough funds? Honestly the best thing that can happen to SoD would be if NeoDragon or some other company buys it, and gets employees on it, nothing else
and just the cherry ontop, the source code for the game is so spaghetti, AND built on such outdated, ancient and unstable software, (which is why there are some bugs that stood around for years) that transferring development into this new company wouldve been proven really difficult as well. its just a lot of negatives for the company to keep the game rather than to let it die unfortunately
A new mod came out to minecraft called Isle of Berk, its still very new and in development but i do recommend playing it with a few other mods if you miss School of Dragons :D

@kyenarinn2991rise of berk is a turn based game it's not like SoD, SoD is open world and it's fun and any game can't replace SoD it made alot of people's child hood mine and my brothers my brother and I used to have so much fun Playing SoD on our crappy phone but it was fun it was nice knowing ya SoD we'll miss the master piece of a game
@kyenarinn2991 the other games aren't like SoD
I loved SOD but didn't realise just how much...I too took a break from it but right when I started it got shut down. It's like they said, all good things must slowly come to an end...
The worst part of it all is this sense of finality. It's not a small patch, it's not a break, it's an definitive end.
And who knows if there can be a remake like for Club Penguin, since it might not have had as many fans as CP :(
I'll miss SoD sm, been nearly a decade since this silly game came out and I've been with it since 2015, I hope the people who worked with Jumpstart are well after all this ends and that they'll move on eventually and get other good jobs, breaks my heart to see such a wonderful and childhood game go but I suppose it's not gonna change, but it's ok
I've been playing it since it first came out
kinda sad how jumpstart kept SoD which is technically speaking a walking corpse of a game for so long even if it brought them to loss for this long
state of the game (and company) aside, its admirable to see both the people who were making and playing this game still go so far
You also got to realize what about the other two games.
How much money did they contribute to the final cost of running this studio?
I think at the end of the day if they just got rid of math blaster and magic myths and sold off neopets too netdragon.
They would probably still be around next week.
I’ll stick with the franchise till the very end and hope the unnecessary live live action movie will be good.

Sorry for your loss
I just hope a game with a similar concept gets made in the future, with a company that has the resources to make it great, then losing this wouldn't feel like such a loss. I'll always miss this game, it was amazing while it lasted!
is hasn't to be the same but any game about httyd would be great. There is nothing right now except this garbage game from the new series
HTTYD had a unique art style and dragon designs that'll never leave my memory though.
its pretty sad honestly.
first club penguin, now sod. its really sad to see some of my very favourite games gone.
i spent so much on these games and it breaks my heart a lot.
i hope someday, some great person, revives this.
i just hope.
Agreed I hope one day a company with better funds and management can recreate this wonderful game as it serves as a nostalgic flashback for me

@defenderbryhild4645 i am aware but in that one
Everything is free and nothing exclusive tbh
Glad I at least got the chance to play School of Dragons before it shuts down!
You really sound like someone after my own heart. This is exactly my story with SOD, except my dragons' names were obviously different lol
@@ching-jungyang62 thank u so much.
It was my childhood game so it’s so sad to see it go, but a the same time, im glad I was there to experience such a cool game.
I had a feeling this was the case. It’s sad to see it end like this but I hope everyone who was involved are free to do bigger and better things.
I was anoied that they didnt give a reason beforehand but now that an employee has given a reason, i understand why they'er shutting down, its still sad but the reason why it's understandable
Thank you for informing us of this silver
Thank you for telling us, Silver. I'd heard bits and pieces floating around, but I'm glad to hear the full situation summarized. SoD was janky and honestly not always very fun, but I'm gonna miss that goofy old game, and JumpStart in general.
i like to think that everyone released their dragons into the hidden world to live in peace from people like grimmel/etc. despite that idea i will miss SoD . .
Aw thats definitely a nice way to think about it
"Now that Neopets is officially mine and I no longer have any attachment to you... _I don't need you around._ "
-NetDragon to JumpStart, probably.
Please keep your School of Dragons videos up. The game may be gone, but having your SoD videos up can keep the memory going
So sad to see it go 😔
I hate that the game is shutting down personally, because i remember how it made me feel when i first played it the first dragon i got to be a titan, i understand for anyone who hates it but it will always hold a special place in my heart.
I’m gonna miss me riding a skrill, but they never got the true speed right because they are way faster than what the game thought it was.
Most likely the franchise will disappear. She already started to do it and it hurts, remembering how it was real life as a child
There is anothe rgame called "Rise of Berk"
I used to love going to the water fall and jumping off with out my dragon and before I fell to call my dragon and make it look like he saved me
SAME 😭
If only I was a game developer… I would take this game off their hands in a heart beat! This game has potential still, it makes me sad.
Yeaaaah... I hope you have the money for that, plus money for the contract

I heard a SoD rewritten is in the works by a group of fans though!! if you know the short-lived game Feral, it’s by the same fans who successfully revived that game as EmuFeral
why didn't they just sell school of dragons to another company???? I'm sure someone would've been interested. :((
The game is still running.
I'll also miss the dragons that I've raised for all these years
I miss watching her when I was younger I wanted to re download it but when I saw it’s gone I was so sad
I'm glad I brought all of my favorite Dragons and interact with them before it gonna shuts down

This is bit of a heartbreak for me, but I guess this was expectable
But this is the 2nd time somethign liek this happened, first with club penguin, now this. Hopefully the game will be rebooted like club penguin
I wish somebody would upload the code for the game onto public domain or just onto the internet so somebody else can copy and pasted improve
people have made new fanmade servers for similar mmo games like moshi monsters and club penguin but considering that sod is tied to an existing ip, if a new server is made by fans there’s a chance dreamworks would go after them sadly.
This is not the entire reason neopets had a privacy issues and it led to lawsuit against jumpstart and its a pretty big and expensive lawsuit polygon made a detailed article about it
I am sorry for that. Can`t Jumpstart sell SoD to other company? it would be great
They just can’t. It’s such a broken game.

yo tambien
I sad school of dragons is going down i played when i was a kid and wanted to get back into it and now i cant so im very sad about this but congrats to you and them ig

Although it’s been around for a long time i would guess it would be the case but if there’s a miracle in the works then I hope it’s soon i know It won’t be sod but maybe something similar but with key differences that even jumpstart didn’t even try.
I just downloaded it yesterday after having it deleted for a while and I just found out it’s getting deleted today 😢
So the one I should be mad at is not jumpstart is what I’m understanding but the awful net dragon ppl for getting rid of this game and making ppl waste over $20,000 on SoD…great.

Honestly the best thing that can happen to SoD would be if NeoDragon or some other company buys it, and gets employees on it, nothing else

I love how she said the game would never return for us to figure out that a third party company has made a complete copy of the game
and just the cherry ontop, the source code for the game is so spaghetti, AND built on such outdated, ancient and unstable software, (which is why there are some bugs that stood around for years) that transferring development into this new company wouldve been proven really difficult as well. its just a lot of negatives for the company to keep the game rather than to let it die unfortunately
