Luisa needs more hugs.
Agreed.
Yup
Lol
I volunteer!
Sure do
Okay but being able to bring up a piano all by herself despite her gift waning is still quite impressive.
I mean she's still got muscles for days, even if she lost her gift completely, she'd still be stronger than the average person :)
Ikr?? I was like "woah she's still doing that?"
@@jayleemittens9858 why couldn’t she lift the vase in “we don’t talk about bruno” then 😂
@@friedsyshi she'd just started and had no momentum. and like the piano, she was dragging it. maybe?
I'm confused, when she lose her gift, she's just strong as normal people but when she had her gift, she's hyperbolically strong as superman?
She's not a crybaby. She's just a young lady under a lot of stress. ❤
I think all that crying really helped her release all that stress cuz she was carrying so much not just physically but emotionally and mentally.
Yep. Really wish the person would have used a different word. Like the whole point of her character is that it's ok to relax and cry sometimes. Saying she's being a crybaby is like saying it's not ok to show emotion.
@@kaylee.w6970 thank you this is how I felt seeing it
Agreed. But I think the poster may have actually been sarcastic with the title. Note how "cry baby" is in quotes?
Yes :)
The height difference between Mirabel and Luisa is surprising
Luisa is 19. Mirabel is 15. But you're right, they're way different.
How tall is Luisa?
Muscular people tend to be very big and wide
@Moonfur actually isn't Isabela like 21 or 22? Luisa is the middle child
@Moonfur actually, the age order of the Madrigal grandkids goes something like this: Isabela and Dolores: 22 (Dolores is a few months younger than Isa), Luisa: 19, Camilo and Mirabel: 15 (Camilo is older by a few months), and lastly Antonio: 5
I love how Augustn ran to Luisa after that messy family dinner.
Best father ever
Best father of the year award 👏
Dude loves and protects his daughters equally and fairly. Gotta love the guy like legits hes such a great father to his daughters.
I cried thinking about that. Accident-prone dad chasing after his strong capable daughter because she is having an emotional meltdown and he is her dad just warmed my whole soul. [Edited for clarity.]

their father is amazing...i hope for more character interaction if there will be a second movie
With how popular it is, that wouldn't be surprising. It'll get something, a sequel, a TV series, or at least a few shorts.
@@jaysonjackson3455 it is getting a tv show
@@gmailhmmm2850 good.
I love their dad so much
@@jaysonjackson3455 Honestly if they just released shorts it would be frekin enough for me. I just want to see more family interaction :')
You forgot one part when in the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” while Mirabel is piecing all the green glass together Luisa is crying right beside her with all the other family members as they’re dancing and singing
So I'm not the only one who noticed it!
She is dancing along her family even tho she didn’t have a verse in “We don’t talk about Bruno”
oh gosh that was hilarious
@@yesplease6399 It's also messed up that the family doesn't see that she's hurting as well.
She didn't have a verse in We don't talk about Bruno.
I felt soo bad for Luisa when her gift is gone
Why? It’s a good thing, it’s taking off the heavy load off
@@bigpulgalokes I really think you should reevaluate her situation
She got used and was pressured to be always strong and then she suddenly feels weak is terrible. Just like she says, she feels useless when she's not at service.
@@catsballs9657 okay but should be have put her worth back being used as just a worker? It would only make her feel worse. Realizing that they, the villagers only cared about her because of her gift and not her. Taking away the gift is giving her time to not only relax but find herself as more than just her gift and find people who love her for her and don’t expect things from her.
@@bigpulgalokes But did you see her eye twitch again as soon as Maribel said "You're more than just your gift?" It's still a process for Luisa to relax and to actually let go.
I don't see her as a crybaby. She's just sensitive.
She’s not even sensitive. It was very reasonable for her to cry at that time.
@@azurecoombs4568 true.
Well she’s not sensitive, it’s just people expecting too much on her
I think I've an explanation for this coming from personal and observed experiences once someone how is being strong for many others finally stops after saying how they feel it gets abit hard to stop the emotions you constantly repress kind of like taking a log out of a dam then the whole dam collapses
@@thats.cringe Yeah I know the feeling usually I'm quiet but the year my mother got diagnosed with breast cancer and my ex friends told me she'd probably just die and gave me a hard time those months I cried a lot at home and unfortunately sometimes on campus b/c everything hurt so much so yeah I know how it goes from holding it all in being indifferent until one day your world is crashing down and people who you thought could depend on dismiss your humanity and validity as a person
1:32 Luisa’s face when Mirabel tells her she’s more than just her gift 💕😭. She went from singing about feeling worthless if she couldn’t be of service to the community to not feeling ashamed for wanting to take a break. She’s so underrated ❤️

This title is an injustice disgrace to Luisa.
It should be, “Emotional breakdowns after years of role stress and societal/family pressure”
Ya there’s a lot of Surface Pressure ayyy
It says "cry baby" in quotes for a reason. It's not that deep.
Also that long ass title is boring. We all love Luisa.
Not making the title a whole harry potter book either
One of the most fascinating technical details of this movie to me is the clothes. If you look, all of the shirts/skirts/dresses stretch and move with the character’s actions.
I love that too! The individual strands of fabric you can see in certain shots (like the yarn used for the pink butterfly on Mirabel’s top, near her shoulder) is AMAZING to me. It blows my mind how far we've come with 3D animated films in the 27 years since Toy Story!
They animation the cloths on a different model from the face and the body. So it looks better
The skirts also look like they have real weight behind them, as the girls dance and twirl, and just move around. And being able to put weight behind an animation is always impressive.
1:13 luisa's "wahhh im a loser" part never fails to make me laugh 🤣🤣 (im sorry luisa)

Q
That “wahhh im a loser” line is one of the greatest line deliveries ive ever seen. Its sad and hilarious
Fun fact: That line wasn't scripted! Jess Darrow improv'd that line. They directors loved it, so they kept it. Also, the scene in which Mirabel goes to find Bruno's room, where she says to the toucan "Well, at least I've got a friend, and nope, you fly away immediately" was also made up on the spot
0:23 the pouty face she makes after saying weak is the most precious thing and makes my heart melt. This poor girl needs more than one hug.
This whole thing happened because the family likes to have his own scape goat, first it was Bruno now Mirabel. God damnit, She gets talked down from hugging her sisters
@TJ And Maribel called her out on it
If it wasn't for mirabel it would definitely be Pepa she was definitely next in line to be cast out
I realized Luisa never scapegoated Mirabel thorough the movie
@@rhythmicmusicswap4173 That's because Maribel actually checked up on Luisa, and Luisa gave Maribel clues about what was going on in the house.
@@rhythmicmusicswap4173 luisa looks more of the type of just putting in on herself and fix stuff alone, than blaming others
The super subtle change in expression on Luisa's face at 1:34 when Mirabel tells her she's more than just her gift is literally such an amazing piece of animation. You can really see that she NEEDED to hear that from her family. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
Same
1:02 can we acknowledge the fact that, despite her gift being on the fritz if not gone, she's still strong enough to move an Upright Grand Piano from what was presumably upstairs all the way to the kitchen by herself. Note that an average Upright Grand can weigh between 480 to 600 POUNDS.
Yeah. Her gift isn't working right, but she still has huge muscles
0:24, i can't she's too adorable 😭😭
Her arms. They're so detailed 😍
The way she closes her eyes tight after sayin Weak like its a taboo...its too cute
I like when Mirabel hugs her. Their height difference makes it cute
She´s absolutely not a crybaby, she´s literally just having emotions and displaying it for once.
Shes not a crybaby shes just normal. Just because shes looks masculine doesnt mean she shouldnt cry.
Isabela and Luisa’s powers were the most used in building the town so I can understand why they were the ones who always had the biggest expectations. Not saying the others were any less important because they did a lot too. It just seems like Luisa and Isabel weren’t allowed to goof off or show their emotions a lot as much as the others.
Isabella's gift is being pretty and growing flowers... how's that helping the community?
@@lenawagenfuehr53 well later we find out she’s able to grow not just flowers, but other plants as well. Meaning her power could be extremely useful. I mean Isabela could help decorate and she was also going to help the family by getting married to have more gifted children. Isabela was doing a lot and now that she knows she can do more than grown roses she is extremely useful. She could help raise crops and help her mother be able to make more food to heal people.
@@lenawagenfuehr53 She was expected to be the perfect doll who was always well put together. She was even going to marry a man that she didn't even love, so who knows what else she acquiesced to without really wanting to. She had attitude problems, sure, but she was just as much a victim as Luisa and Mirabel under Abuela's expectations.
@@lenawagenfuehr53 beautification of the community is still a service. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone saw her as the village beauty (that seems to be a thing in rural towns across the world) and there’s expectations that comes with that role.
Especially with the fact Mirabel was "giftless"they probably felt they have to compensate
I love how they made Luisa strong but also gave her character depth. She is not just strong she also shows she is loving, caring but can also be crying and be scared and feel vulnerable.
Ok so Isabela may have her, well, differences with Mirabel, but she looks so genuinely concerned for Luisa during the dinner. Like when she's asked to bring the piano, Isa looks sadly at Luisa when she walks off crying. It's kinda cute.
Her look wasn't sad, her face was like a mix of disgust and confusion
@@ahacks7692 tru cuz like after when luisa brought the piano in and cried, her face was genuinely annoyed and confused
I think it's meant on 0:57
It's cuz luisa got along with her but mirabel didn't, I suppose?
I like her soo much. She doesn't display toxic masculinity and toxic feminism. That's a big plus on my like list.
Toxic feminism uh?

@@themysticwarriorgal9465 That as in her character isn't focused on being better than men
@@LucasSantos-ss6ou that's not feminism tho
@@themysticwarriorgal9465 toxic feminism is like that
I love how they gave her a soft side instead of a pure "im clearly buff and i am banned from crying" look
I bet dolores was kinda relieved when she lost her gift because then she didn't hear everyone and she could be in peace
It was also probably a little bit scary. Having hearing that fine, to lose that ability must’ve been almost like going deaf until she got used to it
She can control what she hears I'm sure though
@@mannyoftheeast3318 Nope, it's super hearing, all the time. In the scene where the people were waiting outside to shout "congratulations" when they yelled it she was the only one who covered her ears. It probably means that everything is infinitesimally louder and clearer for her. She can choose to ignore it but can probably still hear legit EVERYTHING.
It's really refreshing to see a character like her. All female body types are different, and they're all beautiful.
They had to fight to make her burly. The studio wanted a slim Barbie doll!
And plus she's not some whiny misandrist either. She's just a physically strong female that likes to help others.

And caught Alma when the house threw them out
She’s a 19 year old who doesn’t want to let anyone down and have been doing this one job since she was 4. Honestly her reaction is normal
The way Mirabel walks to hug Luisa is so wholesome!
I like this moment too. Their height difference makes it cute
My theory on why Luisa was losing her power so noticeably was cuz her power was stressing her the most. So while everyone in the family was falling apart, she was in the most pain so she was most affected.
I like how Luisa looks very masculine in apparence but in personality she seems really feminine, sensitive and relatable
She's just huge. Never seen a really muscular woman?
@@nathanarcher2221 Then you've never googled it lmao.
I don't think she looks that masculine, her outfit overall is pretty traditionally feminine and her face does have some soft, rounder features imo, and all that's not "traditionally" feminine is her body type
@@silvergust I legitimately want to find adult costume of her outfit. (I know that's not the point but damn)
Lol and u r too stereotypical. Do u mean that men can't be sensitive and relatable?
In "we don't talk about Bruno" she's also crying in the background while everyone sings 😂
I love how Mirabel and Augustin have her back
Luisa after her song just casually trying to break Mirabel's spine...☠️☠️☠️ U can hear her bones cracking...
Wow I just realized that Luisa's rant at 0:40 specifically outlines what Abuela was concerned with (her losing her powers after taking to Mirabel), then tuned her out, immediately followed by what Mirabel was concerned with (how Luisa was feeling). That really succinctly showed the real problem within the family.
Please don't call her a cry baby, she went through years of forcing herself to hold onto all the burdens and now she feel like she can't hold any, she thinks she's let the family down. And thus started to have a mental meltdown. It's incredibly rude to her and people like her to be called a "Cry baby"
Its an animation wahh wahh, nobody cares
@@Wafting_enthusiast yes it is just an animation, but there are real life people who go through this sort of thing too, obviously without the power part, so it's just disrespectful to call someone having a fucking mental breakdown a "cry baby"
@@Wafting_enthusiast I do, what you gonna do about it?
@@EvelynFoxieLyrics Its an animation stop making it so serious its suppose to be funny not depressing

Luisa is so sweet to Mirabel. I was sad when Luisa showed her tiredness🥺
The irony is: it doesn't seem to have occurred to anyone to ask Antonio to tell the donkeys to go home
I've never thought of that and it's genius.
I feel like it was because he was still a little kid and Alma didn't want to put him to work just yet.
Don't forget, that one little snippet from the we don't talk about Bruno song at the end when everyone's dancing and Luisa's sorta just sulking along behind and cries at the end~
Note how she only starts feeling weaker at 0:35 when she felt even more pressure from being behind in work. She was already faltering from normal pressure, but having the additional pressure completely cracked her mental and her powers fizzled out.
Edit: Should also probably mention that her mental afterwards is just a falling elevator at that point; the more she realizes that she's becoming weaker and less useful, the weaker she becomes, and so on. Domino effect is terrible.
This is literally me in a nut shell. Not a beef cake like this lovely lady but the anxiety is dead on and how it just spirals farther and farther out.

I like her character!
I identify SO much with Luisa. Strength, meltdowns, and all. I freaking love this character.
Luisa needs a vacay stat!!! Somebody write a Disney short where Luisa finally gets her dream vacation. She comes back from it refreshed and happy. Maybe the townsfolk and her family struggled slightly without her but they end up saying they will do it again if she really needs a break. Rather what is most important is that they help each other. Which helps Luisa to take it easy a bit more often but still be of service. And the townsfolk learn to be a bit more independent from her but appreciate her more for the service she provides when she helps. A sorta happy ever after. Plus I need a Disney short of Bruno re-adjusting to his life being out in the open. Trying to find ways to help his family and the town again. The People and his family supporting him and his visions. He learns he can rely on people and his once gift again. They learn to better understand him as a person as well as his gift in what it truly is. Maybe a moment about Mirano and Delores just to check up on them and ensure they are alright.
In her room, there's an amusement park, where she can ride a rollercoaster and enjoy herself
0:26 It's almost scary how fast she just puts on a mask again
I'd wear a mask with a smile for hours at a time stare at the ceiling while I hold back what's on my mind and when they ask me how I'm doing I say I'm doing just fine
for some reason i get "the strong youngest" vibes from her
and yes ik she is middle child
wait, luisa's middle? i thought she's the oldest because of all the "carrying everyone's burden" metaphor to indicate that she has to be the most responsible as the oldest child
