The Creed Taylor productions from the early nineteen-seventies were really wonderfully produced and the vast stable of musicians who would show up on each others LP's was a lot of fun to keep track of. This is a beautiful piece of work. Love.
Thank you, Bob Wood. You have an interesting selection of Jazz and other surprising vinyl recordings. Don’t stop doing what you’re doing. It’s wonderful.
Stunningly beautiful! I have this "Concierto de Aranjuez", but on the Miles Davis "Sketches of Spain", which is great, but i gotta say that i love this version. 😍 Thanks Bob!
@@MusicAndVinyl For sure. My vote for his best album is Pure Desmond from '74. But his best solo was his last - on Mr Shuck 'n Jive - song by A. Garfunkel on his Watermark album in '77. Was just before he passed away. Pure beauty. A haunting solo if there ever was one.
@@MusicAndVinyl Paul Desmond is my favorite jazz musician. Please upload his work, if you have any. +1 for Pure Desmond, my favorite of his recordings.
Thank you for uploading. This is the cleanest and highest quality available for these record on youtube. I wander what it sound like in real life to listen to your player
It sounds great "live" ! I first got this album on CD, which in comparison to the vinyl is totally flat and lifeless. Quite a shocking difference really.
Bob, you have done it again…out on my patio, with a nice cabernet, listening to the ‘greats’…who could ask for more….maybe some Gerry Mulligan - K4 Pacific?
Hi Bob, Played this through this morning and thought I really must get this. Then at the back of my mind I thought 'have I got this in CD form' ? After a bit of a search I located a copy in a box set of 'Jazz Collections' . This just goes to show I haven't got a clue what I have got! Anyway, it's on the vinyl shopping list. Thank you for jogging my memory. Excellent choice. Regards Nigel
Familiar with quite a few renderings of this work....other than straight orchestral ones I know MJQ (Space (LP, Album) Apple Records SAPCOR 10 UK) and of course Miles on Sketches of Spain... this I quite like too..... you can't keep a good tune down. Is this a remix BTW? Or just a repressing?
Yes, this is the Pure Pleasure reissue. The only other copy I've heard is a CD issue which is as dull as dishwater by comparison. I can't really comment on other releases as I haven't heard them. But personally, I think having the album spread out over more sides gives a chance for better sound quality.
Am i totally off base or does this have kind of a 60s French Pop Groove to it? I love this record totally different than the classical or Miles revisions. Love this piece in all it's incarnations. Love the looks of that Cart as well.
Thanks for your comments. I can't say I'd ever thought about this having a 60s French pop groove before, but it's definitely one of my favourite jazz records. And, yes, the retro looks of the SPU are quite appealing aren't they?
Romantic on every level, and easily the best version of this track in existence.
No idea who Jim Hall is - just dropped by here to check out the Ortofon SPU. And stayed. Hours ago. In total awe...!
Jim Hall - one of THE great jazz guitar players, here with a group of superstars. An album I never tire of - and one the SPU loves as well!
ジムホール,ローランドハナ、チェットベーカー、ホールデスモンド、ロンカーター最高の演奏ですよね!

There's no getting around how great this sounds.... an excellent live version ....
thanks for posting the vinyl recording. Jim, my husband, would be really pleased. Miles wanted to take lessons with Jim.
I thank God for giving us talents like your Maestro JH🙏💗
Gran video, gran vinilo, para un gran equipo. Gracias miles
Miles did it, and it’s nice to hear Jim Hall’s interpretation of this Roderigo classic. Many thanks.👍🇬🇧🌞👍
Stunningly beautiful!

MrVinylObsessive rumor has it that Rodrigo himself hated Miles’ version, but loved the royalties he got because Sketches of Spain sold very well ;-)
Paul Desmond's solo is just exquisite
He was great alto player! With such a smooth velvety sound too.

@@desmondism I will add some Paul Desmond to my list for future videos ;o)
Guys... what's about the piano ??... Roland is perfect
I'm back! I had to hear it again, so beautiful...
I missed your earlier comment, Rui - yes the Miles Davis is great, but this one with Jim Hall, Paul Desmond and Chet Baker is my favourite.
Every member of the group is legend of his own right👍 many thanks Mr BW for this and many of your uploads🙏
Thanks for your comments. Yes, this album has a stellar lineup!
Such a beautiful album.
Der Dialog zwischen der Trompete und dem Saxophon klingt echt intim und perfekt synchronisiert. Die präzise Reproduktion ist auch bewundernswert!
I love this rig, from the vinyl, to the cartridge, the tonearm, turntable, & preamp. Literally everything. I'm a bit jelly.

A rare sight - moving coil! Thanks Bob...
You’re an inspiration Bob. I’ve just polished my platter rim on my Sonab 67s and it looks brilliant...
Very nice and so relaxing, many thanks for the upload, another album to add to my want and must have list, many thanks Bob
You're welcome, Peter! I'm pleased you like it.
Magnifico!

Indeed. This is one of my all-time favourite jazz albums!

Thanks for your comment! I do have K4 Pacific but only on CD unfortunately.
Thanks for a still dream classic . Fire proof !!! Dream on lovers ......
ガットがとにかくいい
that was beautiful!
great. music played by great artest.
Very nice, his music brings to my mind Gabor Szabo somehow..
Классно, спасибо. Проигрыватель очень крутой. Thanks..🤗
Спасибо за ваш комментарий! Я рада, что тебе это нравится!
The TT reminds me of the Optonica RP3500. They look rather similar in size and the granite top layer.
Flippin Chet Baker.
❤❤❤
Concierto, Rodrigo je notoricky známá věc. To zná snad každý.

It's good isn't it? This is a Pure Pleasure release BTW. I don't know if it's still available.
It is according to their web-site at £29.99. And I have seen it after a web-search for an awful lot more! I shall keep it on the short-list for now.

Have just twigged who the saxophonist is..... they don't make 'em like that any more...
Paul Desmond was one of the great altoists!
Is this the 2006 reissue on 2 discs? If so, I'm not sure I like it when they do that. What do you think would be the best single disc pressing to get?

Sounds like Paul Desmond on Sax
Absolutely right, and with Chet Baker on trumpet too. Jazz royalty!

One record Plyar gave me sir I thanks to you
Too slow, and irritating background strumming.
with all due respect, Steve Gadd is the wrong drummer for this record.
That's why you are SIMP.....
I have to disagree with you sir, in my humble opinion, Steve Gadd is never the wrong drummer.
Ooooh thats gonna be a disagree from me, dawg
I purchased this album BECAUSE Steve Gadd was the drummer. The master of brushes.
