I just have a cheap coin pouch that I think is cute, zips and fits my cards etc. I got it to fit in my small crossbody bag that had no zipper pocket on the inside that could hold my cards. I just went through my coin pouch and pulled out unnecessary papers and cards. I now carry my disabled son's debit card, his government food card, my government food card, my driver's license, my debit card, a coffee shop gift card, some coins and a single dose eye drops. I loved this video! ❤

In my wallet: cash sometimes. Debit card, ID card, library card, Plussa card (for cheap food offers), Gift card. Banking paperwork for payments. Bundle for movie tickets. Barbershop discount card. I also have one card in my phone case, it is Silja Line card, but I do not need it. It is just in case I go Sweden ever again on that cruise. It gives some offers here. Bus card in it's own thing.

Quite similar. I have debit card, health insurance card, health care card, medicare card and license. And, money. I don't have children so don't have to worry about that. In Australia, you don't have a separate card for your children, all their details are kept under your file, so you only need the one card.

I keep these in my wallet :-
    ▪︎ All sorts of cash notes (500, 200, 100, 50, 20 and 10 ruppees) and coins (5, 2 and 1 ruppees)
    ▪︎ Debit card
▪︎ Driving license (it also works as my ID card)
    ▪︎ 4-5 passport-sized photos
    ▪︎ My father's shop's visiting card
    ▪︎ White blank paper pieces
    ▪︎ Some sticky notes
    ▪︎ Band-aid (ICE)
    ▪︎ Safety pin (needle)
    ▪︎ A shaving blade (maybe I need to cut someone's throat... 😂)
Still I feel like its very slim 😅☺️😅

I think what you carry is very reasonable and suits your lifestyle. I carry my ID/driver's license, debit card from my bank, my health insurance card, two store rewards cards for the grocery stores I shop from most frequently and my library card. I no longer carry the library card because my local library is closed because of the Covid-19 virus. I will sometimes carry cash and coins but I'd rather use my bank card for most purchases.

Have very similar things in my
wallet Lia. VIP is my SBB GA,
    Bank card, Krankenkasse card,
Swiss ID. Only carry others when
needed on my day to day grading
about. For my credit card and
phone I just use prepaid. Costs
a bit when I pay money into my
prepaid card (only use it for long
trips.) Like a prepaid phone purely
as I cannot stand a monthly surcharge for 24 months with
Swisscom. To me it is like a debt.
    Live totally debt free, minimally
but very happily. But as you know
Swiss life is very safe and easy.

Thanks for sharing! I invested in a nice quality wallet about 12 years ago and it is still going strong, though it does look well used after all these years, that doesn’t bother me. I used to have a few extra membership cards (like for visiting national trust gardens, botanic gardens etc) but it really bothered me that they would send a new plastic card every year when the membership got renewed 🤯 I’ve been meaning to cancel those for ages, and since the pandemic many places have been closed anyway, so I’ve finally got rid of most of those. Also I find in these COVID times I hardly go to any actual shops or take public transport, so I mainly leave my wallet at home (unless I know I’m going to be needing it). So it’s useful to know all my cards are kept in one place, but I don’t carry them around all the time 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  3 года назад +3

That sounds like a good quality wallet! I have to admit that I have some membership cards lying around here as well... I really do have to cancel them (mostly from shops and they don't cost anything but it Is annoying and they send me paper advertising clutter...)

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit my "wallet" is a sturdy transparent plastic slip, like a pocket I guess? It was supposed to protect my ID from getting dirty but over time it just became my wallet, since I hate wallets-they're so bulky, especially women's wallets, with so many unnecessary pockets.
I keep my ID, health insurance card with my doctor and family's phone numbers written on a post-it note stuck on its back, blood donor card, library card, one metro ticket and one museum ticket, both with significance for me, and some folded bills, and the plastic slip is super thin compared to a wallet. I don't think I need these on a daily basis, but that's what I keep there, and if I ever need anything more I add it on a case by case basis, and if it's too big to fit the slip, I just put it in my lightweight backpack that I carry everywhere anyway instead of a purse.

    Another novel from me. :)
I always like to follow along and see how what I have compares to yours. My wallet is actually woven hemp. It got left in my car after COVID hit and I wasn't driving (I'm in the US - COVID is still raging here). I hadn't left the house between March and October, when I took a new kitten to the vet. Where I live is humid and the poor thing actually got moldy over the summer. It's also worn. But my son bought it for me like seven years ago so I'm reluctant to get rid of it. Edit: I washed it and it appears to have survived :) I'll now try to mend it once it's dry.
I like that you have cards from different countries. Europe seems relatively cozy compared to the US. We're just - us.
I went through it and took out some non-essential cards. The only thing I have that you don't aside from kid's stuff since mine is 26 and has his own wallet is my blood donor card with my blood type. It's a rare type so I feel it's important to have that. Also some business cards for things like towing and the Chinese buffet loyalty card in case life ever returns to normal here. Important stuff :) We have no public transportation where I live so nothing for that. I have my driver's license, a debit card, no cash and insurance a single card. It's a pretty bare wallet.
Edit to add: I am a practitioner of magick so there were two money spells and a sigil hidden away inside. I found them before I washed the wallet, which was a good thing ;)

Since most of them still want to give me something I am always happy to receive some chocolate or tea or other eatable things I can use up. I also like to get books for the same reason. Once I am done reading them I will just put them in an open, public bookshelf where other people can take and read them. I also made a video about that topic a few months ago where I showed everything I got for my birthday and talked a but more about that topic. That could maybe be helpful And also the comments in that video where you can read about a lot of solutions people found for themselves and their family ☺

How did you cut out the card dividers fabric without it falling apart…?

Lia, you only carry a debit card. What would you do if someone had to steal your wallet? Do you at least have another bank account with a debit card you don't carry with you? It's concerning to have a lot of cash accessible through a debit card that cannot be blocked/frozen. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi :)
You mentioned your wallet is leather. Did you mean real or not?
    I hope not 😊

Looks pretty real to me. Also, Germans are known for being matter of fact and honest. If it wasn't a real leather wallet, Lia would have said that.

Yes, it is real leather. But I got it from my grandma over ten years ago. After all, it has kept up very well, and throwing it away just because it is real leather would cause more harm to animals and the planet than just keeping it and using it as long as possible. Also, I have to say that I don't believe in petroleum-derived leather alternatives since those mostly are not as durable and pollute the environment a lot. Of course, I am happy to see more and more vegan alternatives that are actually sustainable but I think there are so many factors when It comes to choosing the best material for something like a wallet, so there are different solutions to this problem depending on the values that are most important to you.

In The Netherlands, they can find us "in the system", so I didn't renew my Health Insurance card anymore. Maybe is the same in Germany?
