Osijek, Croatia: Learn about the tragic legend of the Chapel of the Cross

Osijek is a small city with many stories to discover, and one of them takes us to the chapel of the stone cross better known as the chapel of unfortunate loves, local legend has it that there lived a story of impossible love being the Croatian version of Romeo and Juliet, whose love could not have a happy ending.
This story later originated pilgrimages to the place of people seeking fortune and of course love.
In the chapel there have also been historical events such as the union of the urban settlements of the town called: Tvrđa, Gornje grad and Donje grad in a common municipality.
These and more stories are told in this chapel which despite the time is the only one that remains the same in a relatively new area of Osijek.
