I have been saying this for about five years maybe a little less. We are in the social media untalented era. I tell people all the time the industry has embraced mediocrity, and the people have bought into it. Talon is no longer popular. They don’t want talent and that’s crazy. We the people have to take it back from the industry and restructure, because I can’t in this untalented era all the music almost all of it is garbage from the new artist that are coming in. And with that they have ushered in laziness and everybody wants to feature from Nicki Minaj and Auto to try to cultivate her Fanbase. And they have to do that because they’re so lazy that they can’t do it on their own because you would have to organically grow it a fan base and they don’t want to do that they want fast they want instantaneous fame they want social media fame, but what they don’t realize is social media fame does not last it’s not real
I definitely agree with the nicki clip for sure. for example, i would say a prime example of a “popular artist”, as much as i love her, is ice spice. the looks, the body, the shorter songs, the cute one one liners, etc. i love ice spice as much as the next person, but she does fit the “popular” narrative. as far as actual rap talent goes…. i mean, you tell me. she fits the description that nicki was saying to the tee. and i guess i do find it interesting that nicki was very quick to hop on the features/collab with ice spice, since nicki constantly reiterates genuine rap talent and the “no ghost writers” for female rap. part of me does think that nicki wants to gain a lil something from the new era of the “popular” world of music while at the same time dissing it. btw i am a barb so plz chill barbz.
Facts 💯 I was wondering why Nicki worked with Ice Spice which career is based on popularity. Even tho Ice Spice has a unique music style and all, her lyrics is not that good. I would have never think she was the type of female rapper with who Nicki would work. But I think that Nicki only worked with her because she saw something genuine in Ice Spice. Nicki always said she want to work with people who gives her good energies and even if I think Ice Spice is not that talented she is a down to earth person and is smart and genuine. I think this is why Nicki wanted to collab with her

funny wayne brought her up... wayne is example of the facts she is speaking.... I been about a bag 'cause all I wanted was to be a G. Nicki talk those bars!
The big problem with the industry's current model is that popularity can only last so long when you're not talented. Sooner or later, people will grow tired of the gimmicks. So to any creative out there, please don't take shortcuts. Don't chase clout. Don't compromise your artistic talent to be a flavour of the week. The long road to organic success is VERY long but nothing in life worth having comes easy. Stay diligent and keep your head up.
"Talent" in itself is a very relative word.... I would argue that the fans of alot of the artist that some might consider less or not talented, feel like they can't do what that artist does. And for THEM those artist are talented. Also what we are missing is that "popular" artist tend to not sell many records cause their popularity exceeds the product they are selling. They want to SEE you, not hear your music. Which is something thats been discussed on this channel a bit with failing sales, and record labels with popular artist collecting dust when it comes to sales.... The issue is we seem to think this is affecting artist who we consider "talented" and its not. Kendrick, Cole, Nikki, etc.... still move units rather they are in the spot light or not. And I think for artist like Nikki, they desire to have more popularity based on their talent and popularity typically doesn’t work that way specially not today.
This may be true, but the problem is there are many talented artists struggling and not being able to break on their own because labels put artists that are popular for their antics instead of their music at the forefront. Current new artists don’t get better and up and coming artists don’t get endorsed or signed. There are artists that rap on a professional level that are shelved or ignored while artists that do silly shit online go to the mainstream.
Today billboard released an article, saying pushing a song is labels job..they are bitter tht their payola is less effective on the hot100, or rather… radio100 chart.
nicki was definitely spitting in that video. but i think it’s interesting in hindsight because ain’t she the main one backing up ice spice? where’s her talent? or is nicki only doing this for because of ice’s popularity?

The ironic thing about it is that the artists (mostly rappers as that's who I pay the most attention to) who got in the industry due to popularity, but that popularity doesn't translate to sales and revenue.
Labels used to seek talented artists, sign em, and help them blow up. Now labels seek what is blowing up on social media, and sign em hoping they would bring in the bucks. Sad.
Record labels are just fucking up hip hop it’s such a shame They’re taking money home that’s all that matters same with radio stations It stopped being about the music
I think it’s because a lot of artists are coming through apps like SoundCloud, RUclips, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. and people look at those artist look at the amount of popularity they getting and sending to pick up Abu because they’re popular on social media if you look, and I suppose the way, the chica popular, who is not because of talent, it was because of RUclips and TikTok, and she has become popular by the millions ever since the same thing was 6ix9ine the way he got famous was because he was it meme before becoming an artist I don’t have a problem with that I like to call social media artist because things change things evolve over time nothing is going to stay the same forever it’s just you have to be careful on how you do it
one rapper who i saw perform well was NF and his Hope tour, the entrance. the lights, smoke and everything shows in his shows that he puts effort. more rappers got to be like him with putting effort into performing for their fans
Nicki is fighting back against these rap labels that think they can just recreate her whole image. Nah that’s not possible she writes her own shit, No payola, no publicity stunts, no extra shit just bars and good music. Lol c'mon.. she has a handler just like every other huge celebrity and she is essentially promoting the idea that if you're not willing to do what industry wants, don't even bother trying to become a celebrity.. it makes things easier for industry that way.
same problem in the fashion industry. the 5 megaconglomerates that own ALL the luxury designers across the world and I mean ALL of them don't care about talent anymore either. Just endless mass production. You have to sell out or sell your soul or both to PARTICIPATE in fashion now for literally 98% of the business. you have to start your own business and go independent and even then, you're competing with Chinese slave labor perceptions of what is the worth of the labor to make clothing items. No freedom till we're all free.

Honestly I went to my first live concert where I ended up listening to the artist less. Every single other concert I have been to I ended up becoming more of a fan and listended to them more. There was so much to why aswell.
So, I've just stumbled upon this channel, and man, after binge-watching a bunch of your vids, there's this obvious theme that keeps popping up. Like, in some parallel universe where the music industry's got a whole different set of problems, your stuff would still be all about gripes and raking in the bucks by being all negative. Don't get me wrong, I kinda dig your critical angle, but you gotta admit there's a bit of a mind-bender in many of your rants, even when you're tossing out ideas for fixes. Today's music scene, especially since Spotify and its crew took the stage, is seriously like a maze of complexity. It's like dealing with climate change-level complexities. We can't just oversimplify this crazy mix of factors shaping the music biz right now, same way we can't just brush off the insane intricacies of environmental shifts.
I think this is a straight up hip hop problem, not a music industry problem. Because if you were going by what Nikki said, then you have to discount Taylor Swift. You have to discount beyoncé you have to discount, Adele, Lady Gaga, country music acts, Miley Cyrus, You're going to have to cut all of those people out of the equation. That's why I think it's directly a hip hop problem. Hip hop is one the few places where you can lack substance in your music, but because you create a vibe, people are going.
You right, but all the pop/rnb artists you named have at least more than 7 years of career. And here we are talking about how in the past 5 years the industry has changed so much in all the genre of music. Of course hip-hop is the main genre where things has changed but it's a whole industry problem
I completely agree when you said talent doesn’t sell … the music industry, I believe Ice cube said it , own a huge share in the prison system , which should come as no surprise . Have their own agenda just like with main stream media and the people that are the most controversial individuals are put in the forefront because they cause people to pick sides and usually people especially here on the west tend to push their opinions and values into others. talent is just overlooked now and it’s sad but we’re watching everything fall before us 😂
Whats ironic is whn regular joe somebody's have been saying that this has been the case for years no one cared and even went to the extent of calling people haters, but once yall favorite celebrity says it this is so.e new profou d information, thats crazy to me ...
Honestly a 5 year old clip isn't that long ago😂 the real question is if the music industry is so evil why are all these people running to it to get jerked then disregarded
Promises of fame and fortune, status, and a chance to make it out. If you weren’t planted in, then a lot of times you have little to no idea what comes with being in the industry. Even with all the artists that have come out and spoke up about “selling their soul” not owning anything, or being worked like a slave isn’t enough to get people to turn their heads.
@@Soliology Soliology I got to strongly disagree with you about they know what their getting into nowadays they don't know what to expect this isn't the 1960s ' '70s '80s or '90s but I do agree with you the money and fame is the main motivation.

I think coi leray is a big example of this, she only made a few tracks and tiktok gave her the fame, but when it was time for her to perform at first she couldn’t do it.
I think it’s crazy that people discarded things she said then during the hate train just cos it was the popular thing to do, if you go back to her interviews during that period alot of things she said was real and true, the fact that people just shut their mind to it because she was unpopular just shows how subjective, gullible and easily manipulative the general public is, it was kinda scary the level which ppl stopped thinking for themselves even with the disturbing lack of evidence. Can never see that period with a normal eye cos it was too obvious that strings were being pulled all the remys and kims and radio people thar were used to push the hate agenda yall saw with your eyes how they threw them away when they were done, that 7winters album remains unreleased, the 9 album yall never listened to it neither did the industry care…even now where are the batteries that fueled the “so called justified” hatred for that woman Nicki’s personality is a strong one you either like it or you don’t which is calm but she has to be that way in order to win in an industry that don’t really place importance on women and then tried to destroy her, but one thing remains, 80% or more of what that woman has said has been facts and true and has always been, it’s not a prophecy when y’all were blind to the truth in the first place. That’s the beautiful thing about the truth, it’ll always remain the truth.
i really wish it wasn't like this, i wanted to have a label so bad when i was younger, a group a people who support me but i guess that isn't the case😕
Why this dude look 12 with a 22 year old voice, mix with a 18 and 25 year old personality dressing like a 50 year old with them glasses? 😂 shoutout Blacky!
“Why is this so acceptable, why is this the industry standard” Because the consumers deem it acceptable if the consumers deemed it unacceptable it wouldn’t be a thing. Yes the industry emotionally manipulates people- but no one is forced to give money/time/energy/attention to a certain artist.

Blacky my brother! Good to see you show your face. Not that it matters but it’s cool to see a switch up 💪🏾
Her words were correct then and even more correct now.
I’m glad you share my opinion on Nicki vs Cardi too. Not even the same league.
Ive been listening to your videos while working for so long without visuals didnt even know you did a face reveal! Shout out blacky.
The Rap Game is on Life Support 🤦🏾♂️❤️🩹
I think this is why Nicki wanted to collab with her
At the end of the day, it’s about numbers. Nicki got to play the game just like anyone else in the industry. Drake is notorious for hopping on the popular wave so Nicki like alright, f*** it, I’m playing the game too.
@@marysdream4817I think so too because TBH I hated Munch and didn't listen to any of her music until Nicki collabed with her. Another thing is Ice spice writes her lyrics although they're not heavy bars But I think Nicki sees something in her. And another thing is Nicki tried of speaking up because when she did she was labeled as a bitter angry black woman and she was a hater who didn't promote female UNITY. Now she's playing the game
@@princewilliam9718exactly 💯💯 because when Nicki was speaking up she was labeled CRAZY and BITTER now she's playing the game too because let's be honest the only talented female rappers is doechii
you are seriously so bad ass, I love your perspective on anything music. You do the most elegant and beautiful music related work and I come here just to be the best and understand how the music industry works. You are a teacher and i welcome your conversations. i hope you are happy and beautiful in life. keep going you keep me going.

funny wayne brought her up... wayne is example of the facts she is speaking.... I been about a bag 'cause all I wanted was to be a G. Nicki talk those bars!
Blacky really out here teaching artists how to survive in the music industry Frrr💪🏽
Be humble and wise everyday! Be consistent and stay on track weekly. Discipline is key.
I remember that. she was speaking facts and people called her bitter 🙄 Glad you see it now….
Insightful as always.
One, seeing you personally is dope af and this is why I haven't really given it a shot. It's a popularity contest and without numbers you're no body.
Today billboard released an article, saying pushing a song is labels job..they are bitter tht their payola is less effective on the hot100, or rather… radio100 chart.
Love this content, thank you! ❤
nicki was definitely spitting in that video. but i think it’s interesting in hindsight because ain’t she the main one backing up ice spice? where’s her talent? or is nicki only doing this for because of ice’s popularity?
Nicki aside, J Cole been saying this. We easy too agree when its a "bar" with a good beat behind it...but when its in the interview setting (like this) people can't seem to handle that truth.
Another A+++ video brother, always glad to be sippin my aqua beside my guy BLACKYSPEAKZ

Thanks again for being comfortable with showing yo face! I feel like we cousins now 😂
Aaaaaaahhhhhh I love that you are on camera with it! Thanks for speaking facts always!
When has talent EVER been more important than popularity? Let's be so serious, and the music industry isn't the only one that deals with this
The times of Aretha Franklin , Dionne Warwick , Gladys Knight there was no auto tune. Either you had talent or not. You couldn’t fake it.
@@AbiZolanskiright wasnt no covering it

The ironic thing about it is that the artists (mostly rappers as that's who I pay the most attention to) who got in the industry due to popularity, but that popularity doesn't translate to sales and revenue.
I'm glad she said these things...
Labels used to seek talented artists, sign em, and help them blow up. Now labels seek what is blowing up on social media, and sign em hoping they would bring in the bucks. Sad.
Oooh lawd, that picture of cardi B with her incomplete teeth had me wheezing!😂😂😂😂
You wrong for that! 😂😂😂
🎶That was just a keepsake, bought the president
The Louis presidential briefcase, never been a cheapskate🎶
Record labels are just fucking up hip hop it’s such a shame
They’re taking money home that’s all that matters same with radio stations
It stopped being about the music
I think it’s because a lot of artists are coming through apps like SoundCloud, RUclips, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. and people look at those artist look at the amount of popularity they getting and sending to pick up Abu because they’re popular on social media if you look, and I suppose the way, the chica popular, who is not because of talent, it was because of RUclips and TikTok, and she has become popular by the millions ever since the same thing was 6ix9ine the way he got famous was because he was it meme before becoming an artist I don’t have a problem with that I like to call social media artist because things change things evolve over time nothing is going to stay the same forever it’s just you have to be careful on how you do it
I’m happy you’re actually black😊❤️
one rapper who i saw perform well was NF and his Hope tour, the entrance. the lights, smoke and everything shows in his shows that he puts effort. more rappers got to be like him with putting effort into performing for their fans
Nicki is fighting back against these rap labels that think they can just recreate her whole image. Nah that’s not possible she writes her own shit, No payola, no publicity stunts, no extra shit just bars and good music. We the fans can see through the bullshit I don’t get why this is so hard to understand for people
The music industry is no different now than it was 5 years ago. Are we really going to act like Nicki isn't 100% controlled? Lol c'mon.. she has a handler just like every other huge celebrity and she is essentially promoting the idea that if you're not willing to do what industry wants, don't even bother trying to become a celebrity.. it makes things easier for industry that way.
Never seen your face!
same problem in the fashion industry. the 5 megaconglomerates that own ALL the luxury designers across the world and I mean ALL of them don't care about talent anymore either.
I been writing my lyrics out lately, so seeing Nicki do it is uplifting cus thas how you know somone has love n genuine talents for the craft. Cardi B vs Nicki in a bar fight tho?? Ooh let's be honest who can really stand to Nicki in her style

That Bar from up all night 💯
Its okay to be a barb ❤ we accept you with open arms 😂
I'm gonna say that out of every music genre, rap and pop music have always been this way.
I like that your voice match your look. It’s giving Intelligent man.

I completely agree when you said talent doesn’t sell … the music industry, I believe Ice cube said it , own a huge share in the prison system , which should come as no surprise . Have their own agenda just like with main stream media and the people that are the most controversial individuals are put in the forefront because they cause people to pick sides and usually people especially here on the west tend to push their opinions and values into others. talent is just overlooked now and it’s sad but we’re watching everything fall before us 😂
Blackyspeakz “stop the cap, stop the CAP” gotta used as a sound now 😂
Speaking of “no stage presence” I cringe every time I think of Gunna’s SNL performance. I remember being absolutely stunned at the lack of energy.
Whats ironic is whn regular joe somebody's have been saying that this has been the case for years no one cared and even went to the extent of calling people haters, but once yall favorite celebrity says it this is so.e new profou d information, thats crazy to me ...

My dude need to do this more I love these face-to-face
People want the glory and want to fill stadiums.
No one can speak trash about Nicki and make me hate her
She will always be iconic and legendary to me her creativity brings me happiness and that that
Haters can support there untalented favs just how they are untalented period

You said she was bitter as well and even agreed with most of it back in the hate train days but not she’s right cause everyone loves her again 🙄. First they love you than they switch up like….
You may not be a Big Barbie 🦄 Blackie, but you like Nicki if you can recite them bars!😁🌅💕🩷🦄💯
I think coi leray is a big example of this, she only made a few tracks and tiktok gave her the fame, but when it was time for her to perform at first she couldn’t do it.
mind you i said “at first” now coi leray is very talented
I think it’s crazy that people discarded things she said then during the hate train just cos it was the popular thing to do, if you go back to her interviews during that period alot of things she said was real and true, the fact that people just shut their mind to it because she was unpopular just shows how subjective, gullible and easily manipulative the general public is, it was kinda scary the level which ppl stopped thinking for themselves even with the disturbing lack of evidence.
Can never see that period with a normal eye cos it was too obvious that strings were being pulled all the remys and kims and radio people thar were used to push the hate agenda yall saw with your eyes how they threw them away when they were done, that 7winters album remains unreleased, the 9 album yall never listened to it neither did the industry care…even now where are the batteries that fueled the “so called justified” hatred for that woman
Nicki’s personality is a strong one you either like it or you don’t which is calm but she has to be that way in order to win in an industry that don’t really place importance on women and then tried to destroy her, but one thing remains, 80% or more of what that woman has said has been facts and true and has always been, it’s not a prophecy when y’all were blind to the truth in the first place. That’s the beautiful thing about the truth, it’ll always remain the truth.

i really wish it wasn't like this, i wanted to have a label so bad when i was younger, a group a people who support me but i guess that isn't the case😕
14:23 that sounds like u mr Speakz
Why this dude look 12 with a 22 year old voice, mix with a 18 and 25 year old personality dressing like a 50 year old with them glasses? 😂 shoutout Blacky!
“Why is this so acceptable, why is this the industry standard”
Because the consumers deem it acceptable if the consumers deemed it unacceptable it wouldn’t be a thing. Yes the industry emotionally manipulates people- but no one is forced to give money/time/energy/attention to a certain artist.
Wow, so you really starting to like Nicki now huh? Love to see the growth 🥲🤣
That's about how long it take to mess it all up. 5 years.😅💯
Its facts its popularity contest in mainstream hiphop now. Underground artists thats where it is at
Bro I would never deny the talent that is Nicky Minaj but she eats her words too sometimes. She literally jumped on Tekashi and Ice spice now because they’re “meme”able and lack the actual talent it took for her to rise up
1. She worked with 69 during the nicki hate train era she wanted to play around since people were gonna hate anyway
2. People complain she doesn’t work with enough female rappers so she worked with an up and coming rapper like her to help her.
But ofc that’s not enough and people still complain
